I had like three different systems in mind in regards to how to get my eventual dual stick / hotas setup out of the way when I'm not using it, but this is perfection. Linear rails, why didn't I think of that.
By HonestVapes Go To PostSome of the decent B550 ITX boards were kinda pricey too. My general advice is go for Asus or ASRock when it comes to ITX boards. Although ASRock have been sketchy with the overall design past their Z390 ITX boards.Asus -> Gigabyte -> Asrock -> MSI would be my pecking order. I'm gonna take it easy, wait until there's a decent selection of boards.
Btw, SF750 still the way to go? Although the Meshlicious does support ATX PSUs, kinda, so I'd have to see if I can make it work.
I believe the SF750 is still the quietest SFX unit, but there’s also a CoolerMaster 850w SFX unit out now and I believe some 1000w or higher SFX-L units.
From what I’ve seen of recent builds, it’s seems to be mainly the SF750 and Cooler Master unit getting used on builds.

By Laboured Go To PostI've got the Bestellbestätigung to prove it m8.
I kind of fucked up, because the 3080ti dropped minutes after it and you can only buy one card per drop over at Notebooksbilliger.de, but whatever, there will be other drops. I'll treat it as a temporary card or give it to my brother, since he told me he'd be happy with a 3070/ti at MRSP.
I'm not even 100% sure it will go through once they realize it's a dirty foreigner trying to scam the system by having the card sent to Germany.
By HonestVapes Go To PostWhich model tho?FE, Nvidia drop at MRSP, 620€.
I mean a 3070Ti is still a big upgrade over your 1080Ti. Ain’t nothing to sneeze at. Especially since you play at 1080p and 3440x1440. You might just find yourself completely happy with it.

Again, it's too early for the party balloons, payment is still pending. But it's the first time I managed to go all the way through with the buy. The TI cards are pretty easy to get these days, not many people want them, understandingly, so you've got minutes rather than seconds to complete the transaction. Once again they dropped pretty much every single card ... except the 3080.
Yeah I get that completely, you’ve gotta be true to inner self. That’s said what’s your excuse for the quad core in 2021?
By HonestVapes Go To PostYeah I get that completely, you’ve gotta be true to inner self. That’s said what’s your excuse for the quad core in 2021?Mostly being poor, I suppose. Also because it's still good enough for gaming.
Got everything but the CPU, because DPD, being as shit as they are, forgot to take it off the van and then refused to go get it for me.
Is it fine to assemble everything and then drop in the CPU at the end, give I'm using an AIO?

By HonestVapes Go To PostSure but it might be more difficult to fit the backplate and AIO once the motherboard is in the case.Figured I could get the bracket and standoffs in before mounting the motherboard, but I don't know if that'll get in the way of the CPU lever. The case I went for has a very large cutout on the back anyway, so it shouldn't be too difficult, I'd hope

I don’t think it would unless the AIO has a mounting mechanism I’ve not familiar with. Which AIO is it and I’ll check?

By JesalR Go To PostArctic Liquid Freezer 280. Looks relatively standard, and the installation guide makes it look like it'd be fineYeah it looks like you'll be okay. Maybe you'd need to undue one standoff at most if the retention arm can't clear it, but it's bent it such a way that I believe it'll clear the standoff. If you did need to, those washers on the front and rear look like they have adhesive on them so they won't fall out of place anyway.
By Laboured Go To PostSamesies. Seems to be taking for-fucking-ever.They are still testing which components to have in the drop-down at the pre-built section of Scan, horse. It takes time so pls understand.
I’m interested in seeing what Alderlake has to offer in terms of performance, interested in the architectural approach too but fuuuuuuuck being an early adopter of a new CPU arch. Not doing that shit ever again.

3070ti is a go. Think I'll keep it for now, pass the 1080ti to my brother (and sell his 1080 while it's still worth decent money).
Hopefully a 3080 or a 3080ti will have been acquired by the time it's time to migrate to the new PC.

does nvidia release new graphics card lines every 2 years? Will a "4070/80/90" rtq gpu be released next year?
Or is it longer like console generations?
Or is it longer like console generations?
It's usually around two years give or take a bit. Would be cool with a 40 series people can actually buy.
By Laboured Go To PostTends to be roughly 1.5 years I thought.
Wait really? I thought there was like 2 years between the last few ones. Maybe I just dont remember well.
Edit: did this not just say 1 year before. am i going crazy. send help

By rerixo Go To Postdoes that mean zen 4 is risky too? not sure what the importance of socket change is in cpu architectureIt definitely implies some significant changes under the hood, but Intel's upcoming efficiency / performance core design feels like a much more radical and thus risky change in CPU engineering than what AMD will be doing with Zen 4.
I don't think we know enough about the latter to say either way for sure, but from what I've gathered it seems the taunted 25% improvement in IPC will mostly come from switching to 5nm and cache shenanigans (V-cache, unified L3 cache), optimizations to the existing Zen architecture, as well as the upgrade to PCI-E 5.0 and DDR5. So lots of changes, but nothing too disruptive.
I don't think early Zen 4 adopters will experience the apprehension Alder Lake fanboys are feeling right about now.
tbf Intel's track record on new uArch's is still fairly good
the different core types definitely adds an element unlike anything in many years though, already hearing about some DRM that will have issues with it.

I ordered a Macbook Pro for reasons that i would make fun of someone for, watching movies and browsing the web. I wish it didn't cost $2500 to get the best speakers and screen available on a laptop but here we are.
What Zabo said.
It depends, and is often a staggered launch. It’s usually around 1.5-2 years for a new GPU architecture/series to be announced and released however the full line up of cards doesn’t release all on day one.
Within those two years, sometimes a refreshed line up of the current series of cards will be announced and released.
Like with the RTX 20 series and RYX 20 Super series. The initial launch happened in 2018 with the 2080 and 2080Ti and the rest of the cards had a staggered release into 2019. Then I believe the end of 2019, the 20 Super series released.
The “Super” series was a refreshed launch of the 2060, 2070, 2080 that offered a bit more performance via some small changes, but it was still the same GPU architecture as before.
