Think I’m gonna upgrade to a 1000w from a 850w. . Apparently the Seasonic Prime model I have, and others, are prone to power spikes when used with the 3090.
I do not like that.
And I think I’d like to have more headroom for it and a potential 3090S.
Looking at the new 1000w EVGA P6 as a potential replacement.

I would agree with smokey
I would not undervolt
I know nothing about PCs though, but it just doesn't sound safe or that it will cause malfunctions or performance drops

It’s completely safe, saves on power draw, stabilises boost clocks if power limited (most cards are nowadays), reduces thermals/noise and doesn’t cost any performance.
It’s been the play since the 20 series due to aggressive power limits and small gains in overclock performance.

Now that I’ve had my 3080 Ti for over a month i need to decide whether to keep my 1080 Ti as a backup card in case my main card dies, or to go ahead and sell it since it’s literally sitting in my closet doing nothing.
I would also be interested in a 3090 super if it is real, so I’ll probably try to upgrade again whenever that releases anyway.

Keep the 1080ti
Looking heavy at Alder Lake this fall. Time to upgrade. 9900k will be 3 gens old. Can’t have that
By inky Go To PostThe 4050 ti will fill that gap in 2024 brotherWait has the 3050 been canceled?

I might consider upgrading the 9900K when DDR5 becomes supported and widespread/cheaper. Be kinda pointless until the 4000/5000 series GPUs since it’s still more than fast enough to keep up with current GPUs at 4K.
By DerZuhälter Go To PostWait has the 3050 been canceled?
By inky Go To PostNot, but it will be $600Yeah, gpu makers have no reason to try to make something that cheap and instead are focusing on cards that have much higher profit margins since everything sells out regardless.

Alder Lake will support DDR5 and PCIE 5.0 (👀).
Fiending for new tech. I refuse to give in to Adam and join Team Red.
By Laboured Go To PostAs a windows 10 hater, 11's UI looks way better.
yep I'll keep the older card, as better safe than sorry...
I'm kinda skeptical about how Alder Lake's performance + efficiency cores strategy will work out... still seems like they'd be better off just trying for 10 normal cores again
Planning to switch to Windows 11 on day one though.

SSUPD Meshlicious ... but placed horizontally, with the IO side facing down, cables routed through and under the desk.

isn't the meshlicious io always facing down anyway? looks like a really nice case but that's one of the things turning me off it lol
By Zabojnik Go To PostVapes, hear me out.I see no reason against it providing you’ve got the space on the desk to lay it length ways.

By rerixo Go To Postthis is such a zabo idea💀No, when in its natural vertical position, the IO is on the rear.

Always hated seeing those cables when looking at people's desk setups. I could make them pretty much invisible using 90° connectors and a 3D printed cover or some sort ... but having the IO facing downward and cables routed through the desk would make for a super clean look.
I like everything about the Meshlicious, except the fact that it's a vertical case.
By HonestVapes Go To PostI see no reason against it providing you’ve got the space on the desk to lay it length ways.Plenty. Desk is 80cm deep, Mesh is 36cm, got the whole right side of the desk free, once I move the headphone charger elsewhere.
By Wahabipapagooz Go To PostZabos setup is too clean, I dont trust it.You may not like it, but this is what a white power setup looks like.
Might actually go with a white case this time around. I wish there were more case colour options in general.
You could take them to an auto paint shop and get their help painting a case a different color. That's what a buddy of mine did for his Quakecon case modding entries

Is it still a shitty time to build a PC? Been about 4 years since I've had this build and I want to build a new one.
Idk if it's just ME Legendary that performs like shit but whenever I'm on uncharted worlds I get like 20FPS after driving around in the Mako a bit

By Old King Rob Go To PostIs it still a shitty time to build a PC? Been about 4 years since I've had this build and I want to build a new one.The GPU market is fucked. If you want a new PC and don't want the hassle, buying a pre-built is the same or better value than buying the scalped GPU prices you may be forced to pay otherwise.

I could never buy a pre-built. They're all mostly ugly and building a PC is a process I enjoy.
Guess I'll just wait and hope they come down in price eventually.

What’s your current PC specs like? Could just be a bug in that particular game and throwing new hardware at it might not even fix it.
By Old King Rob Go To PostI could never buy a pre-built. They're all mostly ugly and building a PC is a process I enjoy.FYI, Nvidia doesn't expect there to be even a chance of supply changing until like mid-2022 at the earliest. You could be waiting until as long as 2026 for prices to come down.

Main Gear (https://maingear.com/) is a pretty good pre-built company, though. They use off-the-shelf parts, so nothing proprietary. They even use good cases like the Lian Li O11.
It's worth joining some channels that post deals for GPUs. I follow one on Telegram that sends a notification anytime there is a restock of the 30 series on a number of sites across Europe, it's how I got my 3070Ti at MSRP.

The nice thing about the Meshlicious is I'd probably only want to paint the mesh side panel(s) anyway, and you can always get a replacement for those in case the colour you chose goes out of style or something, so I'd be down for doing it myself.

An 8700K at 1440p or 4K with a modern GPU will absolutely sail through games still. If you want to get frisky, delid the CPU and overclock it to 4.9-5Gz with a good cooler.
Do any of you use a 48” oled as a monitor? Does it feel too big on a desk or did it take you a while to get used to the size? I’m considering picking one of these up during Black Friday this year.
I haven't used a 48'' but way back when i used a 37'' panel and i couldn't Imagine going bigger. You would need a very deep desk to use a 48'' comfortably.
