Forget what I said above on the previous page. I updated to the latest drivers for Metro Exodus EE and it fucked things up. Now I’m locked out of 4K/120hz/4:2:0 until it gets fixed in a future driver release or I backdate to the drivers I was on. Thanks Nvidia.
Could be a driver issue. I've heard some things about 3000 series cards and different driver releases fucking up performance/utilisation.
By Smokey Go To PostRan 3dmark :During the GPU portion of the benchmark, you can see the GPU percentage (red section) is in the ~97%, where it should be. But look at the demo portion, you see the utilization all over the place, and that's kind of what I'm seeing when I'm playing games. Maybe not into the 40 range, but definitely 60s or so. It's very uneven.

I can't believe Microsoft still haven't fixed the thing where all the windows from your secondary monitor move to your primary after you wake them up. People with dual monitor setups have been complaining and pleading for years. It's legit the main reason why I don't even bother anymore.

I’ve not got an exact source since it’s information I’ve parsed through from various different forums over the last several months. For the most part I figured it was shitters pairing 3080s with 2500Ks so I never looked into it too closely.
Here’s some examples though:
https://forums.evga.com/m/tm.aspx?m=3137243&p=1
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/448115/rtx-3080-low-utilization-still-no-fix/
One running theme I notice is 1440p and Ryzen CPUs, but the issue isn’t exclusive to either of those factors as many replies mention having identical issues with Intel CPUs too. I think that’s probably just due to Ryzen being more dominant in the BYOC space now.
That's definitely what's happening on my end. Everything except for BLOPS Cold War (for whatever reason) is not in the 90%+ utilization range. I'm at 5ghz on my 9900k, and even though the refresh rate was 240hz, I'm not realistically expecting to hit that, but the performance has really been sub par and annoying.
Most of my energy is focusing on me getting ready to move so I don't have the patience atm to really troubleshoot it. Bleh.

Well I'm entering the PC gaming realm for real now. Decided on getting the Asus TUF VG27 AQ. Since I'm getting a screen with a gaming laptop that also meant I had to go keyboard shopping. Ultimately decided on the Logitech G513 with GX Brown switches. I was initially eyeing those TKL's and was ready to go for something completely different. But availability of tech stuff is abysmal currently. Ultimately the G513 just seemed to tick all the boxes for me. I slightly considered the G915 TKL, but I just can't stomach breaking the bank for a keyboard. Found the one I bought at 149 euros and the cheapest G915 I could find was sitting at 230 euros. And then it doesn't even add that memory foam wrist rest which looks amazing. A month or so back I already bought the G305 mouse and I'm rounding things out with the G840 XL mouse pad.
Got some tools for cable management as well. Hopefully most of the things I ordered come in this weekend so I can start finishing this whole project. And hopefully be done with tech stuff for the home office for a while.

To be honest, I never really considered that just for sheer size. Aside from being another slight step up in budget it's just too big for my taste at the moment. I have a pretty wide desk but I want it to still look clean and comfortable. With this size of monitor my speakers will still fit in a decent manner as well as the other gear without feeling too cluthered.
Also mind you, I managed to keep the entire setup within a 655 euros budget (yeah I was going for 650). 600 really. That's including a cable, monitor stand, keyboard, mousepad and a simple cable organizer for underneath the stand. The cheapest 1440P ultra wides start at around 500 euros over here.

By HonestVapes Go To PostYou've really gotta ask yourself if you could've fit a CX55 on that desk tbh
I can always move my CX from the livingroom to the bedroom on days where my eyesight is poor.
Don't group me with their kind. 16:9 and proud over here.
An acceptable compromise.

By FootbalIFan Go To Post@wooden @zabo @vapesvapes doesn't ultrawide, he just sits close to his massive telly. Similar effect but without the noncery.
It really doesn't feel that big anymore. Sometimes I wonder if I should've gone with the 65 instead, more than anything I'm glad I didn't go with the 48.
When it comes round to time for an upgrade I really might. It'll depend on what the monitor scene is like at that time vs the TV scene and whether i still have this ridiculously large kitchen counter for a desk.
Having your Mouse DPI/Sensitivity settings get reset and then nothing feeling right after that is the worst.
By DominicanPower Go To PostSo building a new pc is a fucked up endeavor now a days.Pretty much. If you need a pre-built though, we’ve got a horse on the inside
In the UK it’s pretty much just the GPU situation that’s fucking things up for BYOC. Everything else is readily available from what I’ve seen, not even overpriced either. SSDs especially have seemed cheap lately, £70 for 1TB.
AMD GPUs are available on OCUK but the prices are absurd, £800 for a 6700XT, £1300 for a 6800XT, £1700 for a 6900XT.
Haven’t seen Nvidia cards in stock since December/January.

Everything is out of stock here and probably will be until 2023 or so. Bought a mouse for $30 yesterday at least.

By Zabojnik Go To PostDon't give me hope.Let me assist:
Retailers are starting to find the limit of what consumers are willing to pay, so GPUs are just going to have a slight reduction in price but then hold there for a good long while.
Yeah I reckon Kibner is on the money there. It’s somewhat noteworthy though that Nvidia GPUs can be 3x the price and still sell near instantly.
Gotta say, at a viewing distance averaging between 45 and 50 cm that 27 inch screen feels massive to me. Paired with everything else I got going on at my desk I'm really happy with my choice for size.
If it ever starts to feel small, don’t hesitate bringing it closer to your eyes. You have my blessing
So yeah, this is how things turned out. Mousepad arrived today, as well as the Dr. Strangelove canvas. Last thing I'm waiting for are some small led strips to add to the back of my desk for some extra lighting on the wall. They do a bunch of colors but I plan on setting them to white/blue-ish to keep things easy on the eye. I'm not big on the whole RGB disco you see some people got going. So yeah, pretty happy with how everything turned out. That memory foam palmrest that came with the keyboard is maybe the most unepexted highlight to all of this. So damn comfy.
