This videocard stock situation is just getting worse instead of better it seems. I shouldn’t have skipped Turing. :(

Turing was stupid expensive though. In one year they effectively cut the initial price in half (across some of the cards anyway)
edit: definitely not saying people were stupid to buy into Turing, just that the price was super high for what was delivered compared to some other years, so skipping it wasn't the worst decision
There was a drop on BestBuy just now for 3090's and 3080's. I had my payment info saved and was there waiting. Finally the add to cart button turns yellow and I add the 3090 to my cart, and before I can even checkout it says that it's been sold out and is removed from my cart.

I've heard people tell horror stories of ASUS support during RMAs but looks like they aren't adding Resizable BAR support for those who are on z370 chipsets: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?121866-RESIZE-BAR-for-Z370-Z390-chipset/page26
even though it seems like the other mobo manufacturers are.
I've been using Asus motherboards for a long time (Maximus II Formula, then Rampage III Extreme, then Z68V-Pro Gen3, then Maximus IX Hero, and now Maximus XII Hero) and fortunately have never had to deal with their customer service but I think I'll consider all of this when choosing my next motherboard.
Too bad DFI isn't in business anymore... I really liked using their motherboards back in the Athlon 64 days.

"In a nutshell, the feature, set via the system BIOS, determines how much of the graphics memory, or VRAM, on your video card is made available to be mapped for access by the CPU. Generally, this is limited to just 256MB of the card's onboard VRAM—which is to say, not much of it. A motherboard with Resizable BAR activated, however, can boost the limit to the full capacity of the VRAM buffer."
"At the system level, for starters, rather than chopping up the data stream and sending smaller requests from the CPU to the GPU, the GPU can now ask for complete chunks of data—think, larger files containing elements like shaders and textures—and get them sent by the CPU all at once. "
It can boost performance depending on the game. Could result in up to an extra 6-12% performance.

yeah i won't be buying asus mobo for my next build

Nvidia's new GPU architecture coming in 2022. I better go ahead and reserve my spot in line now lol.

Sub-50g G Pro Lightweight mod / upgrade. I've considered buying the Lightweight, but I'd like to keep the right-side buttons. Might get my og G Pro modded and upgraded instead. Swap the wheel encoder at the very least, it's the one thing I don't like about the Pro.

Thought my CPU cooler was messed up, could hear a constant clicking sound. Replaced and fitted a new one, same sound.

GF helped me reseat and fix it.

That chipset fan is terrible.
I just had to disconnect my vrm fan on my Arctic aio because it was making annoying af noises.
Do you at least know how to tell if a fan is spinning because that's been an issue for a slaent user in that past?
By Pedja Go To PostDo you at least know how to tell if a fan is spinning because that's been an issue for a slaent user in that past?Easy way to test is to either use software to turn off your fans one at a time or VERY CAREFULLY use your fingers to stop the fans (preferably before your computer boots so you don't have to worry about stopping a fast moving object but just prevent one from starting to spin in the first place). That way, you can at least identify exactly which component is causing the noise.
e: actually, don't use your fingers; that's dumb. use a pen or stick or something that you don't care if it breaks or gets cracked or cut
By Finiarel Go To PostMotherboard is a B450-F, Not to sure if it's got a chipset fan, if I'm being honest!
Check that it’s not a fan, like Kibner suggested. Don’t forget to check the PSU and GPU fans too.
If it’s constantly clicking then it’s likely a wire clipping against a fan blade or it could possibly be a dodgy fan motor.
If it’s a more sporadic clicking noise, it could be a fan starting up and/or stopping. I’ve known PSU’s with semi-passive modes to click when the fan starts up or turns off for instance.
PSA do not insert a finger or other fleshy parts of your body into a spinning fan
By Finiarel Go To PostMotherboard is a B450-F, Not to sure if it's got a chipset fan, if I'm being honest! It looks like it's just passively cooled (aluminum heatsink).
What’s wrong with stopping a fan with your finger btw? Just press on the hub in the middle. Don’t stick anything in the blades while they’re spinning though since it could cause a blade to break.

I got 3.5K ready for the macbooks in September, judge me ya varmants. It's full spec most importantly it out performs your favorite notebook.

Curious how Apple handles large memory requirements for the M1X (or whatever it will be called) as scaling up DRAM when its embedded is far harder. Much of the performance from the M1 comes from awesomely low latencies for everything across the board, how will they maintain that for people who require more than say 64GB of RAM? Probably not a big deal for the MBP but that's a major design hurdle for the Mac Pro. Maybe use HBM2E or something even more crazy like DRAM on SoC stacked packaging?

Apple will find a way to make 32 gigs of ram perform on par with 64 or stack 32s. Of course that device costs upwards of 60K because Apple tax.

We’re only interested in Nvidia/Intel/AMD brand warfare round these parts m8

Had like 4 months of Humble Bundle codes to redeem. Forget that I'm subbed to that service...
Also think I'm going to return the Odyssey G7. I actually really like it, but with me moving across the country in a few months, I really want to transport the least amount of electronics as possible to avoid any potential damage.
I also have some faint hope that the 32UQX will actually be released in a few months, but it's ASUS.

27" PG27UQ was fine for me, it was just the fucking fan that drove me crazy.
Apparently I missed the small preorder window.
