By diehard Go To PostYou would need a version of Ampere without tensor/RT cores to get down to 75wYeah, figured as much. Or a significantly cut down core on a more power efficient node perhaps?
Not outside the realms of possibility I suppose, Pascal was on 16nmFF for the 60-80Ti and the 50/50Ti used 14nmLP if I recall correctly. I’ve no idea how Ampere power efficiency would look on TSMC 7nm for example tho.
I think 100-125w might be the more likely target for those cards with a xx40 or xx30 standing in for the 75w card.
By Smokey Go To Posti need to move over to my p500a case and install my 3090
cyberpunk is my deadline
I hope you see the light one day and ascend to the heights of a Lian Li case. Even Kibner’s on board with me.
yeah, come join me with an itx board in a large mid-tower case with 1,000 mm of radiator space (360*2 + 280*1)
Also, I looked around on Silverstone's website about replacing the 5.25" bays in my FT02 with 3.5" drive holders and between what can fit in those and what can fit inside the case, I would be able to house thirteen drives. I would love to be able to afford to fill every last one of those slots up with a 16TB drive, but each one of those costs $350. I don't think spending $4,550 on just storage to fill out the case is the best idea.
That feeling when a 3060 Ti is faster than your 1080 Ti, and also you still can’t even find a 3090 in stock.

I think I either somehow score a 3080 in the next 7 days in time for Cyberpunk ... or I'll abandon my quest entirely until stock is ample.
It's fucking wearing me down man. I have become a living twitter notification.

Between trying to get a 3080 for myself, a 3070 for my gf, and a PS5 for both of us, I'm just about ready to give up. Might as well save the cash, I guess. Maybe there will be a 3080 with more VRAM by the time the normal one becomes easily available.
what are yall doing to try to get a 3080? Me and 2 friends were able to get them by watching the twitch stock stream
By diehard Go To Postwhat are yall doing to try to get a 3080? Me and 2 friends were able to get them by watching the twitch stock streamStockDrops on Discord and a couple of stock bots on Twitter. I could've probably gotten one or two, but I didn't want an ugly Palit GPU or pay 950€ for a shitty* EVGA XC3. The stock situation is absolutely dire in EU and if you're at least somewhat picky, it's like playing on 'nightmare'.
*it's an alright card, but not at that price, and I just really want a TUF

We make money to spend money, Vapes. You deal with nonce coworkers to be able to buy a CX or a 3090, or both.
Don't let that opportunity pass you by next time
By Smokey Go To PostWe make money to spend money, Vapes. You deal with nonce coworkers to be able to buy a CX or a 3090, or both.Wise words, as always. I'd just be happier to go with a cheaper 3080 or the eventual 3080Ti as they represent a better deal to me.

To be honest, depending on how well the 2080Ti plays with the CX, I could stick with that for another gen. It's not like 3070 tier performance is bad.
europe has a way worse stock situation than the us, so finding cards anywhere near rrp is annoying as hell
upgrading from 2080ti seems crazy to me. upgrading to a new gen of cards becomes much more tempting when they have new features like dlss, nvenc, etc but nvidia are saving that tech for 40xx series.

Thinking about the O11 Mini again and just realized that being able to fit two PSUs in that second chamber is actually useful with these GPUs taking up a fuck-ton of power and it being difficult to source high enough wattage SFX/L PSUs. Just grab two lower wattage modular ones and have one for the main system and the other for the GPU.
It would only take away the ability to fit physical HDDs in the case, but that's not really an issue for me.

It would work, but I think it'd be more expensive to buy two 450w-500w SFX PSUs than one 750w-1000w PSU.
Also worth considering that a second SFX PSU is typically a second 92mm fan in the build, which can be noisy depending on the model and the fan curve set.
I'd try to hold out for an SF750 when they become available, or possibly the Coolermaster 850w whenever that gets a proper release.

I just trust Seasonic more than others and the largest SFX/L PSU they have is only 650W Gold. They have a 500W version that is only $100 so getting two of them wouldn't be bad, imo.

I've had an SF600 Gold and an SF750 Platinum, been using the latter for nearly two years now I think. Semi-passive up to 300w, relaxed fan curve, and enough connectors for 3x8pin PCIE. Best part though was getting it on sale for £116, couldn't believe the price of it.

Don't just take my word though, load testing, noise testing, etc. can be checked here https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/corsair_sf750_platinum_power_supply_review,6.html
Or, if I get this new job I'm looking at in the spring, I can get a couple of these fanless SFX-L PSU's, huehuehue: SilverStone NJ450-SXL.

Went to move my components from the Air 540 to the P500a. Realized...I don't know where my PSU cables are, and I need an additional one for the Strix 3090. Looked all over and can't find them . I moved since I built this rig, and I'm wondering if the bag of cables is off in storage somewhere.
Going to have to hit up Seasonic tomorrow and see if I can purchase a new set.
Gonna have to go into Cyberpunk with this trash 2080ti

Went ahead and just bought the Deluxe Ampere bundle from Cablemod. Who knows when they'll get here. Sending off my 2080Ti tomorrow and I'll be back to rocking a 1060 until the cables come in
By diehard Go To PostDamn i was going to find you a single cable but at least now you get a whole set of braided cables
Appreciate it! Figured it wouldn't hurt to have an extra set around, or in this case, the default Seasonic cables once I swap them out for the Cablemods.
