By Kibner Go To PostAlso, the quality of the DLSS implementation varies from title to title with Death Standing and Control being two of the best. It also isn't widely supported, yet.Anything DLSS 2.0+ is the good stuff.
However, it is still the best way to get high fps in 4k at max settings right now. Especially if RT usage is pretty heavy.
DLSS 1.0 was worse than 1440p with TAA from what I remember.
Even 2.0 stuff can be iffy. War Thunder (or was it World of Planes or something... One of those) supposedly has a lot of ghosting and trailing artifacts when in motion.
This should be good enough to play the mainstream pc games, crpgs and most right? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8ydTmk
i mean the m.2 ssd would be nice, but it's barely going to make any difference for gaming will it?
But yeah, would get a 3700x and maybe get a slightly better gpu if possible

By Wahabipapangus Go To Posti mean the m.2 ssd would be nice, but it's barely going to make any difference for gaming will it?Agreed. Or even a 3600. They are both so much better than the 2600 for not much more money. The 5600 would be best, but it is significantly more expensive and very hard to get a hold of right now.

The Gpu is the only thing I'm kind of iffy about. But I can't really recommend they wait for a 3600ti to become available so I don't really have a good recommendation for them.
By Kuma Go To PostIf I catch somethings on sale I should be able to get 2060I would just get something cheap that can play most of today's games and then buy a 3060ti or 3700 when they become available, tbh. Or buy something from the 4000 series in a year or two.
The 1000 series is long in the tooth and many of the 2000 series aren't a large upgrade, though you should of course always look at benchmarks for games you care about before purchase.
Yeah it should be enough to do what I want it to do like play Hots drunk lol. Do I need to upgrade my motherboard for the future card?

By HonestVapes Go To PostHow much have/are you selling your 2080Ti for tho, Smokey?
I think I'm gonna shoot for $550. Still have some warranty on it.
By Laboured Go To PostThought you had a 2080ti?Me? I do, but I'm curious about the resale value and all that.
My plan if I do go for a 3080/3090 is to just stick my 2080Ti in my gf's H1 build and sell the 2060. Feels better on my mental to sell a £300 GPU for £200 than it does to sell a £1100 GPU for £500-£600.

i'd agree with that plan. for me, when i sell cards, i'm usually just looking to offload it and get back a reasonable amount. yeah it was a 1200 card, but that prime window to get the most value back for it is gone. in my head selling it for 550 brings the price paid for the card down to 1275. im ok with that.

Ah yeah completely agree,
By diehard Go To Postyou have to have real real money to buy a 3090 over a 3080
i was thinking of going for a 3080, but at some point i had enough of waiting, and got a 3090 which was way more often in stock. that extra 10% is nice as well. it's not as if i got better things to waste my money on in rona world
By diehard Go To Postyou have to have real real money to buy a 3090 over a 3080Given the current real price of the 3080, as in the scalper prices on eBay, the 3090 ain’t bad for an extra £200 and 10% performance bump.
I’m tempted like, but I just don’t feel like 50% more performance at most over the 2080Ti is justifiable as an upgrade when it costs £1500-£1800 currently.
If the 3080Ti happens and comes out for £1000~, or the 3080 sees some widespread availability, then I can justify those prices. Overall I’m kinda happy to sit this gen out though.
I agree with Vapes.
I really don't mind sitting out this gen. Might be the first year since 2017 when I haven't upgraded any PC parts.

in my experience this is the worst generation of graphic cards. really shit value for money. first time I'm contemplating buying a console since the PS2 if it doesn't get better in 2021.

The value for money is actually really good for everything under the 3090, if you can buy close to the RRP.
650-700 for the 3080, for the performance you’ll get out of it is superb compared to the 2000 series.
450-500 for a 3070 with near identical performance to a 2080Ti.
If they stick the landing on the 3050, 3060 and 3060Ti in terms of price/performance then it could be arguably one of Nvidia’s better generations in terms of value for money.

DigiTimes says wafer pricing will rise 20-40% in 2021 so i think its safe to say the days of getting a card with nearly top end performance (GTX 970, 8800 GT) in the $300-$400 range are gone. Giant GPU dies designed for datacenter performance that Nvidia can price at $1500+ and sell to gamers is something we just didnt have a decade ago either.
By diehard Go To Postnot even close, Turing/Vega was much worse.
you could ignore that generation and still be good with the previous generation before that. Ray Tracing and DLSS/whatever equivalent AMD comes up with feel like a must now.

a 3070 costs $800 here, import duty and taxes on electronics here are insane though. RIP me
I've been tempted to try for a 3090 instead of a 3080 in the past couple of weeks, when my frustration with not being able to get the latter peaked, but so far I've always come to my senses. The 3090 honestly feels like throwing away money, as it's clearly a 999€ card at best, if you look at the performance delta. Simply cannot justify springing for one, just as I cannot justify spending more than 750-800€ on a 3080. Fuck scalpers.
Elgiganten will come through in the end, we just have to keep believing, Wooden.

Still unhappy with the amount of RAM considering how cheap it is. Running a 1050TI right now and am super surprised that watt consumption is probably going to be 3fold jump for me.

Nvidia avin a laff
the 3060 will probably be $300 which seems fine?
3060ti has pretty strong performance, $400 would be good value
problem is the price is a lie since most units will be sold so much above rrp

I remember getting a secondhand 560Ti for about £130 in 2012 or 2013. That was fucking primo for me back then.
$400 for the 3060Ti does seem steep for the class of card it is, but the performance on offer for $400 is incredibly good.
The Turing series really rekt the whole price/class category though, I don’t think there’s any going back from it. All the cards moved up a tier in price. A 2060/S was effectively priced as a 1070 replacement, the 2070/S effectively became a 1080 replacement, the 2080/S a 1080Ti replacement and so on, but the performance uplift wasn’t there in most rasterisation games to justify the shift.
That trend had continued with the 30 series it seems, though at least the performance uplift is substantial across the board now.
I’m curious too to see how prices will look as the 3060, 3050Ti and 3050 come to market. $300/$200/$150? Will the 3050/3050Ti even be 75w cards? Shit’s weird.
