I’m not a Gundam fan, but all those look great to me.

By HonestVapes Go To PostAssembly was harder than I expected due to the corners of the case blocking access to the motherboard screws, but otherwise not too bad. Built in easier SFF cases though. Other than that, not a lot to say about this build. There's no RGB, and the whole case is black. It wasn't intentional but the overall small and understated look to it is nice. Another upside is that with the panels on, I can't see the misalignment on the EK Monarch RAM heatsinks, that shit has bugged me since last year. Clearance on them looks tight, probably 2mm off the limit. I wasn't sure if they would fit but I've gotten pretty good at eye-balling compatibility like that.
Haven't tested anything on it yet besides ensuring that it would boot and giving the BIOS a look. Very similar to the ASRock Z390 BIOS I'm already familiar with, so that's a bonus.
Yesssss!
Still going to hold out until the GN review so that I am aware of potential shortcomings before purchase.

Stuck in this limbo of wanting a new GPU to play Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p, high settings, 60 fps but nothing being available at it's launch. Any available card I buy right now will be outdated soon, can't delay playing it either since I got local holidays + personal days off at it's launch date
I got a RX 570 which meets it's recommended requirements but I don't think it can run 60 fps at higher settings. I'm usually ok with playing games with lower than high settings but Cyberpunk feels like an exception.

Then again, the second playthrough will be so much better! :-)

replaying a game your pc struggled to run years ago on max graphic settings is an underrated good feeling

With my girlfriend’s build, I just had to bite the bullet and buy a 20 series. I figured that the 2060 performance will be enough for 1080p, especially in DLSS enabled games for a few years still.
I also reckon the RTX performance level of a 2060 will still be the baseline going into the 30 series cards, it’ll just come in a cheaper package.
So those two would be my current general recommendations based on availability. A near half price 2080Ti on the second hand market, or a 2060 if under £300/$300.

Just checked the price of a new 2060 and it's around $350, and the second hand market is non-existent here. Would definitely be a bad buy considering that I wouldn't be able to sell it off later and I predict the RTX 3060 or its AMD equivalent being around the same price. I'm stuck with the RX 570 for now I think.
At this rate, 3xxx series will only be available here in Q42021, and probably at "launch prices" which going by the current conversion rate is gonna be $1k for a 3080, $750 for a 3070.
10xx series I got 2 cards 2-3 months after launch with only a $50 markup, and that was during the bitcoin craze. Covid has absolutely fucked tech imports. You can't even get decent 20xx cards on Amazon.mx right now. 2080tis are going for $2500 - $3000.

Still wouldn't rule out there being a sudden abundance of Ampere cards just around when Big Navi is about to release. Jen is devoted to that life.

what are the logistics for buying things from the US if you are in another country? Can you just buy something on from a private seller on ebay and pay more for shipping? Can it automatically do a current exchange? I've never purchased anything that someone didnt want to receive USD for.

From my experience you just pay directly in USD through card or paypal, and your bank is the one that takes care of the currency exchange rate. Tech items like computer parts, phones, laptops can be held in customs and be charged an additional import fee over here.

It's usually a percentage of the declared package value. Even if the package is marked as a gift (which reduces the value to 0 when it comes to delivery insurance) it can still be subject to a fee. It really depends on how annoying the people at customs want to be that day most likely.
Overall, it's not as difficult or annoying as it sounds. I've bought plenty of stuff from ebay, and most times is just about how much you trust the seller. Only items over $1000USD you are required to pay a customs agent fee to guarantee the import. The purpose is to guarantee things aren't mislabeled (copycat brands) or trying to avoid paying taxes by declaring lower value for highly sought tech items like iphones and tablets.
That's why most people just cross the border and straw purchase that stuff.

If they just open the package here, they charge you around 20 euros for it... even if it turns out, it shouldnt be taxed. i fume every time.
On a 1440p display is there a difference between;
A 1440p image downscaled to 1080p
A native 1440p image

Scaling always introduces changes in images unless it is a vector image, pixel art scaling to even ratios, or something similar. Doesn't matter whether you are upscaling or downscaling.
And that is without getting into things like trying to display something in a non-native resolution on a fixed pixel display (like lcd/led/oled/etc.).

well i thought that went without saying. native res is of course better, otherwise why would anyone even buy a higher res screen
1440p supersampled and down scaled to 1080p then up scaled back to 1440p for display on a 1440p screen will look different than natively rendered 1440p because all those sampling algorithms are changing the image in a one way fashion.
And here I am, googling to find out if I could remove the ugly Lian Li logo from the TU-150 without damaging the finish to make it look even more uniform and minimalistic.

When I moved on from my 10+ year old Antec 900 case I gave it to my brother and he covered it in every sticker he could find. It did not improve its looks at all.
https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-allegedly-cancels-geforce-rtx-3080-20gb-and-rtx-3070-16gb
Looking more likely that 7nm Ampere is coming next year if this turns out to be true.
NVIDIA allegedly cancels its December launch of GeForce RTX 3080 20GB and RTX 3070 16GB. This still very fresh information comes from two independent sources.
Technically GeForce RTX 3080 20GB and RTX 3070 16GB could launch at a later time, but the information that we have clearly stated that those SKUs have been canceled, not postponed. NVIDIA has already canceled its RTX 3070 Ti model (PG141 SKU 0), so the RTX 3070 16GB (PG141 SKU5) and RTX 3080 20GB (PG132 SKU20) will be joining the list.
The GeForce RTX 3080 20GB was expected to be a response to AMD Radeon RX 6900/6800 series featuring Navi 21 GPU. All three AMD SKUs will feature 16GB of memory, leaving NVIDIA with a smaller frame buffer to compete with.
We do not know the official reason for the cancellation. The RTX 3080 20GB might have been scrapped due to low GDDR6X yield issues, one source claims. The reason behind RTX 3070 16GB cancellation is unknown (this SKU uses GDDR6 memory).

I remember when I bought a new power supply and thought I was going to upgrade to an RTX 3090. Feels like 100 years ago.
By Wahabipapangus Go To Posta gpu overlapping a m.2 ssd shouldn't be a problem, right? Not in most use-cases, no. If you have like any airflow in that area, you will be fine. If you don't, you will still likely be fine unless you are heavily loading both the GPU and the SSD at the same time, which should be pretty rare.
alright thanks. semi optimistic about msi 3090's coming in stock soon in a store here. may allah be with me, despite not liking MSI or the look of their cards.
By Wahabipapangus Go To Posta gpu overlapping a m.2 ssd shouldn't be a problem, right?Depends, if there's a heatsink on it then the airflow from the GPU may actually cool it despite being warm air.
If the air just gets trapped between the M.2 and the GPU then it might cook a little bit, though it shouldn't noticeably impact performance unless you're doing a lot of prolonged reads/writes.
