Honestly think anyone who doesn't buy it at that price is either a terrorist or consorts with terrorists.
By Laboured Go To PostHonestly think anyone who doesn't buy it at that price is either a terrorist or consorts with terrorists.I wouldn't be able to afford the hardware necessary to run 4k at 120 fps, though. That's the only thing holding me back from it.
By Laboured Go To PostYeah I don't bother with the flap things.Your poor wife. It's called foreplay horse.
By Smokey Go To PostGOAT monitor (and the PG27UQ). $700 is a fantastic price for it.That’s the X27 pictured, but the article and price is for the cheaper model that they released that’s only HDR 400 and lacking FALD.
Still good tho
By Adam Go To PostIs there going to be a reasonably priced 4k/144 fps UW 32+ in the next year or so?well "4k" ultrawide doesn't exactly exist, there are 34'' and 35'' 3440x1440 panels and 38'' 3840x1600 panels. No higher resolution 21:9 panels are on the horizon anytime soon.
By diehard Go To PostIsn't the 27GN950-B better than that and retails for $799?Probably.

Aww, gotcha. Are those pretty reasonably priced?
By Adam Go To PostAww, gotcha. Are those pretty reasonably priced?the 34'' and 35'' yeah for sure, as little as $400-$500 for the little bit lower end brands with VA panels to about $800 for a higher end brand with nano-cell IPS panels.
Probably wont be finding a 38'' 144hz for less than about $1500 anytime soon.
I bought a NZXT H1, it's gonna be replacing the Asus laptop for my girlfriend and I can't wait to launch that POS out the window.
Given the current prices, it's looking like it'll be a i5 10400F build, doubt we'll be getting the other parts until later in the month though so that could change. My experience with Ryzen CPUs has been pretty iffy though so it'll probably still be Intel.

Just got my new keyboard. This is my first time with a compact keyboard and I feel like it's going to take some adjustments. This shit is tiny, but it feels great. I love the sound of the purple switches Vapes. I feel like writing essays just so I can keep hearing the clicks.

They’re really nice aren’t they? Especially considering how cheap they are in comparison to other boards with Cherry switches.
I’ve used Outemu blue, Cherry red, Gateron brown and those Kailh purple switches and they’ve been far and away the best feeling to use for games and general typing. I’ve thought about replacing them a few times, but I just feel no need to.

Z490 to take advantage of the kit of RAM I already have, seems a no brainer.
Don't see the point in waiting until next year for a 3060, the 2060 should do fine for a fair while at 1080p considering the only game that she's into is Fortnite. The H1 already includes the PSU and an AIO, so all good on that front.
A Ryzen 3600 and B550 is about £15 more for the CPU and motherboard, or £15 cheaper with a B450 board that only has a single M.2 slot.
Just shy of £900 including the H1. Seems decent value all in.
Yeah the name is dumb as hell but I feel like it’s gonna lead me into an addiction for a very expensive hobby
Custom build mechs. Keyboard feels really well built and not plastic shit like the big names sell. Putting in the purple switches was satisfying, I wish I would have gotten a full sized keyboard just to keep doing it.

I've been tempted to go with a fullsize board lately too, Just to fill out the desk more. I picked up a Logitech G213 for Rosie in the prime sale recently and there's just something about the aesthetic of a full size board that looks right. Realistically though, much like the temptation to change out the switches in my board, the 60% size and layout just suit me too well. I really need to tilt the board to play games without any aches in my wrist, and the tilt allows me to hit more keys with my board than having it straight does, I just can't do that with a full size or even TKL to the same extent.
Double post because I'm excited to put together another SFF PC. Here's my thought process on it.
I was skeptical of the NZXT H1 when it released, as at £300-£315 it wasn't really that good of a deal. Factoring in a decent SFX PSU and any adequate cooler, there were a fair few different small cases that worked out to be a better deal. On top of that, the GPU cooling is less than desirable. Especially at the higher end of the spectrum.
That said, currently SFX PSUs are not especially cheap or readily available and the case was £290 when I ordered it. A small saving, but the included PSU there was a selling factor. The AIO, I could take or leave, but if nothing else it is convenient, and more than enough for a mid tier CPU.
Going with a 2060KO should nullify the GPU cooling issues, and with the i5 10400 there should be plenty of headroom to flip the AIO fan to exhaust to further assist the GPU temps if they're still an issue (the case really suffers due to the glass panel blocking the GPU from exhausting air, and a lack of any exhaust fans). So on that front, I feel I've solved the potential issues that could arise.
Going with a Z490 board was a no brainer. I already have a spare kit of 3200mhz CL14 RAM, which benefits the 10400 a lot in gaming performance, even bringing it up to speed with a stock 8700K and above a Ryzen 3600. As mentioned, the current prices are more favourable towards the 10400 anyway, but even it was a little more than the 3600 I think I'd still go with the i5. I've just not had a great time with Ryzen CPUs, and part of this build in general is to reduce the headaches I've had with dealing with the Ryzen 3750H based laptop she's been using for the last year.
Waiting for the Ryzen 5000 series was out of the question, the cost of a 5600X is way out there compared to the i5 or current 3600, and mans got an OLED to buy still. Besides, the 2060 should be a good match for the i5, so a better CPU isn't going to bring in more performance.
I did also consider buying a 3080 for myself and giving her the 2080Ti, but given there's no solid estimate on when the 3080's will be freely available, out of the question.
The parts should all be here by Sunday, so I'll be throwing some build pics up along with before and after pics of here set up if anyone's interested.

Genuinely don't understand how anybody is legitimately buying 3080s/3090s. Some stock went up on eBuyer earlier for the 3090, £1600 a piece and gone in 8 minutes flat. Unbelievable.
Stock wasn't great for the 2080Ti but i still managed to buy one outright within the first week from a regular seller without scouting out stock levels, pre-ordering or any other fuckery.

LG has entered the chat:
A new 5K2K Ultrawide IPS Panel in 40″ Size
An interesting new panel size/format has appeared in their plans as well. The LM400RW1-SSA1 is expected to go in to production in Q1 2021 and will offer a 40″ sized IPS panel. It has a 5120 x 2160 resolution which is an ultrawide format close to 21:9 aspect ratio. This panel would be curved with a 2500R and offers 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness and 98% DCI-P3 specs so far.

just 300 nits?
I really wish LG could just make like a 32''-37'' version of the C10.
31.5'' 8K panels that is crazy my hell

I don't get it either and I've no idea where or when to look for stock to appear around EU. Much as I want one, I'm not going to pay extra and go through crazy processes to get one. Gives me more time to bitch about Nvidia and Samsung's shitty 8nm node(it's a fine node).
The situation is beyond dire, if the numbers Proshop.de posted to keep from getting harassed from nerds are any indication. They ordered ~7000 3080s and 90s combined from various manufacturers to keep up with demand and only received ~500 so far. I don't know if the number of cards available really isn't significantly different compared to previous launches - board partners are saying it's about the same, but they could be just covering for Nvidia, who knows.
The demand for the 3080 at least is insane tho, that much is obvious. Lackluster 2000-series performance and RT / DLSS woes kept a lot of 1000-series owners at bay and now they're / we're back with a vengeance.

the lockdown demand is crazy, but there should be plenty of stock within the next few weeks. huge shipments coming apparently, nvidia just building up this fervour
Following the rumours, I 100% would not at all be surprised if the current 3080/3090 are quietly discontinued in favour of the 20GB 3080 and/or 3080/3090 models on TSMC’s 7nm process in 2021.
It’s the kinda shit Nvidia would pull on early adopters.

I've heard some sites are prioritizing stock for their pre-builts/built-to-order PCs. It'd probably be more reliable and cost effective to buy a prebuilt with a 3080, swap the GPU out for whatever you have currently and sell the system on rn.
Assembly was harder than I expected due to the corners of the case blocking access to the motherboard screws, but otherwise not too bad. Built in easier SFF cases though. Other than that, not a lot to say about this build. There's no RGB, and the whole case is black. It wasn't intentional but the overall small and understated look to it is nice. Another upside is that with the panels on, I can't see the misalignment on the EK Monarch RAM heatsinks, that shit has bugged me since last year. Clearance on them looks tight, probably 2mm off the limit. I wasn't sure if they would fit but I've gotten pretty good at eye-balling compatibility like that.
Haven't tested anything on it yet besides ensuring that it would boot and giving the BIOS a look. Very similar to the ASRock Z390 BIOS I'm already familiar with, so that's a bonus.
Bonus pic:
I had to take one of the M.2 drives out of her laptop for the build, when I took the bottom off this is what greeted me. Pretty sure I read on Asus's website that they're "dust resistance and self cleaning", lmao
