By Kibner Go To PostBecause that is how you benchmark CPU limited situations in games. You know this. lol
It's close but the Radeon doesn't beat the 3080TI. In terms of raytracing I believe it's probably going to get smoked.
Ah well. 300$ for 5600X seems like a bargain and the 65W suggests that they are killing the ordinary 5600.
EDIT: Oh wait. I paid 200€ for my 3600 - well then that price is pretty steep.

By Smokey Go To PostReally out here quoting 1080p figures. Unless you're on a 240hz+ monitor who in the fuck is still gaming at 1080p outside of Dr BladeNah fam, they're important. Genuinely if if you don't play at 1080p, they're (in my opinion) still a good indication of how much performance overhead there is in a CPU when you're playing at higher resolutions. Also that applies to upgrading from one GPU to another down the line.
Plus if we based CPU performance in gaming at 4K, we wouldn't have been shitting on AMD for the last 3 years for lackluster gaming performance as it's near identical to Intel at that resolution.
Now those Radeon GPU numbers.
Borderlands 3, 61FPS
Modern Warfare, 88FPS
Gears 5, 73FPS
I'm pulling from various benchmarks for the 3080.
Borderlands 3, 66FPS
Modern Warfare, 101FPS
Gears 5, 80FPS
RIP Big Navi
*sigh*
Pretender Su fails us again on the GPU front, they gonna keep losing ground to NVIDIA.

I see a 3080 and a 5900X in my future, although depending on availability and the fact that 3080 is the real priority ... if February comes around and I'm still rocking a 7700k, I might as well wait to see Intel's (very late) counter. I imagine they'll get the single thread performance crown back, only to lose it again to 5nm Zen 4.
Even as someone with a secondary 240hz 1080p monitor, I don't think ST performance really matters at that level. The deciding factor might as well be who gives you more cores per dollar / euro, what the platform features are (PCIe4.0, basically) and what's actually available to buy.
5950X would be nice for bragging rights, but nothing I do makes proper use of that many cores, so 12/24 makes much more sense.

By inky Go To PostZen 3 gonna help if you still have a working 650w to pair a 3xxx series withNot a factor for me, since I'm on 750W, but that's a good point. Less heat often translates to less fan noise, so that's a plus regardless.
By inky Go To PostZen 3 gonna help if you still have a working 650w to pair a 3xxx series withAlthough still almost assuredly lower than anything Intel has to offer currently, AMD's TDP is not an accurate representation of total power draw from the CPU. Generally their 65w parts draw around 90w, and their 105w parts draw around 145w.
forget the zen stuff, i'm here choking on saliva from laughing at Vapes calling a coworker a nonce and still having a job.
Like fucking hell your managers and HR must think he's a nonce too, if you only got a warning for essentially calling him a paedophile lmao

The manager was present at the time too. I was “let off” with a verbal warning, expires in December. I regret nothing, cunt deserved it.
Nonces need telling they're nonces. It could even be classified as therapy for them, and you should charge at an hourly rate accordingly.

anyone what assets they're acquiring?
Might get blocked.
I signed up for the 3090 queues on evga’s website. I guess I’ll just buy one whenever my turn comes. Sigh, it’s probably going to be a few more weeks at this rate.
So given the listed prices for AMD’s 5600X, 5800X and 5900X. The roles have completed reversed in the CPU market.
Intel will be the “better value” buy for some people whereas for the last three years it was always AMD.
In the $300 price range the line up looks like this going off PCPP’s prices:
10700 $320 (8c/16t)
5600X $300 (6c/12t)
10600K $275 (6c/12t)
So in that budget, you can save a negligible amount of money with the 10600K, or move up to a 10700 for the extra cores and threads if that’s more suitable to your use cases, though it lacks overclocking.
Going up a tier, it’s the same story but the saving becomes somewhat substantial in regards to buying a 10700K over a 5800X. And still going up to a 10 core CPU is only a small jump in price if you’d benefit more from it.
10700K $380 (8c/16t)
5800X $450 (8c/16t)
10850K $485 (10c/16t)
Despite that, I don’t think I’ll be recommending Intel to anybody for a while unless there’s some major fuckery with the 5000 series CPUs.
There’s also the chance that a 5600X is extremely close to a 10700 in MT applications, and same goes for the 5800X vs a 10850K. Benchmarks are going to be pretty interesting either way.

Not sure, if those newly introduced (but yet too expensive) refresh 3X00XT CPUs are going to be kept around a bit longer.
Good video taking about game loading for various types of drives:
Tldw: if you are going to use a single drive for everything, get a Pcie 3.0 SSD with some dram and possibly TLC instead of QLC.
Getting a second drive just for games? Get the cheapest SSD you can find as it doesn't really matter.
Hdd's should not be a consideration for your boot, application, or game drive.

Status quo. Interesting to see if certain SSD speeds going to be mandatory for upcoming next-gen games. NVME 3.0 SSDs are getting discounts but I think I'll hold out for Phison E16 or 18 chips since I only have one full speed 4.0 PCI Express slot.

3090 ventus is available from dell...but I think this is towards the bottom of the stack fot the 3090s...

I can't believe I still cant find a viable replacement for using a soundblaster sound card + SPDIF for surround sound.

e: in general, Topping makes fantastic budget audio gear and i recommend them wholeheartedly
I updated the link to a more reputable seller. Topping is not a rip-off of another brand or anything. They do their own stuff and are legit.
So that looks like it can send out a LPCM signal which which would get you 2 channel audio but in order to get multichannel audio PC audio has to be either already encoded in DTS or Dolby, or be encoded in real time.
DTS Connect and Dolby Digital Live both encode audio into a multichannel LPCM signal that a receiver can take and get surround sound. Both of these solutions are old and being phased out almost entirely with everyone saying something to the effect of "oh HDMI audio is the new standard anyway" but i can't find anywhere that tells me how to get multichannel HDMI audio that isn't already encoded to my receiver from anything on the market. That was also messed up where you are just buying expensive hardware just because the manufacturer of that sound card paid the licensing fee to use those encoders.
I think i might be able to use Dolby Atmos + an Atmos receiver to get surround sound from games that have that encoded but i'm still not sure.. it seems like nobody is actually doing this and everyone who has surround sound on their PC is still just used the old three 3.5mm jacks connection.
Audio is the only area that i envy console players.

By Kibner Go To PostI'm guessing HDMI audio out of your GPU doesn't work?Nope :/ I get stereo audio .
I think if my receiver was Atmos i could at least get it working in some games like COD that way though. There is also something about how you have to have it hooked up to a display, it seems a few people actually hook up a second monitor to their receiver solely for the ability for the receiver to extract audio. It's all madness. I have a TV here maybe i'll try it.
Just need to do something as my audio is now dropping in and out and my troubleshooting ability for this Frankensteins monster is limited.
Looks like the only other options I have been able to find and trust are either other sound cards (various Sound Blaster and Xonar cards) or using your motherboard's optical out (assuming yours has it).
I am also assuming you know enough about Windows sound settings to make sure Windows is set to output more than just stereo over HDMI through your GPU.
