By Celcius Go To PostWeren't 3090 reviews supposed to go up today? Did that get changed?
Tomorrow. Always been the 24th.
Ugh, I tried to add one to cart on Newegg then the site went down. Now it's back up and they're sold out.
Nvidia's website went straight from notify me to sold out.
I don't see anything listed on EVGA's website.
I think I'm just going to wait for general availability... I've never seen a launch like this before.

from the techpowerup review, you should really just go for a 3080 if you're not a 4k.
3090 does give that extra bit of push at 4k where every frame helps, but at 1440p they seem pretty close.
It's a good jump over the 2080ti perf at 4k

Non-gaming power consumption of RTX 3090 is a bit high, even compared to RTX 3080, which is surprised because both are based on the same GPU chip.
During gaming, power consumption of the ASUS STRIX is around 335 W, surprisingly lower than those of other RTX 3090s that we tested today, and those cards don't run as fast. It's possible that ASUS uses only better binned GPUs for the STRIX, with better efficiency characteristics. While the heatsinks and coolers on the 3090 are massive, and ensure these chips are properly cooled, you also have to consider that all this heat is going into your room.
Furmark maximum power almost hits 450 W, wow, but thanks to the card's 3x 8-pin power inputs this won't be a problem.
Recommended PSU: 800 W

pull up with that and a 3090 to the house, and i'm letting yall know this shit fire af
The performance uplift over a 2080Ti is pretty huge, there's just not enough of a difference between the 3080 and 3090 to justify the latter given the cost difference. If it came with 12GB of VRAM and launched at £900-£1000, I think more people would happily accept the 10-15% performance difference between it and the 3080.
By Adam Go To PostHUB's review shows ~8% improvement over 3080 at 1440p.Are they still benching at 1440p with a Ryzen 3000 CPU tho?
For 200% the price of a 3080?
lol no

🤔 Yes.
I think the 3090 FE PCB is also the same as the 3080 FE’s PCB. I thought it would’ve be taller due to the taller heatsink. If they’re identical then that means it would fit in my case with a block on it.
Not like I’ve got a track record for spending over a grand on a GPU 👀

100 people camping out to spend almost $1600 is nuts. I'm looking forward to the upcoming 1440p warz over the 2K/4K/8K battle royale.
The 3070 is calling my name but I'll probably wait for LG to catch up on the monitor side before building a pc.

For years HUB have argued for using the best performing CPU for GPU benchmarks and the best performing GPU for CPU benchmarks to eliminate the CPU/GPU bottleneck in testing. Credit to them for then going back over the games used in the initial benchmarks for the 3080 with the 3950X and comparing it to the same runs with a 10900K, but it only serves to highlight the issue.
The 3080 paired with a 10900K as opposed to paired with a 3950X, from their own video:
20% faster in Flight Sim at 1440p
17% faster in Gears 5 at 1440p
21% faster in Metro Exodus at 1440p
10% faster in Hitman 2 at 1440p
That's 4 out of the 14 games they tested, all clearly bottlenecked by a 3950X. The data is smoothed out by averaging it all out to just a 5% difference.
To put it in another perspective, say they only benched 12 games, cutting Gears and Flight Sim from the list. 12 games total, 2 games with a massive performance deficit. Stick with me now because I'm going weird with this: You get paid monthly, for 10 months of the year you get 100% of your wage, 1 month you get 79% of your wage and another month you get 90% of your wage. Would you notice the difference in pay? I would.
At 4k the leap over the 2080ti is there, for sure. you should be running a 3090 at a 4k min res anyway
do not @ me drblade

Oh I'm well aware, which is why I went 9900KS last time.
I'm just saying that even if it's max average ~15% improvement over 3080 at over double the price, you can miss me with that given I only play at 1440p.
Might wait till the next-gen since I'm probably not gonna get a 4K monitor till 2021 at the earliest

Yeah I agree with that, I'm just ranting on HUB since I think they're a bad source for accurate data currently on a game by game basis for the 3080/3090.
is the 3080 supposed to be available today? i have an offer to buy the gigabyte 3080 for $674.99 because of my birthday and it says add to cart but then says it's not available online

I'd guess it's just BB's site bugging out. Nvidia's own site bugs out too, it'll say instock sometimes and if you click it you'll just a get a blank pop-up.

The 3090 seems to be dumbest gaming GPU since the Voodoo5 6000.
But it explains why the 3080 has been released with only 10GB VRam

By Red Blaster Go To Post3080 too stronk and thus making the 3090 a dudI mean this is really in line with what past Titans have been (Other than the OG Titan with its non-nerfed FP64 performance). They should have just named it Titan again and there wouldn't be a negative reaction.
I guess there still could be a "real" Titan upcoming as even the 3090 isnt a fully unlocked GA102

I didn’t know that. What’s missing from the 3090 die?
I wouldn’t be surprised by a Titan release either though. Nvidia know they can charge between 2K and 3K for the Titan branding and driver level features that come with it. They’d be leaving money on the table by not releasing one.

I was wrong. The 3090 FE is extended past the PCIE bracket and seems pretty much as tall as the heatsink is.
Just get one that didn't cheap out?
Or save us amd. Please I don't want to use nvidia experience anymore

Great, now the one I wanted, the TUF, will be hard to get for even longer, 'cause everyone will be stanning for that one. Gg Nvidia and partners.
No surprise Zotac is one of the iffy ones. Will probably be the first ones to have 3XXX series cards here too.
The biggest surprise here is that Asus DIDN'T cheap out on the board components, considering they couldn't even afford to use the correct screws on the 5700XT Strix.
