By HonestVapes Go To PostSeemingly, with Nvidia's recently announced RTX I/O feature that they announced, and Mircrosoft's DirectStorage API, read/write speeds for SSD's won't really matter that much. Any decent PCIE 3.0 drive, or any PCIE 4.0 should be fine to get the most out of those features.
Nvidia themselves have claimed there's no minimum requirement for a SSD's speed to make use of RTX I/O.
Frankly, I wouldn't stress over getting the best/fastest drive in light of those features/
Huh, had not seen that. Thought DirectStorage at minimum was PCIe 4.0 only.
By Laboured Go To PostHuh, had not seen that. Thought DirectStorage at minimum was PCIe 4.0 only.I might be wrong on the DirectStorage API requirement.
Regarding RTX I/O, that information is from their AMA on
Struggling a bit with how I want to go about my next build, specifically what case to use.
Now that 3xxx series' HDMI 2.1 is confirmed to be 48Gbps and I'll be able to take advantage of that 12-bit RGB 120hz HDR signal processing to the C9 - something that Cavalo won't on his lowly CX, lest we forget - I'd love a smaller, decidedly portable case to take down to the living room for that occasional 4K OLED gaming.
At the same time I really don't want to compromise on silence, so idk. I've been looking at the Lian Li TU-150 for some time now. Small, but not too small, so I could still fit in a large CPU tower, and I love the handle. I just wish it was more airflow friendly.

TU150 doesn’t really struggle in terms of airflow from what I’ve seen, but the NR200P might be a better option all around.
It doesn’t fit a D15, but a U12A fits, as do 280mm AIOs. Option for vented or glass side panel, dedicated exhaust fans at the top of the case.
All around top performer.
By HonestVapes Go To Post3D print one, Zabo.I'd also like to keep costs under control and continue using my Dark Rock Pro 4. Leaning TU-150 for the moment.
I'd definitely 3D print better feet for the TU-150 tho.
By Zabojnik Go To PostI'd also like to keep costs under control and continue using my Dark Rock Pro 4. Leaning TU-150 for the moment.Oh shit, you already have the DRP4? Yeah, TU150 is the play. Though keep in mind, you'll need an SFX PSU too and they're not super cheap at the moment.
SF600/SF750 Platinum are good units, Cooler Master have an 850w coming soon.
The SF750 has been quiet in my year or so of using it. Never spins up at idle, never heard it spin up under load with the 2080Ti/9900K.
By Zabojnik Go To PostForgot about the need for a SFX(-L) PSU. Oh well.
I always recommend the Sliger Cerberus X to people downsizing tbh.
Full ATX PSU support, fits ATX motherboards and chonky GPUs, option for a handle, etc. The only draw back is that with an ATX PSU, you're limited to low profile CPU coolers or AIOs, but the money you would save elsewhere likely more than makes up for that. Plus, you wouldn't be limited to ITX boards.

Fams. I want a new mousepad. What's good these days in the 450x400mm or 900x400mm range?
Been using a Steelseries pad for years now.

My favorite is still Artisan. Somewhat difficult to find and their English site still has terrible translations. https://www.artisan-jp.com/nj_index_eng.html

You have my full trust. Which pad of theirs do you have?
By HonestVapes Go To PostYou have my full trust. Which pad of theirs do you have?Hayate with medium softness. I ordered a soft version (or was it extra soft?) prior to that and it was soft enough that my mouse registered movement of I rested my wrist on the pad. My current one is five years old and shows wear but still glides well enough and, despite being cloth, has had no fraying.
They have a bunch of different pads for different uses. They even have one that uses glass beads woven into the cloth of you want something super slick. It's worth looking around.

Gonna look into it, but I’d probably go with the same one you have.
Also, is that a custom cable on the mouse? I think I remember you were looking into that a while back.

By inky Go To PostYou pro gamers and your artisanal Manta Ray skin mousepads. I want one.The Artisan mousepads aren't too terribly expensive if the shipping from Japan doesn't cost too much. Like $25-35 + shipping for a cloth mousepad that, imo, can last several years.
Certainly more expensive than most mousepads, but worth it. I got to try a bunch of their prototypes at a QuakeCon several years ago and haven't really found anything I like better.
Vapes, me taking a picture of my mouse pad made me realize that I did need to get a new one. I ordered two of the Medium sized Zero pads with Soft softness (one for me and one for gf). Should be right around $80 after shipping and currency conversion.
I may have preferred Large size, but it looks like I don't actually use that much of my mouse pad to begin with, it fits a little better on my desk, and they were also all out of stock for Large and Extra Large.

Your only limitation is your imagination.
All it takes is one of these to make any case compatible with any card
By HonestVapes Go To Post@Smokey, haven't you got that wireless G502? How's it feel in the hand?
Love it. Fits perfectly. I already had the OG 502 and it was one of my favs, but the wire broke.

Thought You did, I ordered one earlier because I remember you were a fan of it, should get it tomorrow.
I love my Model O- but I’ve needed something more relaxed and comfortable to use for casual games and general use.
Been getting pain in my ring finger for the past few weeks that I’ve attributed to finger tip gripping the O- constantly.
Yes, Kibner, I did look into that Kinesis ergo mouse you use but getting it in the UK meant importing it.
I saw Razer’s wireless Naga Pro too, that was tempting me. That groove on the right side for the ring finger looked comfy af. £150 for a mouse though seemed a bit too steep.
I was also tempted to get a Model D in white to contrast the black O- and keep all my peripherals on brand. I really needed the second mouse to be wireless though.
Yeah, my preferred mouse is not worth the importing costs.

By HonestVapes Go To PostDid you watch his other recent video on the “cheap” Xeon CPUs? That was quality content.I don't believe so. I'll have to go back through and find it. I was trying to relax after six straight hours of mind numbing work and found the one above great for decompression.
