By HonestVapes Go To PostAs early adopters of RTX, Smokey, Adam and myself should all receive a bonus from those on Slaent looking to buy a 3000 series card. I propose 10% of the cost of the GPU you buy. 10% each that is. £1400 for a 3090, + £420 for the Slaent Elite tax is fair all things considered.
Cosigned.
The jump in performance was about time. Feel nVidia took it's sweet time due to the lacking competition from AMD.
But I'm not overly impressed yet. More than anything I want a 2.1 HDMI card to be able to use 4K120 but I'm not going to compromise in terms of silence and relative coolness of the card. So let's see how the series performs here.
Interested in seeing what AMD has to offer even though I'm stuck with nVidia because of G-Sync compability (LG 9series not getting FreeSync). Maybe they are able to compete and push the price at least.

cool thanks, not sure if 8 GB of VRAM is enough for the upcoming generation. will wait to see if AMD has anything to show
yeah amd is being hyped up a lot, likely have something better than a 3080, but no 3090 competitor. should be a fun few months
I’m somewhat skeptically of how the 3070 is being marketed as on par/faster than a 2080Ti. I recall them saying the same about the 2070 being on par/faster than a Titan in 2018. Can’t remember if it was the Titan X or Xp though.
In any case, it wasn’t. I reckon it the 3070 will be faster when it comes to ray tracing. Definitely think we’ll see some ups and downs in benchmarks between a 3070 and 2080Ti though.
In any case, the 2080Ti is about to become a mid range card and I kinda love that.

Not feeling that great about the vram situation, do we think their partners will be addressing that? I imagine it’s almost certain they will slot something in between the 3080 and the 3090 at some point, so maybe that’s where it comes in.
If the cooling/noise on the FEs is decent, this might be the first time I go for one of them

RAM will be addressed in the revisions, unfortunately. I doubt it will be an issue during its 3-4 year lifespan.
I had one a couple of years ago, decent cooler, build quality was ok.
Gotta wait and see how the FE performs noise-wise. Hope it's good, 'cause all AIB designs feel outdated and uninspired.

Gotta say the FEs certainly look a lot nicer than the AIBs I've seen, which is kinda surprising tbh. Also keep wondering whether Nvidia really do generally keep a higher proportion of higher binned cards for themselves.

By rerixo Go To Posthow are Palit gpus? they've gone cheaper than RRP for their cheapest models: £450 3070, £640 3080Good. Had a Palit 1050Ti, sold it to a friend with my old PC and it’s still going strong.

how long did it take you to put your loop together

hmm
what number loop is this for you
By Smokey Go To PosthmmI did two in the NCase. One last year, then retubed it with ZMT this year. Switched to the Lian Li Q37 this year, did my initial tube run, wasn’t happy with it so I redid it again the following week.

So two or four, depending on how you want to count it.
How long do you think the 3080 will take to sell out? and then how long will it take to come back, I was looking to build Mid November, but don't want to miss out!

By mid November you should probably be fine. But honestly no one really knows atm.
Currently working on convincing my gf to ditch her laptop, so I can give her my 2080Ti in a new build and have an excuse to upgrade.
She’s not taking the bait.

Of all the cards I've seen thus far, the FE really is the best looking of the bunch.
Really curious what FE waterblocks are going to look like.

these FEs are the best looking gpus of all time
but dont seem practical for sandwich layout cases unfortunately

By rerixo Go To Postthese FEs are the best looking gpus of all timeI don't think they'd fair poorly in something like the Sliger SM5XX or FormD T1, as in both the PSU can be spaced slightly away from the backside of the GPU and you have the option for two fans as active exhaust underneath.

DAN A4 and Ghost S1 (without top hats) are shit out of luck though.
Are you able to answer if they at least fit the NVIDIA Founders Edition cards? Since it sounds like there wont be an actual "reference" PCB this time around, with only the FE cards using the new 12 pin connector and all AIB cards using either 2x8 or 3x8 pin.
No the blocks would not fit the Founders Edition cards. FE cards are not reference anymore. I dont know why they have decided to go that way. All the other graphics card are reference design.
From an Alphacool rep regarding FE waterblocks.
So if I did upgrade, I couldn't go with an FE, at least not currently. Interesting.
Edit: Hypothetically, I really think the EVGA Hydro Copper would be the best option. The PCB height seems standard, in line with the I/O bracket. So it’d be easy to fit in my Q37 along with any other case I might end up using in the future.
All hypothetical. I’m not at all tempted to sideline my 2080Ti 👀
By HonestVapes Go To PostWtf how big is this
Not that I was ever gonna buy it, but I had to check if my 650w PSU even had three 8 pin connectors. It has 4 wtf...
By FootbalIFan Go To PostWtf how big is this
Extra medium.
Think mine only has two.
Anyways, see a full PCI-e 4.0 build in my future in the next year. Just not sure if I can be bothered to wait for Intel to get its arse in gear.

Will these be the best cards for my upgrade
Or will there be some new 3090ti version?
Thanks

Disclaimer: I am not Zabo.
However, the DF lads reckoned there might be one. There also definitely seems to be a performance gap for a 3080ti as well.

That's good. Hopefully there is something at that point as I'll be giving away my current pc and upgrading completely again around November next year

Rocket league
Worms Armageddon
Trackmania

All maybe in 8k or at least 4k, incredible

I think it's incredibly likely that the 3090 is top end card, and will only be "bested" by an Ampere Titan card until the 4000 series rolls around in maybe 2 years.
I do believe a 3080 Ti/Super will release within 12 months that'll slot in between the 3080 and 3090 for price/performance/VRAM amount.
By FootbalIFan Go To PostDisclaimer: thanks
I mentioned it earlier in thread regarding EVGA only releasing a Kingpin model for the top tier non-Titan card, and they're already set to launch one for the 3090. Which is what I'm basing my speculation on.

What about SSDs? Will there be faster than PlayStation 5™️®️ SSD options
By FootbalIFan Go To PostRight right, makes senseSeemingly, with Nvidia's recently announced RTX I/O feature that they announced, and Mircrosoft's DirectStorage API, read/write speeds for SSD's won't really matter that much. Any decent PCIE 3.0 drive, or any PCIE 4.0 should be fine to get the most out of those features.
What about SSDs? Will there be faster than PlayStation 5™️®️ SSD options
Nvidia themselves have claimed there's no minimum requirement for a SSD's speed to make use of RTX I/O.
Frankly, I wouldn't stress over getting the best/fastest drive in light of those features/
outside of PS5 exclusives, the rest of gaming will still be in the past due to minimum PC requirements. DF confirmed as much in their recent discussion.
