I actually had a really easy time keeping my bench clean, because it was easy to do it all the time, and not let it build up out of sight in a case.
I dig it. But I still haven't found anything that I like more than my CaseLabs BH4.

Hello dust
Dust build up on open “cases” is really overstated.
Also dust filters in traditional cases are a meme. Either too restrictive and choke airflow or not restrictive enough to filter dust out.
Whichever way, you’ll end cleaning the internals and filters, vs just the internals if you remove the filters.

love the aesthetics of that xproto case, but I'd be scared of damaging the components..... and cooling seems pretty restrictive if you want to maintain the look
great pics on the last page btw, seeing the progress of the vapes build is so cool. the lighting you get from that ram is nuts and the black/chrome tubing is slick
props to mikey too, those builds are next level

Well, I didn't know this. Gonna keep this in mind.

Full disclosure. There's people that'll disagree with my stance on filters and have an argument just as compelling as mine. I maintain that if you want to minimize dust build up in your PC, minimize dust in your house/room first.
It's a situation where if you want it to work right, you have to sacrifice on noise and have some really high performance fans at decently high RPM in order to offset the reduced airflow.
But ya, having low amounts of particulates in your house and getting the PC raised into the air (like on a wire rack) are going to be more beneficial.

Not seen that one before, but I can see the sense in it. The less surfaces in the way of the airflow, the less places dust can accumulate.
I'm also all for negative airflow setups. Probably has a lot more to do with the smaller cases I tend to build in, but I've found that time after time now that running a full exhaust set up just works out markedly better for temps. Definitely worse for dust accumulation, but I'm cleaning once a month either way so I don't see a major downside.

Same. Cant wait to get it. Despite only playing football manager, csgo and fall guys.

damn. what's voltages look like?
i'm idle at 39c w/ 1.305v @ 5ghz , 9900k

I've literally given up trying to play games (more than usual) this past week lol
By Smokey Go To Postdamn. what's voltages look like?Dunno, still running it at stock. Only two fans spinning at 1000RPM though with a 31c ambient.

I ain’t changing my fan curves for this bullshit weather.

yeah, that's warm af for bone stock.

Nope, never saw the point in actually overclocking for daily use since I see no difference in games at 4K with it at 4.7Ghz all vs 5Ghz all core (or 4.3Ghz for that matter).
It’s actually still fine under load too, with the fans on the second radiator spinning too, I top out at 50c on the water. 60c max on the GPU and 70c max on the CPU. Super relaxed fan curve, 1600RPM on the top radiator and 1400RPM on the bottom radiator. Set to max out both if the water ever creeps up to 55c, but so far so good on that front.
Running the CPU/GPU blocks in parallel does lead to slightly warmer CPU temps with a moderate pump speed, but I’m more than fine with it. Rather have a near silent PC at idle to relatively quiet at load over better temps with a more aggressive fan curve/running the pump beyond 60%.
What chairs are people using in here? There is no good stores near me with showcase rooms, which makes it really hard to decide on a new one. Current one is breaking apart, and it's extremely hot here during the summer. Not entirely opposed to spending herman milleresque money on one.

Not entirely opposed to spending herman milleresque money on one.Herman Miller and SteelCase are the two brands that have a bunch of chairs that would work out well. I think BodyBilt is another. There is also the ReGeneration by Knoll that's supposed to be pretty good and (relatively) cheap.
If you can, look for used chairs, especially Herman Millers. They are often lightly used or unused office chairs from a business that closed up.
It's not that hot here, I'm just semi fat and sweaty.
I did find a Herman Miller Embody refurbished for around 30% off normal price, which is what got me really looking at chairs again. I guess I could just return it again if I dont like it.

By Wahabipapangus Go To PostIt's not that hot here, I'm just semi fat and sweaty. You want a quality mesh chair, believe me. If I was willing to pay Herman Miller money, I'd go with the Aeron over the Embody for this very reason.
I've had this one for the last 7+ years and it's been the best ~500€ I've spent. No sweats, adjustable everything, lumbar and head support, mesh still as springy and new-looking as the day I bought it. The only thing that's started showing some wear & tear is the coating on the spongy arm rests, but that's easily replaceable, if and when it veers into ugly looking territory, which won't be for another couple of years, I reckon.
A buddy of mine recently bought a "high-end" gaming chair from Noble Chairs despite me imploring him not to and he's already bitching about sweating all over the thing.
Am I that friend? I'm on a noble chair right now. Feels bad man.
Not a huge fan of mesh chairs when i've tried them, though it wasnt herman miller and I guess I could get used to it. But switching out this leather noble chair with some normal textiles should be a huge uprade alone.

For sure, any breathable material will be better than leather. As for mesh, I guess it depends on the quality and tension. I love how mine stretches and perfectly molds around my ass. It's like being suspended on a cloud, I can sit in it for 5+ hours without feeling any discomfort whatsoever.
I have a pretty great office chair with a nice fabric cushion pad at work and while I don't get sweaty, after a while you start to feel the metal/plastic base beneath the cushion pressing up against your culetto.

Herman Miller Embody. It's pretty great.

Gonna have to open up the PG27UQ. The fan is now super loud when in use. You'd think it could be my PC, but nope, it's the monitor fan.
final update to my PC troubles, replaced my new 1660 Ti with my old 2013 GPU and my PC doesn't short itself anymore so good on EVGA for havinga a 3 year warranty. Good thing my old GPU can run Fall Guys fine for now
the one time i don't buy the extended warranty from microcenter, i could've really used it. since they don't have any pg27uq's in stock, i would've got the amount i paid for the monitor back as credit.
L
It's still under 3 year warranty from Asus, so i opened a RMA with them. Dreading it tbh.

I've heard only good things about Asus' warranty claims and customer service.
No, no I haven't. Good luck, Smokeh.

Edit: I've had a waterblock in my amazon cart for my X27 for over a week now. I'm in two minds on whether to watercool it or just slap on a new/better heatsink and fan to bring the noise down on it.
By HonestVapes Go To PostWhat's gone wrong with it?
fan is super loud. probably needs a cleaning, but opening it up voids the warranty which i have a year left of.

Curious, does the Asus model give you access to a "secret" menu in the OSD? The X27 does, and gives access to fan control and temp monitoring. You might be able to just drop the fan speed and check that the temps still stay good with it. Y'know, if Asus don't come through with their highly regarded customer service for you.

Thinking hard about putting the 2080ti up for sale this weekend m8s
Seems to be the perfect timing before the official event happens and tanks these cards. Especially if they're as powerful as the rumors indicate. Seeing a lot of cards go in the $900+ range in auctions on ebay, with hours left on the sale.

selling the 2080ti seems like a wise choice, but are we still expecting 3080ti this year? I lost track of the rumours. most leaks seem to be about 3080/3090

It is tempting, but I can't be arsed taking mine out and putting the original cooler on it at this point. Riding mine till it becomes obsolete and selling it for a tenner on ebay.
