I checked prices and I would be saving 500 euros. I wonder if it’s smart to spend 1.2k on this or wait until October and for the same price get similar performance specs, but brand new. If that’s something that would be possible I don’t know.
By Kibner Go To PostThe ram is the only weakpoint in that build but that is still good value, I think. Saves you probably about 3-400 from buying new. The ram at 3200 isn't bad but for Ryzen 2, you really want 3600 (3733 is what the infinity fabric maxes out at, iirc). I think 3200 is the max supported non-oc speed, but would have to look that up to be sure.
3600/3733mhz is more ideal, but there's not a massive difference in performance from what I've seen between a decent 3200mhz CL16 kit and and a 3600Mhz CL16 kit if you're just setting the XMP profile and calling it a day. Biggest difference comes from manually tuning.
Not shown in the video, but there can also be a performance gain in 32Gb vs 16Gb if the former uses dual rank DIMMs or if it's 4x8Gb sticks. I can't remember the exact details, but HUB went over that one a while ago.

By cRrusheR Go To PostShould we believe the rumors of Ampere being 4x faster at RT? That’s a big ass jump.Generally a 4x performance increase from one gen to the next is unheard of. With it being related to the dedicated RT cores though I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of it happening but I wouldn’t put a bet down on it either. It’s really a “wait for reviews” deal.
By Finiarel Go To PostLooking at getting this in a few weeksIt's a powerful gaming PC for sure. I did a quick check via PCPartsPicker and you'd be paying anywhere from 150 to 200 quid over what you'd spend, if you were to buy the same parts and build it yourself, which isn't too bad, I suppose. Is going DIY out of the question?

The list of components they used in the build is solid overall, though you could definitely do better on a couple of things within that price.
- while that Asus B450 motherboard is fine, ideally you'd want a B550 mobo for PCIe 4.0 support and issue-free compatibility with upcoming Ryzen 3 processors ... although with the 3900XT it's not like you'd be looking to upgrade the CPU anytime soon, so it might not matter to you
- the 550W Corsair CX is a rather basic PSU, a better / higher wattage power supply would be preferable; while 550W is enough for that CPU + GPU combo, a higher quality 650W PSU would be better for noise, power efficiency, future-proofing and peace of mind
- the 660p is a perfectly fine SSD for general use, but you can get a significantly faster 1TB SSD for not that much more money
As for the monitor, I'd have to know what kind of games you typically enjoy. 27" 2560x1440 144hz is the current sweet spot for gaming monitors and a combination of specs the above PC would have no problems driving. It's powerful enough for 4K gaming as well, especially where DLSS2.0 can be leveraged, but you'd probably have to compromise on graphical settings in demanding and / or ray-traced titles to get a stable 60fps+.
What Zabo said.
But also definitely go for the 1440p/144hz over a 4K screen. You will 100% need to drop the render scaling or settings for a consistent 60FPS at 4K in demanding titles, even I have to with a 2080 Ti.

Might get that headset for my girlfriend. She’s been using my old G533’s but complains daily about her hair getting caught in the plastic hinges.
They look more ideal.
Would go with proper headphones and a DAC/AMP but that’d be too cumbersome for how she uses her laptop.

Laptops are different. Unless you are using one as a desktop replacement and actually have it on a desktop, I would go wireless, as well.

Wireless bandwidth competing for both incoming and outgoing audio will always lead to this. I bet the mics in the wired and wireless are the exact same but there is only so much bandwidth to go around and they prioritize incoming audio over outgoing.

You can even hear him go back and forth between the wired version of the headphone and whatever he normally uses. Just a huge difference in tonality and overall richness of the sound.earseyes kibner
Really, the audio quality level for the mics of all those wireless headsets at the end of that video is justification for the wireless modmic, as expensive as it may be.

Want my Rift S?
It might be getting better now but anything related to WFH like headsets have been way overpriced lately.
I want my voice and game sound to be completely separate so I use a cheap single ear headset + 5.1 audio. I can't hear footsteps and junk like others can but i can watch TV while playing easier...

It's great, I just don't use it enough to justify having it since I don't really have enough space to make the most of it. Had it out the box 4-5 times since I bought it just before Christmas. £300, with kiwi straps and extension cables for display port and USB 3.0. Go halves on postage.
DM me if you're interested.

I think the IEMs are more because that's what's generally used at LANs, at least for professional players. Makes the most sense for them to practice with what they have to wear when it comes to playing comp.

PC had been working fine for months now suddenly it has this issue and Google isn't working:
Now after 1-2 hours after booting up, the screen signal turns off and my GPU fans go into overdrive and the only way to proceed is to restart my PC. I've already checked temperatures while gaming and the CPU temp is around 70 C, the GPU temp is around 45 C, so it doesn't seem to be a temperature issue. Anyone ever experienced something like this?

By Lupercal Go To PostAnyone have any recommendations for an easy use 3D printer?FMD or resin? You can go way lower than that for your first printer, unless you're going straight into ABS printing and need an enclosed / high temp printer. Creality printers are good bang for buck, I'm still happy with my Ender 3 Pro.
Say max 600 € ?
By Xpike Go To PostPC had been working fine for months now suddenly it has this issue and Google isn't working:Maybe something got borked with your drivers? Try uninstalling and re-installing your GPU drivers. Also, disable all overclocks for now. If that doesn't work, you may want to try an In-Place Windows Upgrade to repair your Windows install. It won't delete any of your files or games or anything; just reinstalls Windows.

Looks like Noctua has some competition for their Noctua NF-A12x25 fans. The Nidec Gentle Typhoon and Arctic P12 are nearly identical in performance. The Arctic is particularly notable because they are only $10 each instead of the near $30 of the Noctua. Main difference is motor noise that is more audible in certain RPM ranges.

Arctic have been killing it lately with their new AIOs and fan range. Their 140mm P14 fans are actually better Noctua's current offerings.
I don't believe they still make new Gentle Typhoon fans, but they're legendary. Noctua actually referenced them in their design slides too. You could say the A12x25 is the spiritual successor to the GT.

I think this is it.
Also, I keep thinking these cases are more than they really are. Looks like the Enthoo Pro 2 is only $139.
Think it's more of not wanting to tear down the existing rig knowing the beast of cables that lies within lol. But it must be done. At some point. I really like the versatility of that case.

Ryzen is cheaper and more bang for your buck, but if you're going all out I'd still stick with intel.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Poststarting to consider the new build brehs, mostly for code reasons, but its an excuse to go bigIf you need FPS above ~90 at all times and/or at ~144 most of the time, then Intel is still king. Ryzen2 can drop down to 60 occasionally in some titles and can barely hold steady above ~130 in several. Also, Intel has better performance in specifically Adobe products since they don't scale to multiple cores well.

For just about everything else, Ryzen2 (i.e. 3000 series) is better or cheaper.

intel still slightly better for gaming until ryzen 3 launches later this year
there are also a few compatibility issues depending on what sort of dev work you do, but those bugs seem to be getting ironed out quickly because of high ryzen adoption
but yeah for the most part amd >>> intel
