I spent a stupid amount of time thinking about the plothole of Captain America being an old man in Endgame when they explicitly said that you'll be going to a split timeline if you change the future.

Would have been worth seeing before Rebels gave us the GOAT Obi Wan moment.

Honestly OUATIH could've been 5 hours and I would've loved it. Just Pitt driving around late 60s LA listening to tremendous music is endlessly watchable and entertaining for me.
The soundtrack was all all time great imo

Sony is so fucking stupid. The reason Spider-Man IS your most successful franchise is solely because of Feige. Without him, you were on track to run it straight into the ground. Good luck making him Venom's sidekick, I guess

The Amazing Spider-Man movies and Venom both performed well at the box office despite bad reviews. Somehow, I think they'll be okay taking 100 per cent of whatever they make versus taking half of a Far From Home sequel.
Far From Home is their most successful Spider-Man movie ever. Amazing Spider-Man 2 was on a downward spiral. Denying that is ridiculous and revisionist.
Venom is the epitome of a fluke-- Sony had no idea what the fuck they were doing. They weren't going for memes. In fact, if they don't play up the Brock/symbiote love story I'll put everything on Serkis' sequel underperforming.
I want Disney to dissolve into waste. But Tom Rothman should be rocketed into space. Feige is their best bet for prolonged success, no matter how much they're splitting the take with Marvel.

Why would you waste all that money on rocketing Tom Rothman into space when you could simply club him to death with a sock full of batteries?
I wouldn't blame it all on Sony, Disney going for 50% is ridiculous.
Sony holds the movie rights for the character and that's all they get money from, Disney gets money from comics and merchandise.

By s y ngmi Go To PostBut the bottom line is, they made bank. They'll continue to make bank without fiege. It's exactly this. No matter how badly Sony has mismanaged Spider-Man, the movies make so much money that they'd rather have all the profits than half of them. Half of the Far From Home gross would still be less than Venom or ASM2 brought home for them. It's just business.
Sorry for the loss of all the Disney stans out there.
Let's not forget that Sony released the best Spider Man movie ever last year without the help of Disney.
By s y ngmi Go To PostBut the bottom line is, they made bank. They'll continue to make bank without fiege.ASM3 was going to make about 600m worldwide. Maybe sub-150m domestic. A consistent 50% on the biggest movies in the world is better than being forced to reboot ship after sinking ship

Sony set the blueprint how to break box office records with Spider-Man to begin with, so, not sure what they get to gain by giving Disney 50% of the cut
This is probably not over yet. It would be a mess for both companies as Spider Man is a big part of the MCU.
Holland is still Spider Man for another 2 movies and Jon Watts will still direct it.

Plus with RDJ and Evans gone, the only logical successor to Avenger's is Spider-Man. Everyone else left is ... not it.

It will get sorted, I would bet a decent chunk on it. Sony's maneuvering because they know they have the upper hand.
Just got out of OUATIH. Spoilers follow.
Was absolutely not prepared for how much of a slow-burn that was. Parts of it felt far more like an immersive VR experience of 1969 Hollywood than it did a narrative. That’s to the film’s credit and detriment; since Basterds the mise-en-scene in Tarantino’s films is so wonderful, and this is the very same. But, to someone who does not have nearly the same adoration for old Hollywood or Western TV shows as he does, it began to chafe a little just how lost in that world he got himself. Lots of shots of Brad Pitt driving.
However, by the end it all works out and retroactively means everything else makes sense. This was, by and large, a character study of Rick fuckin’ Dalton. DiCaprio is absolutely outstanding here; and the film is about him and his place in the world, his growth and his evolution. It’s gorgeous writing from Tarantino and Leo matches it; every tick and stutter, his tears and his body language, the way he begins the movie and the way he ends it... just brilliant from the pair of them.
What he did with Sharon Tate was wonderful too. Turning this wikipedia factfile into a symbol, a person, a hope, a dream, a lament of the end of the 60s. The ending, when the narration starts and it begins to creep towards the time she was murdered, introducing the victims, my stomach started dropping as I thought about what happened. And then to end so wistfully and optimistically, to portray the Manson family as the scuzzy hippy pricks they are... his head and intentions were super switched on right for this film.
Simultaneously a film that shows his growth and maturity as a director, with such a happy, hopeful ending and so beautifully woven throughout the film, but also self-indulgent to a fault. Thankfully it’s raised higher by the best character work he’s ever done. I went in expecting violent catharsis or some epic tale of the era he’s so fond of, and got something quite different indeed.
On first viewing, it’s high-middle of the pack Tarantino. Already growing in estimation.
