By Lunatic Go To PostI mean it's technically not welfare as they legally own the land.when you can just ask the government for 4 million pounds for house repairs it's welfare
I'm dying. Dude Downtown Abbey is all about how you can own land or a huge castle but you can't really do both and definitely not without new money every generation. Tenancy doesn't cut it. Even a dude who owns one of the biggest estates in the whole country turned it into a historical landmark and just lives there as a compromise.

By reilo Go To Postthe percentage of a state's population that are minorities is an effective predictor of educational achievement in that state though. there shouldn't be anything controversial about saying that.
Sure, you can assume that he secretly means that black people are dumb or some other racist accusation, but why would anyone think that of Biden?
By sohois Go To Postthe percentage of a state's population that are minorities is an effective predictor of educational achievement in that state though. there shouldn't be anything controversial about saying that.bruh, what? How is that an indicator of anything?
Let's swap out some words and let's see how this reads:
"the percentage of a state's population that are minorities is an effective predictor of crime in that state though."

It might be? The issue isn't pointing this out, it's pointing this out without laying the context for the observation. IE, if you're making a socioeconomic argument that minorities are starting from a shittier position, do a better job of clarifying that. Which I guess his campaign later did back when this happened in 2007.

He's not just said that Washington has more minorities and left it at that.

By baseball-batong Go To PostWhat about the ones in the Caribbean?I can only speak for Cayman but we doing aii. Also I believe immigrant blacks tend to do better than their domestic counterparts which is quite sad. Seems America is failing their own domestic population.

The second part of the quote didn't clarify anything about socioeconomics. They're just more observations that get us close to the point without him actually clarifying the point. Which is why his campaign clarified it was a socioeconomic related comment back in 2007.

So of course they do better than a population that consists of those who don't have those means.
By Kibner Go To PostImmigration is self-selective for those who already have the means to immigrate. So of course they do better than a population that consists of those who don't have those means.I don't know man back in day alot of people with the ability to leave would be considered to not have the means by today's standards and I personally know a alot of Jamaicans who have done well for themselves in America. I just don't believe that richest nation in the planet is doing enough for their domestic population. Excluding a largest percentage of your population from the economy can only lead the country's downfall in the long run.
By Lunatic Go To PostI don't know man back in day alot of people with the ability to leave would be considered to not have the means by today's standards and I personally know a alot of Jamaicans who have done well for themselves in America.Immigrating to the US is expensive. If you have the money to do that, you likely have the money and/or connections to start a life there a leg up on the domestic minorities who are far more likely to be born into abject poverty and struggle more than they should to leave it due to American policies and political structure.

But I think it has been for my lifetime. Also, if you don't have already have a graduate degree or a job offer upon application, the government will likely turn you away. I am also not sure how long that has been a thing, but also probably for decades.

Hey Fender do you think it's possible that John Bolton is just a Kurd sympathizer?
Like, if you look at it through the lens of Saddam Hussein persecuting the Kurds, then maybe them Iraqis had it coming yeah?
And now you see with Syria and Iran, same old story? Maybe John Bolton gets a statue in Kurdistan after it's all said and done m8.
Turkey maybe better watch out, they might be next.

People think that making the same as the dude next to you regardless of effort etc is a bad thing. That type of shit exists though, dudes aren't equal in output but are in pay. What they don't realize is that, they only know how much he makes because of collective bargaining. In a normal environment, the dude that works hard is often paid less than the schmuck but has no clue he's getting paid less. Since he doesn't have a comparable he's less powerful when negotiating for more. Knowing what everyone makes provide labor with leverage and collectively bargaining together increases that leverage.
