Sure, let's make a place that struggles to care for people struggle even more and make the hospital system circle the drain just like our public education system.
Can't wait for privately-run charter hospitals to pop up in order to offer "choice".
By Fenderputty Go To PostWarren proposed a gaggle of policy ideas and is way ahead of everyone in that regard. One of them isn't a good idea. Fuck her. 2020 is going to be lit.It wouldn't be a big deal if there wasn't something just as important that works similarly and has spectacularly failed. Like, this should have had her questioning that policy just on the face of it at first proposal by her staff or whomever came up with it.

Sure, it does reek of that.
By Fenderputty Go To PostSure, it does reek of that.which threatens the credibility of her "actually good" proposals.
By HasphatsAnts Go To Postwhich threatens the credibility of her "actually good" proposals.
That’s a rather black and white approach. Nobody is gonna propose only good ideas.
It's also a logical fallacy/whataboutism. It's important for her to come to a more informed decision but if you hate an entire candidacy based off of a single bad policy proposal then gg.
That's what happens when your entire campaign is based around swinging for the fences... That hospital shit is jokes.
I mean it is but it shouldn't threaten the credibility of her other proposals lol. She should get a better policy adviser in that area.
By Fenderputty Go To PostI'll take swinging for the fences over lame platitudes and feel good messages.....are you sure? Because I think you said the exact opposite once upon a time lol
but either way you can't bounce from proud Cherokee roots, to reparations, to free college, to no child left behind hospitals and expect anything other than harsh skepticism imo. This is what I'd expect out of someone angling for VP if anything.
By Smoke Dogg Go To PostOnly Biden would pick her for VP because he thinks he's McCain. So it all adds up ijs

Well i do think I’m am less moderate than I was .... and while I do think practicality matters, I think her proposals are more in line with that realism (minus reparations). She’s historically a more “reign in capitalism with regulation” than a “I’m an open socialist” kinda lady. If nothing else, her putting proposals out there puts pressure on other candidates. Beto flaming out as an empty shell as an example.
In the end I just want less infighting than 2016 and want someone other than Biden or Bernie. I know were all hyperbolic forum posters, but 2020 scares me. Trump wins and we don't take the senate and you can kiss another SCOTUS seat gone to the conservatives and more conservative judges in the federal appeals courts. (which is why both will have my vote if it comes down to it.)
A new poll this morning has Biden leading trump by 8, so I expect more people will coalesce around him as they feel he's safe. Maybe Warren can put pressure on him some. Sorta like Bernie did with Hillary.
By Fenderputty Go To PostThat’s a rather black and white approach. Nobody is gonna propose only good ideas.
when you base your campaign around "i'm the policy person" then you should prepare for the scrutiny your proposals are going to get. And if you're just throwing darts at the wall, then you gotta wonder, have you given all your proposals the time it needs to bake? Did you really take the time and think through universal free college or did you just throw it out there because it sounds good.
There's a reason most people don't run on policy driven campaigns. It's hard. platitudes and personal charm is a lot easier.
I think Warren has good ideas, and many of them are really worth exploring in depth, but she needs to hone in on one or two and stump for them. she's doing the homer simpson makeup shotgun rn. When's the last time you heard her talk about her corporate reform bill? That's a good bill.

To be clear ... I don't think Warren has a shot and have said as much. She can propose the most amazing policy imaginable and in the end it won't matter. I just hate this reflexive black and white fuck you or you're amazing approach to things. They all have their spots and the democratic voting base can't afford another 2016. The courts are the reason we need to win 2020, that and to bolster our redistricting capabilities. The"are you a citizen" census question seems like it's got a shot to fly through.
Must be nice to be so healthy and or live so comfortably you can shit on people for being worried about how a candidate and current senator is coming at healthcare.
Gets old having to have the same damn discussions about every other thing when the dems are supposedly better than the GOP.

By Baconsaurus Go To PostWhat's so bad about socialism
Depends on your definition of socialism. Clearly Biden is not a socialist, but in America everyone on the left is because everyone on the right and ceter is scared of socialism and the word itself carries no meaning outside of a political hot button word here. There is no distinction between government owning the means of production, democratic socialism with regulated capitalism as it's backbone and apparently Joe Biden. The tweets were meant to merely highlight what the attacks will be like during the 2020 elections. We're all arguing over Biden basically being republican light while the other side is painting him as a far left loon.

I don't mind the initiative shown - it's a stark contrast from the usual democratic offering.

International agencies and media rushing to get news out as quick as possible without verification. And a country like Sri Lanka simply having very, very little experience in putting bodies back together in that scale of a catastrophic attack.

It is sad to me that you must tell lies.
Ask yourself this. Would evangelion have existed if the US didn't drop two freedom nukes on Japan? I think not!

Said as much before. It's never even seen as a real thing to be a homemade threat until after the fact. It's hell stopping shit because the window of where you can actually have the most effect is much, much smaller than people realize especially compared against foreign stuff.
Federal laws lack the legal tools the government needs to bring a domestic terrorism case against Hasson, because they generally center around the threat posed by foreign groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda. Experts say they’re inadequate to prevent a far-right domestic terrorist attack before it happens.
“Any kind of idea of prosecuting Hasson for domestic terrorism or charges is just not feasible under current federal criminal statute,” said Jason Blazakis, a professor at Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey and former director of Counterterrorism Finance and Designations office at the U.S State Department.

Even the tweet made it seem like the judge had no recourse. What’s the point of finding these dudes if you don’t have a legal path to do something. Nothing has effectively changed. He’s still a massive fucking danger and will be in the public again

Nothing has effectively changed. He’s still a massive fucking danger and will be in the public againWell I'm not gonna be like duh but this is America and white domestic terror is institutionalized - it's not on the judge here. The prosecutor is the one who feels he can't push those charges. Fortunately there's a gang of other associated crimes that are going along with it all - and maybe an outside chance UCMJ does the heavy lifting...
But it's not a mystery as to why planning racially motivated crimes is somehow partially missing from the books
By Pennywise Go To PostNo freedom.Capitalism gives you all the freedom... You just have to pay for it.
It's funny how when anyone argues against socialism in bad faith they always fail to mention the people with the most money who control everything. People are already getting "taxed" as it is for healthcare, only we have shitty middleman insurance companies that line their pockets up just so you can get some care... And even then you might not be covered or you're only allowed to visit specific places.
The underlying foundation of socialism is to give more power to the people as a collective i.e. unions, consumer rights and the like. I remember becoming completely disillusioned with the dems (I was around 18 at the time) when Obummer gave all the breaks to the auto industry and financial sector but they did shit all for the people who lost their homes.
The main issue I have with capitalism is that it has led to widespread destruction of the environments because it allows corporations to act without remorse when it comes to extracting resources... Why develop forms of producing renewable energy when there's more money to be had in oil/gas/coal?
