"I don't mind the rich getting larger tax breaks than me. After all, they will reinvest it and raise my pay with said tax break" coming soon to a Politics thread near you
You mean like the 1960s when income inequality wasn't historically awful like it is today

Hey let's allow corporations to donate unlimited funds to politicians and see how it works out. Oh and we are all going to raise taxes to give out free money.

It's weird how the venn diagram of people that want to raise taxes on the rich and are opposed to unlimited corporate political donations is a circle.

By Random Ass Username Go To PostThe logic.Never said lower taxes anywhere.
Lower taxes so even less money goes to where it needs to be.
Lower taxes so you have even shittier infrastructure and schools and public services brehs. Sounds like a plan.
By Lunatic Go To PostYou alright?Sigh.
Never said lower taxes anywhere.
By Lunatic Go To PostY'all Americans are tripping. Don't think we'll ever see eye to eye on this. How do you hate corruption/want accountability then default to trusting corporate entities to do what's in the best interest of general population
By Lunatic Go To PostAmerica in the 1960s was a utopia for all. Heard it first from reilo.lol that's just pathetic dude. don't do this. address your own points or don't bother
I had no idea there was a vocal group of people who literally think taxation is theft until I got twitter. I mean I knew people like that existed, but man ... twitter really brings them out. Right up there with sovereign citizens, honestly.
Who needs infrastructure, public transportation, schools, police, fire departments, etc etc. Not I, I'm a fucking island.
"Is the government taking something from you and giving it to someone else? That's theft!" seems to be the applicable form of logic for all things socialized to these people. They love the constitution but disagree that it allows the government to levy taxes on it's people. I suppose in some way it's at least consistent. Even had a dude argue with me that fire fighters should become privatized. Like the price of putting out someone's burning house won't be held for ransom or some shit.
Sometimes when I see Bad Government overspend on roads, schools and other vital infrastructure I pray to John Galt that one day the benevolent corporations may deal with such matters..
Wow, holy shit. Avenatti turned out to be a real piece of shit. Goddamn, this Stormy Daniels really knows how to pick them.
By Fenderputty Go To PostLike the price of putting out someone's burning house won't be held for ransom or some shit. That's exactly how those work. You'd also have competing groups having a debate over whose responsibility something was and then the fire would burn the shit down during the disagreement. Hell you know how competition sabotages each other? It's not like it wouldn't happen here too.

Seriously though ... what the fuck do I care if the government spend more than they should on infrastructure. At least that money goes to construction workers and their families. It's the crappy jets and shit that get built that are wasteful such as the F35 and only line the pockets of the manufacturer. Fuck i'm even fine pumping money into military spending as long as it goes to the soldiers. The pentagon spends their budget because it's a use it or lose it thing from what I understand, which is how you get $100 hamnmers and shit.

"Clocks tickin', pal. Also, your price just went up another 10K. Pretty soon you'll have no home left"
If it's anything like privatisation in the UK it would be one firm that buys up the national fire departments and then that private market of one will unilaterally decide the unregulated price you pay not have your assets and family burn to a crisp.

Does London to Bristol seriously cost ยฃ96? I got Barnstaple to Maidenhead via Reading for about ยฃ30 a couple of years ago, only comparable train journey I've ever taken
By Lunatic Go To PostI guess we are pretending I said taxation is theft. Carry on lads! We're not. Said you're close to it and when you dodge any counter point to your faux libertarian statements then it's pretty much fair to just laugh at the road you've already laid out.
Stop trying to be a victim ๐
Bruh y'all are straight up twisting what I say constantly. Those don't warrant responses. Now i'm somehow a libertarian.
Again have at it

Reading comments about Assange and people talking about the consequences of this arrest, and the ethical implications of the extradition and all I can think of is that I want something terrible to happen to him along the way where he's supposed to go.
Lunatic, the doicare of Politics.
Assange might be a pos, but the implications of his arrest sends a clear message to anyone who wants to expose the horrid shit militaries do.

Even forgetting about Assange, there's still the case with Chelsea Manning. But even when horrible shit is exposed most Americans gloss over it, hell we're even covering for SA and Israel.
By FermentedFungi Go To PostWhat is it that you reported? Two instances of misuse of gov funds, two sexual assault/harassment instances and one case of negligence regarding the investigation itself, human rights red flags while I was participating in HA/DR support, security violations for days at all levels, and good old fashioned "this person is a danger to themselves and others" etc. Anyone who remembers me from the irc days knows I was always in the shits.

It's mind boggling to me that people assume that there's no entire departments or careers dedicated/built on calling shit out. And even when you can go nowhere else (which is staggering by itself imo), there's still all sorts of directions you can go before blatant, lazy af treason.
I mean it's enthralling to believe but the massive majority of stuff isn't a conspiracy, gets handled in house, and ends with the problem solved or line stepper in jail.
Edit: Dude I GOT my job for putting my neck on the line๐ fuck outta here

Of course there's departments that handle internal affairs but as we can see in cases with law enforcement and the military, the outcomes do not always side with actual justice. I know this is old news but I just heard about this dude https://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/22/us/supreme-court-sides-with-fired-air-marshal-in-whistle-blower-case.html, and this isn't even that crazy of a thing.
