Before even tackling parties I'd start with the fact that we've rendered a bunch of people entirely unable to exercise their voting rights or just generally had incredibly discriminatory views off the bat in regards should who should have and retain them.
Honestly we Dems probably need the two-party system more than the Republicans do, since they gonna be a true majority in any multi-party system.
We should keep this two-party system tbh. Just need to stick to shaming ppl for taking corporate money.
Did AOC take any corporate money? I'ma guess no. Damn, she awesome.

Been reading this. Pretty lengthy, but a good read. The amount of power at a presidents disposal by declaring a state of emergency is wild.

One power poses a singular threat to democracy in the digital era. In 1942, Congress amended Section 706 of the Communications Act of 1934 to allow the president to shut down or take control of “any facility or station for wire communication” upon his proclamation “that there exists a state or threat of war involving the United States,” resurrecting a similar power Congress had briefly provided Woodrow Wilson during World War I. At the time, “wire communication” meant telephone calls or telegrams. Given the relatively modest role that electronic communications played in most Americans’ lives, the government’s assertion of this power during World War II (no president has used it since) likely created inconvenience but not havoc.
We live in a different universe today. Although interpreting a 1942 law to cover the internet might seem far-fetched, some government officials recently endorsed this reading during debates about cybersecurity legislation. Under this interpretation, Section 706 could effectively function as a “kill switch” in the U.S.—one that would be available to the president the moment he proclaimed a mere threat of war. It could also give the president power to assume control over U.S. internet traffic.
The potential impact of such a move can hardly be overstated. In August, in an early-morning tweet, Trump lamented that search engines were “RIGGED” to serve up negative articles about him. Later that day the administration said it was looking into regulating the big internet companies. “I think that Google and Twitter and Facebook, they’re really treading on very, very troubled territory. And they have to be careful,” Trump warned
By Smoke Dogg Go To PostAight then so then we basically forced to keep this two-party system then cuz otherwise we would end up with fucking Ted Cruz as president one day.I'm no expert but I think the problem is just how the whole US government system is set up... If we had a parliamentary system (from what I understand) we'd have more of a chance to have more people who identify as socialists, environmentalists, or even libertarians.
We aren't smart enough or unified enough for parliament.
The US has been pretty divisive since it's creation too.

By DY_nasty Go To PostWe aren't smart enough or unified enough for parliament.Maybe one of the British lads can chime in, but isn't the point is that you can have more solidarity with a smaller group. That one of the main problems with the Democratic Party, the left is constantly being stamped out by the corporate/center Dems all the while the crazies in the Reps get consolidated. There's been socialist, even communists, movements in the US before.

I mean I'd love to see it but the lines in the sand are basically trenches. People will put up with shit that they don't even acknowledge or understand just to take firm stand against a few platforms of the other side of the hall.
We got a black president before antilobbying laws, electoral changes, term limits, or a legitimate third party. It's wild out here.

Elizabeth Warren needs to just peace out already. She's indefensible. Wtf is her "team" doing by not telling her to just fucking quit already? This is an embarrassment.
Republicans are now using her as an excuse to marginalize every Native American everywhere, not just Pocahontas anymore. Now they're calling her Sacajawea. This is an outrage.
She's making the job harder to attack Republicans on this shit when you can't even defend Warren anymore.

NBA star Enes Kanter should be looking forward to coming to play basketball in London next week.
Instead, he says he'll be staying in the USA - for fear of assassination in the UK.
The 26-year-old New York Knicks centre explained to Newsbeat why he's cancelled his appearance at the O2 arena on 17 January.
"The Turkish government is obsessed with me," he said over the phone from his New York base.
"I speak out against [President] Erdogan, and so I don't feel safe.
"It's sad as I love Harry Potter, and wanted to come see all of London so badly, but I can't take the risk."
Facismo pls

MPs will vote on Theresa May's Brexit deal on Tuesday, 15 January, government sources have confirmed.
This is another one of those “holy shit if Obama even quietly murmured under his breath” type things. The freedom caucus would been screaming impeachment at empower Obama.

Well, actually, for something at least in the realm of similarity
The networks told Obama to take a hike. If they're at all consistent, they'll do the same to Trump.
