Not my point. (Also, "is it though?)
Those broad lazy sweeps some shit. As bad as the impeachment drama is, its just that. Drama. The US isn't having entire cities gridlocked as public trans implodes or having power yanked from select neighborhoods.
It is having shit like Flint tho

By JesalR Go To PostOld dude who died because of PG& E might want a word with youCould use Sydney's problems to compare against Cali's because they're under the same umbrella. Nope fuck that. California's handling of a series of forest fires is just like Macron fucking over the people who got him over the hump yet again. Or something.
Point remains the same in case you guys forgot or are looking for some other tangent. The impeachment drama is just drama. The US isn't ass up in the air like France is over their national level issues. (They were during the shutdown butthatwasdifferent.gif) I'm sure there's plenty more highly trending events from the past year but many of us wish Americans had that kind of stress right now.

Seem you’re rather confident progressives aren’t seeing the big picture again to me. You were just talking about judges not long ago too. We’re either unified or we’re not. Is this a referendum on trump or an opportunity to vote for policy tbat will never pass the senate? And to be clear, if Bernie wins the nom and centrist balk, I’ll be blaming them
Also lol at impeaching Trump over a shutdown that actually has precedence. I thought you were joking the first time you brought it up, but apparently you’re serious.

And to be clear, if Bernie wins the nom and centrist balk, I’ll be blaming themThe bolded is a really fucked up one way street and the problem with the party. "You're either with us or fuck off". Bet. The only ones seeing the big picture are the people who are placing opportunism above party loyalty. Riding with Clinton and Biden is what caused this election mess. Everything breaking away from the party line in the past 4 years now is basically an attempt to have some sort of clean slate or told you so down the road. Whether its people lining up behind Bernie's van of empty promises, feel good moments, and zero chances to win in 2020 or the nuModerates once Biden and Clinton are finally gone for good.
I'd care more about judges if laws were actually caught up with the times, but they're not. There's going to be a significant upheaval with a lot of prosecutorial dealings either way and when it comes to weapons, private medical access, etc I've never given credit to the dems to be above fucking themselves in the first place.

It might be fucked up, but that's how the right votes. Remember all those never Trumpers that were supposed to help Hillary. They see a culture war, they don't care if they're even getting what they want, they only care about stopping the libs. If it weren't Trump and it was like Romney, I would be a little less concerned about unity.
I have no idea what you're even talking about with regards to judges. It's easily his most impactful part of his presidency and it will affect abortion rights, business interests, voting etc etc. "laws are outdated so it's cool if we regress" is one hell of a take.
By DY_nasty Go To PostPrecedence? There was zero precedence in allowing a government shutdown to become a form of negotiation lol.
This is demonstrably false. Virtually all shut downs have been arguments regarding appropriations and disagreements between the POTUS and congress. Regan, Clinton, Bush and Obama all had shutdowns with Obama's shutdown over the ACA funding the longest until Trump.
I'm not arguing against shutdowns occurring, I'm arguing them being normalized and over increasingly petty/personal reasons. There were three in one year along with the longest in US history.
Considering all the effort into investigating big nothings like campaign managers, stormy daniels, and most recently the exact distance between a colonel and a phone - those resources would've obviously been put to better use than where we are now. Which is basically the most pathetic "see? we tried" in recent US history 😂

They've been normalized prior to Trump. He's had two. One super short and one really long. You think this is a pathetic "we tried" and you think impeaching over a shutdown wouldn't have been? What does that even look like in the house? You gonna argue abuse of power here? Certainty isn't a high crime or misdemeanor. "sir can you confirm you shutdown the government cause you're a crybaby and not for other reasons past presidents shut the government down?" breh

But this was by far the most egregious.
And Yes it's a pathetic we tried. You don't remember Pelosi dodging this every chance she got prior? The impeachment stuff was supposed to stop the growing fractures and hopefully cast a poor light on the election - it's done neither well. Now that feet have been dragged past every other issue to date, the most dry and victimless hill to plant a flag on has led to both bases' eyes glazing over because of a needlessly drawn out set up. It's like they took away nothing from the kavanaugh show.
And foreign / domestic abuse of power have never sat side by side in this country as equal offenses. Even if it was a lighter abuse, it was certainly more of an opportunity than the waste of time spent on the campaign spending and more directly relevant than all of the Mueller probe or Ukraine. Considering all the energy put towards framing other spotlight issues too? Big meh.

There's ample evidence Trump has extorted a foreign country for his own political benefit while pushing a Russian conspiracy. That's all sys glazy shit though. Arguing time spans of shutdown in the house wouldn't have been though. Gotcha.

The nature of this is straight up illegal because a known politician's son is on the receiving end - but outside of that, no one would give a shit.
You ran with hearsay stories that went nowhere for over a year but it's a stretch to say you wouldn't take hearsay stories about the president obstructed the political process at the expense of working Americans? A big part of the blue wave we were supposed to ride off into the sunset with was a direct response to that stuff.
The idea of impeaching Trump on externals is mindboggling. But it doesn't surprise me that common domestic issues are an afterthought for the party now that I think about it.

That article won't do shit. "Muh killin' babies" and round and round we go
Evangelical Christianity is most appealing to people who don't want to believe gray issues exist. Changing teams after you're locked in requires one to capitulate to nuance and self-analysis, if not a complete psychological remapping, which usually only occurs in humans after traumatic emotional events. The alternative being gradual social reinforcement; if this article sets the dominos falling among mainstream religious media outlets, it might do something. Otherwise?
