By HoboVapes Go To PostJohnson's racism gets covered, but the reality is that many people in the UK don't care and just as many are actually okay with what he has said about Muslims, black people, LGBT+ people, etc. He's the same open racist now as he was when he was elected as the London Mayor, twice. How did this happen? London is supposedly “the good” part of England.

Man at least this is somewhat of a perfect storm for Scottish Independence and maybe a reunified Ireland.
I’m always confused by the people who say they like their health insurance. What do they do which makes you like them? They can refuse to cover any expense at the drop of the hat for no good reason, then when you appeal they can just have their own doctor blindly agree with their decision. I feel like people who say they like their insurance haven’t actually used it very much.
They like the fact that other people dont have it, how else would they know it's valuable?!
Partly due to brainwashing and the distust of any sort of tax increase. Personal insurance has many damn loopholes and obstacles. Paying a tax that covers you for everything seems so much better. I currently work in the medical field and it's incredible how many people's medications are denied by worker's comp but can refill it under medicare/medical with no problem.

He's literally gaining in the polls because he's taking a moderate "fix O-care and add a public option" stance. For some reason, it seems like the left assumes M4A is more popular than it actually is. Warren started spiraling the second she came out with her plan and it made no sense with regards to payment.

Health care is a hugely important issue for 2020, but M4A doesn't poll well at all and progress on that front is going to be more incremental than people want. Biden is riding the same idea of shoring up the ACA and adding the public option and he's probably going to win the nomination.
This isn't to say I like Pete. He's a plant.
So Trump for another 4 years it is.
How do you even fix O-Care? Shit is still convoluted. Lol at thinking Pete will do anything that might affect Insurance companies, homeboy is being funded by corporations.

NK changing its posture to what it its doing now, even agitated, is a huge change of direction compared to where we were. "But they're still dicks" is gonna remain constant because that's literally NK's best way to bargain. They're no longer throwing rockets over Japan (and NO ONE wants Japan to find a reason to ditch the SDF and go ham on the Pacific again...) and China doesn't have to directly measure what sort of response they'd deal out should things get out of hand. If shit goes south later, whatever, reassess based on appropriate context. That's diplomacy and its best to evaluate all situations as ongoing with numerous factors instead of yes/no questions.
Its like people wanted that war or something. I mean, rip that bandaid is cool I'm with it but people change up on their stances all the time.
By FootFungus Go To PostFirst time I heard of this, Red Flag laws?Florida's red flag laws basically mean a harder approach on people who do dumb shit with firearms and allows LE to be more proactive in handling situations before they get to the point of no return

By DY_nasty Go To Postuhhh yeahHow much of that is down to Moon's entire administration being centred on improving relations with NK and easing tensions on the peninsula? NK's temporary change of attitude is due to Moon, not Trump. Trump's negotiations with Kim have been an utter failure. It was evident in Hanoi it's even more evident today.

By FootFungus Go To PostSo Trump for another 4 years it is.Roll back the changes that Trump made: pay the cost sharing subsidies, increased advertising, disallow the junk short term coverage, disallow state waivers. Put in a public option. Enforce Medicaid expansion. Fix the family glitch. Basically, they can still get more people in the pool and lower premiums.
How do you even fix O-Care? Shit is still convoluted. Lol at thinking Pete will do anything that might affect Insurance companies, homeboy is being funded by corporations.
The real work to be done is on lowering drug prices so that people even with insurance can actually afford things like insulin or an epipen.

Pete is a vapid empty vessel. I am no Pete fan.
Just to be clear tho: even in the most optimistic outcomes, the senate will never pass 95% of what the liberal wing is selling.
Which IMO is problematic. If Dems win and pass a publicly option, we should consider that a win, but the left will view it as a sell out and get pissed.
By Lunatic Go To PostDidn't Scotland just have a referendum on it the other day? Seems an immensely shit way to govern.5 years ago. The no campaign pivoted on uncertainty of remaining in the Eu if the referendum passed. Scotland got fucked in the end with brexit anyway.
I'm always pro fuck England when it comes to meddling with other nations. They left my island a hotbed of inter- communal hatred and division.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostHow much of that is down to Moon's entire administration being centred on improving relations with NK and easing tensions on the peninsula? NK's temporary change of attitude is due to Moon, not Trump. Trump's negotiations with Kim have been an utter failure. It was evident in Hanoi it's even more evident today.Moon had just got in the door at the time. But more than that, SK didn't really have a say in the matter either way lol. What are they gonna do against more than effective artillery that's been locked on their cities for decades and shelters that have been abandoned entirely out of complacency and the belief that the US will do the heavy lifting? The missiles are a separate point than SK's concerns too because they've been living at gunpoint and gotten used to it. Japan, Australia, the rest of the Pacific is not going to tolerate things like Seoul and has never counted on Seoul to protect them from NK either.
I mean, there's nothing SK can provide NK that's more important than a way out of this standoff that they have with the West and one way relationships with China/Russia.
Help me understand what you want out of the situation because there's very few realistic options regarding NK stepping off the ledge with any semblance of their control (and zero chance of a Korean Unification thanks to China) intact. People get really wishy washy on the topic. We were close to an open conventional war that would've led to the biggest clusterfucks in ages and we got Kim to the table. Is that bad?

Not much has changed either, apart from instead of laughing it off, many people now just openly agree with the things he has said. Not just in London, but across the country.
Ah well, might take another ten years but the pendulum of UK politics will surely swing back the other way. Whatever damage is done in the meantime can be reverted, only to be damaged again when it swings forth afterwards.

Boris was pretty generic when he ran for London mayor. He hadn't been a part of any government at that point and the limited remit of the mayor meant he didn't need to have any policies more controversial than what buses to use.
