By Not Go To PostGiving the extreme benefit of the doubt hereYet the denial rate for Russians is 2.5x what it is for the UK, and basically the same as it is for Iranians?
If you're white, it largely doesn't matter what country you're from. You're given access. If you're not, it does matter, and you won't.
By DY_nasty Go To PostWhy would you want less oversight and scrutiny on people with ties to a country that's openly 1) fucking us 2) more than happy to coerce and intimidate people and their families to push their own interests?
I'd be with you guys if it was a college admissions office you're talking about, but its not. Its national security with a focus on a near cold war enemy that openly reeducates its most visible citizens like actors and heads of business or military.
Russian 'citizenship' or ties have been fractured as hell since the Soviet Union collapsed. Its an entirely different structure of concerns.
Pretty sure those changes in “Russian interests” were present in the decade preceding this one so that doesn’t really explain why Russia or Iran declined. Are they just more trustworthy now versus what they were in 2005? Color me dubious. And funnily enough, the only other nationality in that dataset that saw more than a point of two in denial increase was... Taiwan.
And even if granting all of that, if you don’t think this same attitude bleeds over into the civil sphere in short order, I got some ocean front properties to sell hit my line

I'm not trying to talk racism away here, my first response was that racism against the Chinese started as soon as they got here. I'm saying that treating the current climate and growing threat of China as an espionage element absolutely cannot be handwaved away. And that national security stuff shouldn't be held to the same open admissions policies as your typical college.

And Russian interests is not my point. Its the fact that you can't name that many countries that are willing to monitor and coerce their own citizens and anyone adjacent to them as rampantly as China. They have literally revolutionized that shit.
edit: also, if russia had more people to exploit - they would lol
Think the whole US being racist thing happens to them in a cycle.
Watched the documentary about the Prohibition on Netflix recently and surprise surprise, it started by blaming the immigrants.

Pretty sure every country blames immigrants. It's an easy target because they don't have voting power.

Look, when it comes to natsec, it's not the same as correcting for the racial wealth gap. Fully understand that. But the question that should be asked - and given what we know about the federal bureaucracy, they do not get the benefit of the doubt - Are we sure these policies are applied in a way that meaningfully influences the desired outcome and not just the laziest, most discriminatory way possible? Why do we have to shrug our shoulders and go, "eh, what are we supposed do?" I don't know, maybe come up with a excuse that's not as blatant as, "even if you're born here, you're still Chinese"?
And on that, and I'll give our non-US posters the pass since they're not familiar with the dynamics at play, but I'm seeing the responses here actually tugging at the core problem: you're still referring to us as Chinese and not Chinese Americans. There's a fundamental difference between someone who holds a blue passport versus a maroon passport, and it is still completely wild to me, tho not surpring, that this country expects my children's children to bear the same baggage as I do.
EDIT: Should clarify. No illusions about the general racism they’d receive. That comes with the territory. It’s really about who gets to be American and who doesn’t.
I'm agreeing with you. Until you get to the point about clearance stuff. It has to be a factor. Citizenship and clearance are not the same thing.
You guys not realizing that even bad credit gets you fucked up these days lol

Absolutely cannot wait to wake up on Friday morning to find out that my country is about be turned into a privatised and Americanised right-wing hell-hole without the benefits of all their great fast food joints.
You can't stay in there forever m8, and when you come out I'll be sure to speak in a very stern tone.
Shouldn't need to rename it, it shouldn't be a publication in first place. The whole fiasco with the Hillsborough disaster should've sunk it just like the phone hacking scandal sunk the News of the World. Even if the latter was basically just rebranded.
Rudy colludy’s (AKA maybe trumps personal attorney) indicted buddy, whom Devin Nunes spoke to multiple times but forgot, lied about his finances and was paid a million bucks from Russia in September
Still don't understand why you have voting on a weekday but howay lads get to the polling station and vote me out today, or not. Your choice (or is it?)
Walking through the pissing rain to vote in a constituency where Theresa May has battered everyone for 22 years, what a time
70% for her this year I reckon

Might be a bit less if you stop voting for her.
Good luck for all the British lads, ya gonna need it.
Reading opinions of first time voters has been heart breaking. These kids have had their brains filled with lies. Y'all fucked.

Fuckers bringing their dogs for the photos. Never ceases to amaze how British politicians treat their constituents as absolute morons who believe anything they see.

Interesting piece. Seems like dailywire has settled in as a social conservative stronghold.
Curious if Barr goes after porn. I didn’t know member of the GOP sent him a letter asking him to. It’s kind of a shitty situation in that, I think porn should have better regulations with things like age verification for both the models and consumers, but you’re not going to find reasonable compromise from people who view it’s removal as a moral imperative.
Anyway ... it’s clear social conservative have hypocritically latched onto Trump in hopes they can affect social policy at a legal level. You can see this real time with abortion. States are scrambling to make ridiculous laws that will end up at the SCOTUS where trump has set two social conservatives. See the recent Kentucky abortion case.
By Marston Go To PostJust stepped in a massive fuck off puddle on my way to vote. Good sign. The olds already got their votes in by post weeks ago, while it was still dry. Smart ones, they are.
Well, by all metrics except who they by and large choose to vote for.
