It has. He would have been suspended multiple times by now with the attitude he had.

Nostalgia is a hell of a thing.
By Moris Go To PostLA has spent a lot of money to try and compete this year, the tanking stuff is non-sense, don't think a squad has been hit harder when it comes to injuries. LA shoulda been right there with Denver, winning for no reason.
It's a relief LA was as bad as they were, but they still competed almost every game and watching Clarkson/Black develop has been great.
Competitive is relative. They'd be "competing" for a 12th spot even if Kobe made it all the way through without gettting injured. That much was obvious 15 games into the season.
I agree with you, the Team went on all in trying to get Melo and didn't plan to tank, but just like NY, they adjusted quickly. Benched Lin, Young, Boozer. Played dudes like Ryan Kelly and Robert Sacre and other D Leaguers over established NBA talent. Once training camp started, this season was always going to be a throway. Might as well get my rest/getting other shit done in before they get good again and I'm stuck for another 15 years watching 99% of games.

Lin got benched cause Clarkson is better than him, coach doesn't like his PnR style and then he got hurt. Young was getting benched because coach thinks he's a clown and then he kept getting hurt. Boozer got benched for guys better than him (Black/Davis).
On paper it might look like intentionally being bad, but if you watched the games LA much more times than not put their best players on the floor over people with name recognition.
But whatever, if you're deadset on not watching to see the young guys develop, that's your perogative, but being bad wasn't intentional.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Post if LA whiffs on that Love/Westbrook thing, shit could be bad for a long time
Shit could be bad WITH them or if we sign Love and YN doesn't follow. If that plan doesn't come to fruition I'm not losing sleep over it.

Funny thing is playing Boozer more would have been more tanking. He's been the worst player on/off wise. But yeah, they had to get the young guys looks though Scott took waaaaaay too fucking long to move Kelly to the 4.
I don't think the team tried to tank until maybe the end. Which I'm glad because I don't endorse intentional tanking that way all year. But between an early injury to Randle, Young, Kelly, the team never really got a full chance to even see what they were before Kobe went down (Don't get me wrong, they weren't sniffing the playoffs no matter what).

Lin got benched for Ronnie Price. And then for Clarkson, back before Clarkson was any good. I'm all for developing the young guys like Clarkson and Sacre and Kelly that we are going to have for the forseeable future rather than let 1 season Lin dominate playing time.
Just don't tell me that benching your most established NBA Players for unknowns means you're doing everything in your power to try to win. Scott knows that his job's not on the line based on this season's record. Once Kobe went down, Clarkson and Sacre started starting soon after. I don't think that was a coincidence.
Either way, you and I are basically trying to read tea leaves. It makes sense for the organization to tank, it also makes sense that the players and coach want to win. I'll watch plenty of Clarkson in the future, he's going to be an LA Laker for quite a while it seems.
By Moris Go To PostShit could be bad WITH them or if we sign Love and YN doesn't follow. If that plan doesn't come to fruition I'm not losing sleep over it.
They neeeeed to keep this year's pick bad. If they hit decently on a top 4 pick, Randle comes pack and is also a decent hit, Clarkson continues to develop, then all it takes is a couple decent signings to move the needle back into watchable with playoff hope fairly soon, which is all I ask for. I love the team to death but I just can't sit there and watch the product that's out there all the time. It doesn't have to be a contender it just has to be enjoyable.
As frustrating as the Smush days were, they were still something that you could root for. These last two seasons have just been soul-draining. Perhaps it was good for me. I think I've finally learned how to not watch an entire season again, which is healthier for me going forward. Then again, with new technology I'll probably just watch all the games but schedule the games around me rather than the other way around in the future.

Honestly, I think Scott played Price because he gave a better chance to win as a starter than Lin. It sounds crazy, because it is, but I think Scott is a really stupid coach.
Scott was calling isolation plays for Jordan Hill in crunch time, at times. Tanking or stupidity? That line is blurred but I'm leaning latter.

Uh, The Smush years were amazing. Kobe was having the best individual season in 20 years and every single game we played was winnable. It's like watching what Westbrook has been doing the past 2 months. Yea, it's not as good as being a contender, but it's still amazing to watch television.
Plus, that season there were tons and tons of close games. Even ones we lost. Once we got Pau, we were just blowing dudes out left and right from the first quarter on.
Scott has been very vocal about not liking Lin's PG style, valued Price's defensive effort with the starting unit next to Kobe more than Lin's offensive minded style.
Clarkson was impressing during practice before he got his shot, so it wasn't like they just threw anyone out there and hoped for the best. They knew he could play, needed to see it in an actual game and it was there.
Scott also said he doesn't like 3 pointers and would rather take tons of long 2s, so what Scott thinks is best may as well be tanking.
Hey guys,
Remember the bench mob?
Odom/Vujacic/Farmar/Brown/Powell/Turiaf? Not a single one of those guys are in the league anymore. Triangle man, truly makes role players (sans Odom) look better than they are.
Oh shit, and Luke fucking Walton.

This was my point. That the Lakers had no chance for titles but were playing to make the playoffs and it was fun, even if it was frustrating to see them not be a contender (we're spoiled, after all). Compared to this year, ugh.
Diehard, I agree the organization hired Scott knowing he's an idiot. I was just saying Scott wasn't tanking, he's just stupid.

84 in 66 games (top 20). That rate would put him just outside the top 10 for a full season. And let's be real, if he wasn't coming back from injury to start the season, it would be even higher.
So yes, he still dunks.
By giririsss Go To PostYou may want to take thoseglasses off. Outside odom, that bench was feared by no one. They were always terrible.
None of our bench guys made more than 5 million a year. Plenty of them made less than 1.5 million a year. We got discounted guys that literally couldn't make it anywhere else in the league, or guys buried at the ends of benches like Ariza and Brown and Powell and turned them into regular contributors. They only had contracts because of their production on LA.
That's not Pop level or anything, because we were so starter heavy. But it's irrefutable that a bunch of guys that had no careers before or after their time here, were solid contributors.

The problem is NY has literally nothing else to trade. Aside from Carmelo the only NBA rotation quality player under contract next year is Jose Calderon. And because of the Carmelo & Bargnani trades, they can't offer another 1st rounder until 2018. So the Kings would have to really want that 1st rounder this year, because they'd be getting little else in return.

Here’s how it works. Take each team’s number of losses. Subtract 41 (41-41 represents a breakeven record in the NBA). Then square the result. That’s how many pingpong balls a team gets. (OK, one more provision: A team gets a minimum of 10 lottery balls, including if it has a winning record.2)

Well yea that's the hope basically. They'd have to really value Towns/Okafor that much. A trade of the 1st pick overall for Cousins while they still have a high pick might seem nice for them if they want to start over for the millionth time. The stars would have to align obviously.
If the Kings trade Boogie them myself, and many others, would straight quit. Had enough bullshit with this team.
On the plus side, I don't think any team has enough to offer for Cousins. I think this may be teams contacting Sacramento rather than Sacramento being open. Not sure though. I imagine teams smell blood in the water.
By Omega Go To PostI haven't watched a Knicks game in months, and probably only 2-3 games in the past 2 seasons. I'm just saying, don't be like RBK acting like your team is the shit because OKC FO is dumb and Dwight was too mentally weak for LA when you couldn't even put up with a few "bad" seasons.
If somehow the Sixers or Wolves become the best team in the NBA in a few seasons, I doubt we'll see rodeo or knux acting like RBK.
I have no clue what this post means.
Harden was going to leave regardless of whatever "money" the Thunder offered him. Dwight would have been completely stupid to stay in LA, any honest Laker fan would tell you the same. I said I watched those seasons nor weere either teams bad, we had two very intentional 9th seeds. I'm just not going to be too into the NBA season just because there's really no point if my team isn't.
The team has to prove it. I like our chances. KISS MY ASS.
By IWMTB19 Go To Post What teams that want Boogie could put together reasonable packages for Boogie that had more trade value than Karl Towns? There's like... Just the Magic and Celtics I think? And the Celtics offer would need to include a ton of draft picks that wouldn't materialize for years which isn't what the Kings seem interested in.
Towns isn't enough. Shit, the Wolves got Wiggins and assets for an expiring super star. The kings should and would want something proven to go with future assets.
