By Moris Go To Post OKC doesn't need a PF that scores 18 pts on 13 fga and plays no D. Its kinda the opposite of what they need.
He's more of a C, and we've already seen that Brooks intends to attach him to the hip to Ibaka and play him in the low post while Ibaka works in the pick and pop game.
It remains to be seen whether he can improve on defense, but he's been learning on the fly without our full team healthy thus far.
All we really need him to be is a reasonable facsimile of Perk on D (which means learning positioning and not getting pushed around) while maintaining his offensive efficiency. The athleticism is there, and the effort has been there... he just doesn't know what to do. If he can't improve significantly with an offseason of film study and working with coaches I'll be officially worried.
He had 3 1/2 seasons of coaching, studying film and 2 of them as a starter. Dude has no defensive instincts, if he did he wouldn't have been flipped.
He was getting 14/8 on sub .500 shooting playing the role in Utah that OKC will be using him as next season. He's got that new scenary/contract bump, plus more touches than he'll probably ever get i his career again. Brooks might be stupid enough to play him heavy minutes tho I guess, since there's no rhyme or reason to his rotations.
And lets not forget he was attached to Favors' hip in Utah, not sure if Ibaka is a step up from that....I mean look at the defensive numbers Utah are putting up right now without him.

Not surprised. Divac is a good guy and people like him. I don't know if he has the skills for managing salaries, trades and drafts though.

I think we'll re-sign him and we've only used him in the post thus far. It helps that we already have an great shooting PF in Ibaka who will also help cover for him on D.
Adams will likely come off the bench and play major minutes. I can't speak for his state of mind or opinion about not starting, but he had been coming off the bench when Ibaka was healthy.
Like I've said before, I simply refuse to believe that the loss of Kendrick Perkins was so grievous that we can't be good on defense again. I could be wrong, but I think Kanter's potential far outweighs his liabilities going into the future.
No Dongo, Kanter is not a potential All-Star.

It's actually amazing.
Copeland was stabbed in the abdomen, and his wife, Katrine Saltara, was stabbed in the arm and slashed across the breast and backside, according to police.
Hope they catch this asshole.
By reilo Go To Post The stats have shown that OKC's defense is really terrible even with Ibaka playing next to Kanter. Ibaka can't cover up that much shit.
We're scoring more (100.7->109.2) and giving up more (98.8->107.5) since the all-star break mainly because of increased pace. Our blocks are down (the loss of Ibaka and Durant easily explains this). We're outscoring our opponents by about the same margins (1.7 PPG post-ASG, 1.9 PPG pre-ASG).
It's hard to conclude too much or predict the future because of how much instability and lineup change we've had this season. I think that our defense will be much better next season with a healthy Ibaka and Durant, even with Kanter at center. Feel free to call me out if I'm wrong and I'll eat crow.
People using defensive numbers when Durant and Ibaka and Roberson have been missing for large stretches are wasting their time.
Yea Kanter sucks on D, clearly, but it's too soon to jump to conclusions about how this team will fare on D when healthy. Also, the Utah thing isn't a great look. Kanter got replaced by Gobert, who's been god fucking elite since the all star break on D.
It's like blaming Birdman in Miami instead of acknowledging that his replacement's just been far above average.
Perkins is no Gobert and he's no Whiteside.
By Forever Go To Post Vag and Dongo vs the World.
I just think there's a bunch of other more legitimate reasons to trash Presti than trading Perkins for Kanter. That's either a wash or an improvement. Time will tell.

By Dark PhaZe Go To Post Kings have had some considerable front office turnover--gotta hope it results in better drafting and decision making in general.
Hard to be worse than they've been for the last 15 years.

It's only really been bad for like 10 years. Basically since Webber got hurt and everything kind of disintegrated. They had no idea how to rebuild post Webber. I don't know, trade Peja for Artest, whatever.

I don't have a lot of faith when they fire Malone without cause, bungle the whole Corbin situation (even if he deserved to be fired, he didn't deserve to be done like that), then bringing on a "name" coach whose style of play doesn't fit the roster.
Vivek strikes me as passionate but clueless, which can be a lot worse than an owner who is hands-off but hires good people.
Another huge hit for Houston: I'm told Donatas Motiejunas is out for the season with his back injury. Story to come at @USATODAYsports

Basically we're going to be forced to play Dorsey and lose even more bench scoring.
A few years from now I'll be really interested to look at the injury data from like 2012 on. When it became gospel to sit guys and play them less minutes, and dramatically reduce practice time.
I have a feeling that it's been by and large a false gospel.

By diehard Go To Postlets be honest, it always was.
Meh, I think if the Rockets had gotten everyone back to 100% except for 90% Dwight, they could have had a chance with that frontcourt and that defense and Harden. But now they're going to be rolling with Dwight postups when Harden is tired or on the bench and a bunch of offense starved lineups and that's going to be bad.
Holy shit, the Rockets have no PF's or C's that shoot even a moderately respectable percentage from the FT line. How any team would let the Rockets beat them in the first round with that level of a handicap is beyond me.
-Stay home on the 3 point shooters.
-Sag off Harden, and as soon as he makes 2 3's - resort to hack a whoever for 3 straight posessions. Completely destroy the flow of their offense.
