By Sharp Go To PostYep... when Blake had that amazing rookie season I was pretty gung ho about how his career might turn out, since he started off like he might be an all-time great. But instead of steadily improving, he's regressed every year. It's like he didn't care anymore once he got a taste of success.
"He plays with DJ" is a horrible excuse, by the way. He's played with DJ every year of his career.
I wouldn't call last season a regression. It was his best season.
As far as playing with DJ, well Jordan has become one of the best rebounders in the league over the past couple seasons so I expected Griffin's rebounding% to go down but not to the extent that it has. He's not trying on the boards anymore.

Eh... I guess. I was mostly thinking of his rebounding rate, which has gone down every single year, and his defense, which basically never improved. Didn't realize how much better DJ had gotten as a rebounder recently, but it started considerably after Blake's rebounding started falling off.
I do think this year (especially lately) is the best Clips starter looks together (their bench is ultra awful though) Blake "regression" let CP3 became undoubtably their "guy", CP is always there best player but they seemingly often to force run through Blake in the past, CP3 seem more asserted than ever since Blake injury and all of starter looks great.. And even current Blake is still excelent 2nd option to have, he shooting 54% since his return.

If LaMarcus can improve his rebounding while playing next to elite rebounders his entire career, no reason Blake can't.

That's why I said he's not trying anymore.
buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut
It's true that LMA has improved his rebounding while playing with Lopez, but Lopez has never been the at the same level of rebounidng that DJ has. Robin's highest TRB% is 14.5. DJ's lowest is 16.5.
I'm asusming when you're saying he's improved, you're talking about his time spent with Lopez, correct?because in the other years his rebounding% was pretty stable.

Lol you're too smart to have missed the point. Non first seed Spurs don't make the finals. 5th or 6th seed Spurs don't come close.
getting hyped over one GS game, or a good month just isn't sensible given the history.
So Hood seems to have pretty good size, and be solid at all aspects of basketball.
Why did he go so late in the draft?
Deng might be out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury. Shouldhavestayedinchina maybe be out as well.
Might force spo to play Ennis and Johnson more.
Lol naw hell probably start birdman at the 3.

I said this when he was with the suns. And now that he isn't, another fan base will back me up. Robin may not post great rebound numbers. But he's always been good at boxing out. He doesn't really care if he gets the ball, if he can box out one, or two guys, he's doing it.
I love what Rolo brings, he seems to literally not care about anything other than winning. People always said they expected Robin to have the better career cause he cared more, was fiestier, more intense, more into every little aspect. He mght not have the touch his brother does, but he's a great foil next to a guy like LMA.
It makes 0 sense to compare this version of the Spurs to a Spurs team that existed 15, 10, 8, or even 5 seasons ago. Duncan and Pop are the only constants in that entire run. Pop has gotten better as a coach, but Duncan's role is completely different now. I'm not predicting a championship or anything, but Vag is being pretty dumb about this.
We were relying on Dejuan Blair and Matt Bonner the last 6 seasons or so to start along side Tim Duncan. Think about that. Those guys can't/don't wouldn't even get 10 minutes of playoff time now. Not to mention the massive upgrade Kawhi is over Richard Jefferson.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the playoffs this year. Should be fun!
I watched the game last night.
I thoroughly enjoyed how we ran GS off the court.
I remember in December when people were beginning to panic.
I said "is it still the regular season? Chill."
I see the playoffs are soon. NOW you are allowed to worry about the Spurs.

LoL, Bonner didn't start and Blair and Diaw are fairer comparisons to each other. Only reason Bonner is still on the roster is because loyalty is because he's a big body who can slow the game down by drawing fouls with his awful defense and stretch the floor with the occasional 3. But now that we have Mills and Belinetti on the 3 and Splitter/Baynes on the post, Bonner is no longer needed.
Diaw is an upgrade from Blair, but because his skills fit the team better, not because he's better as an individual.
Richard Jefferson is to the Spurs as Kevin Love is to Cleveland.
There is no comparison to Kawhi to my knowledge in the history of the Spurs. His defense is better than Bruce Bowen's and he's not only is Leonard NOT an offensive liability, but we have yet to see what his true ceiling is. With a team like the Spurs, we might not ever see his ceiling, because we are not built like an OKC where Westbrook is like "**** everyone else I'm gonna get mine even if we lose!"
By diehard Go To PostSo Hood seems to have pretty good size, and be solid at all aspects of basketball.
Why did he go so late in the draft?
He was the worst defender possible in college and seemed to be a mediocre athlete. That hasn't shown up as much in the NBA though.
Bonner's per minute average in the playoffs:
09: 20 mpg. He started all 5 games he played this year.
10: 17.3mpg
11: 20.5 mpg
12: 12.7 mpg
13: 13.4. He started one game
14: 6.2. He started 2 games
Also, motivated diaw is much much better player than Blair ever was.

2 years ago that would be terrifying to me, but Kawhi had made the leap. I just saw on Twitter that in the last 10 games, the Spurs are allowing only 92.2 per 100 possessions when he is on the court. Christ.

They're 2nd in DRtg now, too. West is brutal. It would be even moreso if Thunder were healthy and Pelicans had a competent FO/coach and Suns weren't a bunch of college kids just having fun and the Jazz hadn't given Kanter more chances than he deserved.

Yes, I'm stupid for suggesting your team as a 6th seed shouldn't be labeled the favorites to make the finals. How dare I be so disrespectful.
Yes, your surrounding pieces are better, but Manu and Timmy aren't. And you'll be playing against defenses much more prolific than Antoni's Suns.
At this point - suggesting they're coming out of the West is fanboyism. If they move up for the second seed and go undefeated the rest of the way, I'll revise my opinion. But having to win 3 series without HCA - which is where they're at now doesn't make them the favorites.

Pelicans have 6 games to go. GSW, @MEM, PHX, @HOU, @MIN, SAS.
We have 5 left: SAS, SAC, @IND, POR, @MIN.
If the Pels go 3-3 and we go 2-3, we're out by virtue of the tiebreaker. Tomorrow night is huge. If the Pelicans and Spurs win, the chances of us falling out go up a lot.
Spurs could move up to the 3rd seed by Wednesday. Memphis doesn't exactly have a cupcake schedule remaining and Spurs play the Rockets TWICE to end the season so they can make up a full two games on them.
Spurs winning their division and even moving up to the 2nd seed is not out of the realm of possibility at all.
By reilo Go To Post Ugh what? Tim Duncan is just as good as he was a season ago. Even better, arguably: His WS/48 is up and the highest it's been since 2010 and his DPBM is also up. This is all despite the team battling lots of injuries earlier in the season.
Who said anything about a season ago? We've been talking about the entire spurs run and him comparing rosters from several years ago to today. Don't be lazy with your arguments man.

That was a completely separate post on the state of the Spurs. It's time for you to log the fuck out and shut the fuck up.
Next time you should read the thread because that was a follow-up post to what giri and I were discussing.
By reilo Go To Post I'm being lazy with my arguments? LMAO. You're a bigger joke than Kanter's defensive efforts.
Me and Obi discussing a decade plus of the Spurs. Me saying the surrounding team has gotten better (since his specific Blair/Bonner/Jefferson mention) and u bringing up last year Timmy.
Yea, lazy.
As for your second hulk like angry outburst Calm down, get off the roids. They're not doing you any favors.
If the Spurs don't make the Finals it's not because they didn't have the 1 seed, it's because the West is too good, period. To say they outright can't make the Finals because they can only beat the D'Antoni's Suns from five seasons ago or something, I honestly don't know where your mind is going with that.
They beat the plenty of great teams on their way to the Finals the last two seasons with varying offenses and defenses, including a Grizzlies team that isn't much different than the one they lost to. Unless you want to claim that Stotts and Carlisle have gimmicky offenses, too?
Plus we all can see through your D'Antoni hate. I bet you loved him while Kobe still did.
