Nope, but some dumbass fans wanted to see if the franchise could get him to take less than the max.  The Spurs off season is going to be really interesting depending on:

1. If Tim, Manu, or both retire.  If  neither retire, what salary would they come back at?

2.  What Green's open market value is, and what he's willing to take to stay with the Spurs

3. If Kawhi is willing to be patient and let the Spurs pursue the free agent market with whatever money is freed up if Manu/Tim retire and/or take paycuts.

The dream scenario is that Manu retires (it sounds like he really wants to), Tim comes back at an even bigger wink-wink discount and the Spurs are able to land one of the free agent bigs (Gasol or LMA).  Then they would sign Kawhi to the max.  Doubtful, but the Spurs would extend their window another 3-4 years if they could.

Yeah I joked earlier but Miami got destroyed by injuries.  They have like legit 8 guys who can play..two of which were in China a month ago and one who I swear is made up. Add to that the corpses of Deng and Haslem and then the fact that Wade is being held together with tape and glue...yeah they will fall off hard to keep that pick and despite it fucking my team over...they should too.
