I think that Flip should be banned from basketball if he picks Okafor over Towns, tbh.
And how is Okafor a good fit for a team that was last in defense and has a PG that can't shoot along with two power wings (that spend a good deal of their time posting up) as their three best players? Okafor is a worse shooter than Dwight right now...
It's really like:
Reasons to pick Towns over Okafor: All of them

By Shun Go To PostSo another Russell that wears the number 0. More unlikeable players what's new.I don't understand how people can find YNB unlikable now. He's cocky but he backs it up and his will to win is Kobe-esque.
i dont even know why flip would be putting smoke out there--doesn't serve them at all...just fuckery

A very small part of me, but a part nonetheless.
The space between ceiling and floor for WCS is bigger than like any player in this draft. He could be Tyson Chandler extra lite or more defensive Aldridge.
Reports are that he his mid range game isn't as garbo as many thought.

By KingGondo Go To PostWe just needed a guy who knows the ropes to help Donovan in his first season. It's just a bonus that he happens to be a great support guy to have on your bench.Guy gets more heat then he deserves. He oversaw our team with a roster that I have to imagine has been the most injured over the last several years. Jrue has basically missed 2 seasons. Gordon missed most of his contract. Davis averages around 65 games a season and we have been short on depth and Demps never built the roster to Monty's preferred liking except his first season.
Supposedly he's good at drawing up out-of-bounds plays and creative offensive sets, which we desperately need.
@Jonm: Any comments on Monty?
Don't get me wrong, he is not a great head coach. He was brought in as a defensive minded guy but after Malone left his defenses have been poor. Offensively he is stuck with one foot in the 90s and the other tip toeing into the modern age. The guy made a comment at the end of the season that he just learned about defensive rating.
He has some virtues though. Over the years he became a good out of bounds play caller and motivated our busted up team to the playoffs. Players love him. Aldridge in Portland credited Monty for his development. Monty also deserves credit(along with Kevin Hanson) for evolving Davis the way they have.
I think he is landing in the perfect role for him. Where his strengths can be his strengths again and his weaknesses won't get exposed. You don't want Monty driving the ship but as a guy behind a good captain he can be exceptional IMO.

WCS' range is in-between Larry Sanders without depression and JaVale McGee which is pretty large, but I don't know if it's as large as some other players.
Kristaps: Ceiling=Frye with good defense, floor=Yi.
Okafor: Ceiling=Boogie Cousins, floor=Al Jefferson with terrible shooting (which is a not good player)
Muday: Ceiling=Prime Deron, floor=Back to China
Turner: Ceiling=Okur on offense, Hibbert on defense. Floor=Taller Pero Antic.
I'm not sure if those are that accurate this year though, I haven't watched enough draft prospects because I was working on my draft project.
... But if they are, I don't think WCS' range of outcomes is much larger than other guys in this draft.

The out of bounds stuff is particularly exciting to me after suffering through 7 years of Brooks. With our personnel it's ludicrous that we aren't able to get better shots in those situations more often.
By Avon Randolph Barksdale Go To PostLMA put his house in Portland up for sale.

Zues mentioned that earlier, wonder if Portland tries to retain what's left or if they go into a tail spin, meaning Wes and Rolo leave.

I mean, it's true, but he also sold his last house a year ago. He's moved like 3 or 4 times while in Portland. I think rich people just do that sorta thing.
By Kuma Go To PostCameron Payne nice. Been a fan of his all season.
I like his PG skills, but worry that he'll struggle against NBA size. Defenses are going to body up on him and take away shooting space. He's more a streaky shooter than reliable. (His misses tend to miss badly.)
Not saying he'll bust, but I can see exactly where he will struggle. Plus, young PGs tend to take years to become reliable. Kings have a ticking clock with the Arena and Cousins.

Hard to know if these types of things are real or if it's just rich people doing rich people things. Like when car storage trucks showed up outside LeBron's house in Miami last summer... For all we knew Bron has his cars stored every summer. He probably does.

Not that it really matters.
Dakari Johnson came through LA for a workout, Randle was working out at the same time with coaches.
Dakari used to have late night practices with Julius when they were teammates at Kentucky. He said Randle's mid range game is drastically improved.
Get hype.

By Dark PhaZe Go To Postsixers should be looking to make some moves in free agency no?Noel just survived his first season, Embiid hasn't hit the floor yet and the top 3 prospect hasn't entered the building. They could give some vets a couple 2-3 year deals to keep the youngins in check and not hurt their future or just hit the cap floor and coast if Hinkie is trying to put together another tank squad.

By Dark PhaZe Go To Postsixers should be looking to make some moves in free agency no?
I doubt it. I could see Hinkie forcing the Bucks to match on Middleton. He also probably would pursue Kwahii and Butler but lol they aren't coming here. I could see him going after Lin if they take Russell and want to start him off at the 2 instead of throwing him to the fire at the 1. But I doubt we sign anybody of note. There probably will be more made up dudes walking through that door.... Jamarious Jones and shit.

I think we bring back Luc to fill that roll. He would keep Embiid in line as they are countrymen and stuff. JRich did a fantastic job as the old man of the locker room last year but he's super done and I rather not have him take minutes away.
By KingGondo Go To PostThis made Knux go
I'm not going to act like the tank is over..I just want MULTIPLE ACTUAL NBA PROSPECTS to play and grow. I won't care about wins or losses if Embiid, Noel, and the 3rd pick are doing cool stuff. I will care if Noel gets traded and we take Mario and stash him overseas because fuck me and be left with watching Embiid and Jakaar Sampson.
I shat on MCW a lot but there was this stretch where we were playing pretty awesome and then Hinkie traded MCW and KJ and fucked it all up. No more of that pls
That team is super young, if I was in Philly I probably wouldn't be opposed to giving them the same trial by fire that Noel got. If they evolve quick then hey, that's cool and if not you get another crack at a top prospect next draft. Noel's chicken legs and Embiid's bad foot are enough reason for Hinkie to want to stockpile a bit more.
He has LA's pick if it's 4th or higher, but you know HInkie is salivating at the possibility of picking 1st and 4th next draft.

How do the "pick the best player available" members of Knicks-Slaent feel about Mudiay's draft stock slipping?
You still gonna campaign for him as the pick if he isn't the consensus 4th best prospect by draft night?

Rubio shot down trade rumors, said he nor his agent know or said anything about a trade. Only way that got out was if ownership said something or its just people talking out their ass. Feels he is close enough to Flip that he would have mentioned it to him.

And yet if the Jazz think Dekker is a starter and Turner is a bench player (for them), I could see it happening.
The Jazz have an awesome front court rotation now and even had a good one prior to rebuilding. I wouldn't be shocked to see them go after Dekker if they think he can evolve in the same way Hayward did.
