The Pitino Knicks back then were as close to a current 3 and D team as you could get. Greald Wilkins and Trent Tucker were bombing like no tomorrow, Pitino never seemed to care much as long as you were playing D. Even at my age back then I wondered why Ewing never took any.

Clarkson/Brown/Black/2nd/27th/34th is way too many young guys for Mitch's liking, rumor was they were gonna trade up or stash a pick in europe anyway.
2nd+27th for 1st is a steal honestly unless they luck into a sleeper gem like Kawhi or Gobert.

Yep. Man, if we can get Towns in this draft I'll be happy happy boy.

Though I've been hearing the same Rumors on the radio.
But the Wolves don't want to bring in more rookies, either. They already have 10 players under contract for next year, plus the top pick, Kevin Garnett, probably Nemanja Bjelica and a new backup point guard, so there's no roster spots. Like, they're trying to consolidate those two second round picks into a late first or else they'll be used on Euro stash players. (Or really, it's Glen Taylor, so sold for cash considerations.)
Denver general manager Tim Connelly conducted a sit-down with D’Antoni in California on Tuesday, league sources said. D’Antoni’s vaunted running game fits into Denver’s determination that it wants to play faster in the future. Melvin Hunt, the interim coach in the wake of Brian Shaw’s firing, remains a strong contender to retain the full-time job, league sources said.

By Kuma Go To PostJust give Melvin Hunt the job…
I don't think Hunt will be a good coach. Not that Mike D is a good choice too
well, at least the nuggets might be fun to watch if Mike D gets the job.
i'd LOVE D'antoni as an assistant.

Wait til Taylor sends Rubio+filler out of there.
But honestly I'd suspect if this even happens the 27+34 get turned into the 20th or something or Minny includes their 2nd too and gets even lower.
Makes a lot of sense if Flip is set on Okafor, might as well try to add another high pick AND Okafor.

Yeah, these rumors sound great. Getting Towns would be absolute perfection.
Wiggins played for Cleveland in Summer League. Dude had to pretend like he wasn't going to Minnesota for a solid two months because that trade didn't happen until August.
Brown is among the most influential coaches in the game, but a 3-point fan he is not. His NBA teams ranked in the bottom 10 in 3-point frequency for 21 straight seasons, often dead last. He coached Reggie Miller – widely known as one of the finest shooters ever – in Indiana, and yet none of his four Pacers teams ranked better than 23rd in 3-point frequency.:areyoukiddingme:
In October, Brown, now the head coach at Southern Methodist University, told reporters he'd like to abolish the 3-point line and instead award three points for layups. He wasn't kidding.
"My biggest concern," Brown says, "is when I go to the playground or I watch kids when I go to a high school game, everyone's jacking up 3-point shots in warm-ups. I don't see our game improve. I don't think the people who invented the game wanted to put more emphasis on outside shooting, but that's my personal opinion."
"People don't cut as much," he adds. "People don't move without the ball as much. We all tend to run the same play to get the open guy. Everybody runs a pick-and-roll, runs a guy down the middle and either you gotta pick him up or not. And you got to decide what you're going to do when the guy pops out for the shot. It's pretty boring, actually."Pop considers Spurs-ball boring. I don't know how to react to this.

One thing I really disliked the article on three-pointers is that they completely glossed over Dallas' 2011 run and Carlisle's/Stotts' offense that was pretty much a prototype of three-ball we see today. To make it sound like the Heat were the first to win on threeball is... wrong. Dallas lead in 3PA and 3PM in the 2011 playoffs and were top 5 in 3PA during the regular season.
I agree with Pop, outside of a couple plays a game where the passing is on point, their offense doesn't really excite me.
But it's a great offense for winning, so he's smart to put his feelings aside and do whats best for the team and not try to stay in the 90s.

I mean, come the fuck on Tom.
EDIT: Looks like D'Antoni said it was Miami did it first. Regardless, COME THE FUCK ON MIKE.
Mike is almost always wrong.
Also I disagree with the article using 3PA as the metric. It should be 3P made for obvious reason.

Sergio Llull heading to Houston
In the section of basketball with David Camps and Martin Guirado discussed the news of Al Primer Toque: Llull has practically determined his departure for the NBA. We also analyze the Endesa League playoffs and the NBA Finals starting tomorrow.
I like him as a combo guard off the bench and possibly finishing games if he's actually good. Now we just need to figure out who's backing up Ariza. Brewer had his moments but I wouldn't mind an upgrade. Dunleavy, maybe.

Pop considers Spurs-ball boring. I don't know how to react to this.
I see we're still pretending that Pop is D'Antoni. Pop runs the most intricate offense in the damn league next to the Triangle. And outside of like one or two years ago (mainly due to an injured Parker and Kawhi for much of this season) the most intricate offense he's ever run.
In my mind, Pop saying this style is boring is as predictable, and more or less the same as Phil or Sloan saying it's boring. Dude's the anti-thesis of Phil in that he dumbs down and deflects from his own tactical coaching genius in interviews whereas Phil constantly reminds you of it. It's why Giri (and much of the stats community When it suits their narrative) still think Pop is D'Antoni Lite despite their playbooks being massively different.
D'Antoni ball is boring as all fuck. Always has been. I was never a fan of a phx 7 seconds or less for all the reasons Pop stated and I've stated. I don't want to see every damn shot be an open 3 off of one pass and one PnR. Nash's individual wizardry was the only saving grace of an otherwise boring as fuck offensive system. Why everyone loved them was beyond me. It's like the basketball equivalent of running 4 wide receivers in straight vertical hail mary routes every damn play and just launching the ball 40 feet. No nuance, no surprises.
Also, and this doesnd need to be said, but the Heat didn't win because they shot 3's, they won because the had this generation's "dominate for a decade" player in his prime with one of the best supporting casts ever. If Phil is coaching that team and running the Triangle, they essentially duplicate or have more success. The east was a cakewalk no matter what they ran. D'An fucking Toni's underachieving ass could have coached that team to a bunch of finals runs.

A combo guard who can initiate his own offense, but is comfortable playing off-ball would be ideal.
I really don't know what Morey's gonna try this offseason. Besides the 5, everything seems up in the air. Smith, Brewer and Terry apparently wanna come back. Beverley's being courted by Parsons. Harden's been seen with Lawson. Tyus Jones has/will work out with us, and I had wanted Jerian Grant..
"I think the Wolves will eventually decide to take (Okafor with the No. 1 pick), or perhaps swap with the Lakers and try to pick up another asset," Chad Ford of ESPN wrote Wednesday.
