If Towns is coached by Flip or Scott for more than a year, I will be pissed. I want to see a 3 BPG stretch 5, not midrange jumper garbage.
By IWMTB19 Go To PostIf Towns is coached by Flip or Scott for more than a year, I will be pissed. I want to see a 3 BPG stretch 5, not midrange jumper garbage.Flip is the GM, too, though. There's no pressure for him to ever step down, unless Glen Taylor starts caring about more than having basketball players at his house for dinner and sitting courtside. There's really not any outside pressure on Flip, either, because he's a fairly personable dude and media members like him. There are certain perks to doing KFAN hits every week, I suppose.
Maybe something changes next summer, I don't know. I don't want to verbalize these thoughts anymore.
By Kuma Go To Postfuccck the Pelicans, they took Darren Erman from us >_<.What's the word on him? Other then he's into the voyeur scene? Seems pretty well regarded.

Great defensive coach. Made fuckyboys Zeller & Olynk look like basketball players on the defensive end for small stretches. Great at scouting talent and player development. He is a poor man Thibs minus the flaws.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postrumor on real gm that the wolves are open to moving Ricky in the right dealThat's old and I don't put any stock in it, even if Chad Ford keeps saying it. Flip was on the radio recently and pretty flatly denied it. Even if the front office didn't like Rubio (and Flip just gave Rubio a 4/56 extension, remember), his value is at its absolute lowest coming off last season and I don't think they're quite that dumb.

Gentry is certainly looking to make me eat crow by doubting him.
with PF's that used to be considered tweeners becoming new age nba pf's, I wonder if there is a way to resurrect derrick williams and michael beasley from the dead at bargain price

By psychintellect Go To Posttranistion defense? He can get back on D from the opposing 3 point line fast, he already covers the floor insanely fast.
By psychintellect Go To Postthanks magic
Sir pls. Someone has to be the voice of reason. If that makes me Magic for a bit so be it.
Acting like the #1 pick isn't supposed to be amazing.
edit:at ~26 seconds when he's a step inside the 3 point line and gets to the rim without dribbling.

every year there's a big splashing threes like it aint shit
Most 7 footers are slow, plodding big men. It was just in a practice facility but his jumpshot wasn't what impressed me, it was how quick he looked and how good his handles were for someone his size. Having a 5 that can shoot the three and seemingly also beat his guy off the dribble is pretty insane.

By KingGondo Go To PostNo wonder your posting has been limited.First off, just want to say thank you for yet another cliche post.
Realistically, that's not even a bad trade if Saunders' main goal was to compete immediately and not long term. There isn't a generational talent in this draft and you already know what Howard can provide to a team.
Don't even try it db.
By Omega Go To PostYou do because who needs a big man that can shoot.I would prefer a big man with actual good footwork. Anyways, the good ol' days:

By db Go To PostDwight Howard is walking wasted potential. He's still a champ in his mind though.
Wasted potential?
He's a 3 time DPOY
8x all star
He carried a team of absolute scrubs to the Finals. He's no Hakeem or anything but he should go down as one of the best defensive centers ever. Prime/healthy Dwight was ridiculous. Its taken practically 3 seasons to reciver fron that back injury.
He's not on Shaq/Hakeem level. But hardly anybody compares to those two. Wish he was smarter though.
As much hate as Dwight gets or deserves, people fail to remember how good he was/can be.
I'm not sure what else you can ask from a #1 pick honestly.
Posting All-Star like it means anything post 2000. My point about potential was his mind, not his physicality.
By db Go To PostPosting All-Star like it means anything post 2000. My point about potential was his mind, not his physicality.Consistently being an all star does matter though. I mean, I think only 10 active players have been to at least 8 AS games. That many appearances practically puts you in the HoF.
Could you elaborate on the second part please?
It's a terrible trade for Minnesota because even if you assume towns will never be as good as Dwight right now.
A. Dwight is 30 this year.
B. He can be a free agent after this coming year.
Dwight is NOT staying in Minn, I can guarantee that. You do not trade the #1 pick/Towns for a 1 year Dwight rental.

Why would Saunders' main goal be to compete immediately? T-Wolves, like the Knicks, didn't tank. They were legitimately bad.
i can't do this anymore.

Wasted offensive potential really. Otherwise, he's the best C since Yao and probably the last of a dying breed.
He's nowhere near Shaq or the Dream either.
I'm pretty sure db thinks Meyers Leonard is the future, so don't worry about him.

By Omega Go To PostWhy would Saunders' main goal be to compete immediately? T-Wolves, like the Knicks, didn't tank. They were legitimately bad.Rubio played 22 games, Pekovic 31, Martin 39, Muhammad 38. I mean, yeah, eventually they weren't trying to win, which is why Young got traded and Wiggins and LaVine saw so many minutes, but they were not trying to be bad, nor would they have been if they had stayed healthy. (Not the worst team in the league anyway.)

Even I would feel insulted.
Heat have denied that they ever offered him that per LeBatard though.
Not too sure what to think though. Riley and Arison can't be this stupid. Wade even fucking coined the 'Heat Lifer' slogan for their ad campaign last season.
This shouldnt really be happening. Eat the tax and front load the contract to maintain flexibility.
You can't really front-load contracts in the NBA, though. At least not significantly. The rules don't allow it.
Either they pay him or they don't. It's that simple.
