JVG up to 2 years ago was espousing stuff like "minutes restrictions are rubbish, they're basketball players and young, they can do 4000 minute seasons"
He's toned that down and seems to have come around on the sports science / injury management / workload management stuff. Which makes me wonder if he decided he wanted to come back to coaching two years ago, and started working to update his knowledge back then, but has been waiting to cherry pick the job he wanted.

By DY_nasty Go To PostHe really didn't adapt at all. He was clinging on to later 90s ball harder than every other coach in the league outside of Larry Brown. You saved yourself from getting blasted with this post.
By Jonm Go To PostWhat was the issue in Houston? Other then the obvious. The offenses he ran were terrible. He/China essentially ran Yao into the ground. Doesn't like to rely on rookies or younger talent(he wouldn't have kept Harden benched that Game 6).
I want to say the reason why we underachieved so much was because of Carroll Dawson, but I wasn't against the Adelman hire one bit given 3 first round exits, two you can legitimately say we should have won.

The more recent pieces I had come across seemed to show an embrace of analytical thinking and modern offensive systems but the last thing I want is another Byron Scott.....or Monty Williams. Guys that can't shed their 90's roots and let it infect their thinking to their detriment.

Just think of him as -at worst- a more likable, better Scott Skiles who may have pulled his head out of his ass a bit since he was last in the league.
Wittman and his coaches attended this basketball game yesterday:
that along with his recent comments about changing to a more modern brand of basketball...
i want to believe...
that along with his recent comments about changing to a more modern brand of basketball...

The only positive i can say then is that Demps and Monty clashed because Demps is a big believer in up tempo basketball and is more analytic driven then ESPN gave him credit for earlier this year.
I can't see him hiring JVG unless he has shifted some of that thinking from his last stint.
Thibs, due to his success, is probably the only guy I think Demps would consider that wouldn't have to commit to an up tempo style system..

Now he's only basketball skills away from being a starting PG.
shitastic rookie season.
remind me not to ever accept a job as a scouting reporter for college players.
im meh on grant---he's relying on that size advantage in college quite a bit
I like Tyus a lot...that s my guy right now
Looney has some nice skills but I mean fuck just put Porter on a bulk up and you have a guy who has the same strengths except can actually play SF

shiit that will only make people want to hire you more. Most "draft" experts are wrong as shit yearly. Different Sport but Mel Kiper Jr legit gets paid to be wrong every NFL draft.
go for it.
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostWinslow isn't getting enough hype imo. I would actually consider him at 3 if I were Philly.I'd love for NY/Philly/Sacramento to just fuck up the commonly accepted mock by reaching hard early but I don't see it happening.

I really really like Winslow. Based only off of the games I saw and the youtube highlight tapes (lol his are pretty cool yo) ,I like him more than Russell. Not at 3 persay but I really like him. If he can create for himself in the NBA consistently, it raises his ceiling quite a bit.
An NBA big shot who I know and trust just told me a coach is getting fired in next couple days, and nobody sees it coming.

MKG makes the Hornets a top 10 defense damn near by himself,. MKG with a unfucked jumper is a damn good player

Can't be Thibs? Scott?
Then again Sheridan has been blackballed to the dead zone at this point..he has no sources
Didn't Chris Sheridan just write a really creepy piece about wanting to ogle Glen Taylor's wife. That sounds like a man with sources.
I don't like being here. Need PG help but don't like anyone that late in the Draft unless Payne is there.
Hello misery bros
How recently has he come around on that? Feels like I heard him still rejecting the minutes stuff on podcasts this year.
