By Gabyskra Go To PostWhat? Dirk in the playoffs during the title run was absolutely the best player on the planet. No question. LeBron could only dream of being clutch like that.Great, so that made him the best scorer in the world.

What he was doing then was unique. The most well-rounded player is not always the best.
Nobody has dominated both sides of the floor in a couple seasons though.

Even before, there was always something frustrating about him. Calling him the best (and knowing he was) was so anti-climactic every time he gave the last shot to someone else. Jordan spoiled us.

but LBJ can dominte on D...
Also Davis disagrees about nobody dominting on both ends

I'm not ready to call him the best yet, but if current trend holds, he'll be there very, very soon.

His opponent sucks against him, and he's great at help D, what else do you want?

LBJ does play solid D in times during games just like healthy Kobe. They won't do it all game tho
and Davis does dominte on D he almost averaged 3 blocks and 1.5 steals from the 4 and 5...that's dream-like
By Gabyskra Go To PostHis opponent sucks against him, and he's great at help D, what else do you want?Eh he still kinda Ibaka tier, raw stats is great.. but Pelican isn't even top 15 defensive team, even if his teammate maybe can be blamed but I think with that kind of Impact, he still kind of overrated as defensive anchor.
Said it before, he's the best in the world in my eyes.
How does Davis not dominate at defence while handling a large scoring load.
Defending eats up a shit ton of your energy and when you're guarding multiple positions and especially people bigger than you, you're going to tire out faster. Stack that on top of having to dominate on offence it becomes a very difficult task.
Anthony Davis very much is a dominate defender for what is asked of him. He can be Rudy Gobert tier on defence but his scoring output is going to decrease as a result which is undesirable as AD is the number one option on the team.
Kawhi Leonard is a godtier defender at his position and is only just getting a feel for dominating offensively by adding in a 3 point and post game.

Well, you just type in "Nicole B Jones" (the name that appears in the first account) on google, and that's the first link.
It is very difficult to carry a team offensively and then also lock down your man on the other end

great argument though. All that defensive domination on the 22nd best defensive team in the league.

Tim Duncan?

The alleged Melo phone number is an Atlanta number registered to people who have no affiliation to Melo or his family.
Playoff seeding by record only? Whoooooooooo didn't think that was coming til next year. Thought this year would only be no divisional winner advantage.
Melo has fallen so far. Look what the Knicks have done to KD 1.0.
Also, shout to Morris-kun.

But AD does a very good job on defence for what is asked of him. His versatility is what makes him so good especially as he is still developing not even hitting his prime yet.
He provides spacing, he is able to guard multiple positions, he averages 10 rebounds a game (3 Off/7 Def), almost 3 blocks a game, almost 1.5 steals a game, his Defensive Win Shares are similar to Marc Gasols while he is scoring almost 10 points a game more than Marc Gasol.
He does this all while having to average 20-25%+ of his team's points on a per 36 minute basis.
When we compare him to young/prime Tim Duncan on a 36 minute basis, their offensive and defensive contributions are extremely similar in how they do in defence compared to their offensive contributions. Tim Duncan is great and is the best power forward to every play the game but he wasn't asked to defend multiple positions and carry as much of a load as AD does since Pop's system allows to lessen the load off him.

By Shun Go To PostBut AD does a very good job on defence for what is asked of him. People read far too much into his box score numbers.

There are two area's I think really define a great bigman defender, pick n roll defense and rim protection, both of which he is quite mediocre in. He has great timing on his blocked shots but has a hard time recognizing what a team is doing on a pick n roll and how to respond, same thing on contesting on the shot blocking.
The Pelicans schemes and maybe coaching probably play a part in the pick n Roll defense and maybe playing with Asik gives him an excuse on his rim protection but the fact remains the he simply isn't great at those two aspects. You're giving too much credibility to his versataility though, 90% of the time he's guarding 4s or 5s, he might get switched on to a wing a couple plays a games.
He's great with help defense at times and he will continue to get better as a man defender.
He's definitely on track and has the potential to be an amazing defender, he just ins't there yet, whether he can be, with the amount of responsibility he has on offense, is up for debate. Having Gentry as his coach should definitely lessen the load though.
He's amazing on offense and good on defense, I'm not asking for more or anything. In terms of playing well on both sides, he's the mvp, yeah. I'm just not saying he's dominating the defensive end, because he isn't.
By Gabyskra Go To PostWell, you just type in "Nicole B Jones" (the name that appears in the first account) on google, and that's the first link.
Well if its on the internet it has to be true.....
His numbers dip when he has to share the floor with Omer Asik who clogs up the lane and make spacing difficult. Compared to Tiago Splitter who clears up space and allows Tim Duncan to play his game as a PF and score and assist. It's harder to maneuver when you have Omer Asik eating up the floor.
Take away the scoring load and force AD to play center instead of power forward and you literally get Tim Duncan level production.
Force AD to play Center in smaller lineups with Ryan Anderson and he'll give you exactly what you're looking for akin to Tim Duncan when he plays the 5 with Boris Diaw or even Leonard at the 4. His defensive contributions naturally to go up because he is the anchor at the 5.
What he's doing at his age, in Monty William's crap system, with his scoring load, is definitely amazing and worth calling dominant and will only get better. He is a game changer on both ends of the floor.

Davis defensive tool is great, and most likely gonna win multiple DPoY
But what I'm trying to say (and psy) based from what seen at last season, he shouldn't end up at 4th at DPOY voting..

Stephs MVP year wasn't as good as Durants. LeBrons had seasons like Durants MVP year a couple of times though--besides him though, no active player has put up a better season.
By Kuma Go To PostAD a defensive stats stuffer. Not a defensive a stopper. Same could be said about Draymond.Draymond stat isn't too fancy, but at advanced metric he awesome.

Brazilian insurance for when Kobe disintegrates mid season.
I have no idea what the guard and SF rotation will look like
Russell/Lou/Huertas
Clarkson/JBrown/ABrown
Young/Kobe
But I don't know if Russell should be starting and Lou should definitely stay in his 6th man lane. Clarkson is getting prepped for 2-guard future....Huertas might be starting PG to start the season lol.

http://www.mavsmoneyball.com/2015/7/6/8899491/brazilian-point-guard-dallas-mavericks-marcelo-huertas-free-agent
After he graduated, I lost track of Marcelo. I knew he had returned home and was playing professionally, but beyond that, details were scarce. Then in the spring of 2005, I saw his name as a potential late second round selection in the NBA Draft. But, the draft came and went without Marcelo's name being called. In the summer of 2007, with the U.S. playing in the FIBA Americas tournament, I caught what appeared to be Huertas laughing after a dead ball with Deron Williams, who we had played against back in high school. I still remember freaking out and calling our old high school coach. I knew Marcelo was pretty good, but I had no idea he was on the Brazilian national team. Since then, I've followed my friend's career closely, even getting to watch him play in person against Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James in a 2012 Olympic warm up game.
This can be stated with authority: Marcelo Huertas is a better player than Raymond Felton by a significant margin. He's a better pure point guard than J.J. Barea. He's the kind of player who can run an offense fully. There are many top foreign players who elect to play over seas for more money and bigger roles. Huertas is one of those players. That he's testing the NBA market now is simply a timing issue, not one related to talent or skill.
Kobe, Young, and Lou....that's a lot of shots and not enough ball.....then again Kobe has been dying midseason soooooo
that's the first question that crossed my mind, "is this dude better than raymond felton?"
