Welcome home, Trax 2.0.
2 month data is enough of a sample size to see that someone's a good defender. Will he hold players to under 33% from the field for his entire career? OF course not - but playing next to Bargs and Hardaway and Larkin and the like and consistently shutting down his man for 24 games is pretty impressive for a rook.
No reason to think he won't be a really good, maybe even elite, perimeter defender long term
By reilo Go To Post2 month data lol
Welcome home, Trax 2.0.
As I said, 2 months during which the Knicks opponent scored 103p/g... 3 points more than before.
But I mean, what is there to discuss, Amundson and Bargnani are really good apparently.
By Vahagn Go To PostBargs is a good fit, Phil's suggested as much in multiple interviews including the Phil files. But KP is Bargs with tons of upside, so he had to go and should have gone.
I've said that as well.
http://www.postingandtoasting.com/2015/3/10/8182959/these-langston-galloway-defensive-tracking-numbers-are-kinda-nuts
Galloway's defensive tracking numbers through 2 months of play last season were off the charts. They made AD's numbers look slightly lacking.
That's a really really solid lineup defensively
Phil say a lot of things like Gasol isn't worth it to the Knicks to pay him 5 mil more to RoLo.
also anything that Bargs does well Williams doesn't do. And both don't rebound or play D but upgrades...
By obijkenobi Go To PostBrehs, my gf's mom is coming down from Michigan for Thanksgiving week and I was thinking of taking her to a Spurs game. What do you guys think would be better entertainment wise:
Spurs vs Mavs
Spurs vs Hawks
That's tough
Spur vs Hawks. Both teams will likely be trying to play to get a high seed and both teams should be good.
Mavs have that texas triangle beef going on so you know they will put in effort..... but they legit might suck next year.
All things equal spurs should win both those games.

U know, for all the shit talking your doing, you do know you're rooting for the 2015-2016 D Leage Blazers right?

You really think Derrick Williams is their go to guy? Amundson, O Quinn, Porzi, will all be playing the 4

Maybe but he'll probably be in the same situation as Hardaway was as a 7 or 8th man

Which do you find more entertaining? Good basketball (barring injuries and off night) or shit talking and booing a Dallas team that probably sucks.

Loves ranking pretty much says everything that needs to be said about the list though at #17:
It seems necessary to first point out that these rankings strip a player of current team context. We’re evaluating not what Kevin Love was to the Cavaliers last season or even what he could be to Cleveland this year. What matters is the player that Love is in ability and concept—how much he would be able to contribute to an assortment of teams in a variety of circumstances. That player is impressive, even if Love’s most recent campaign was not.
Draymond Green pretty much in the same air as LaMarcus Aldridge and almost 20 steps above someone like Paul Millsap for instance. I wonder if the two writers who did this list watched games besides the Finals.
It's clickbait bullshit and they know it.

By PSY! Go To PostGaby who's your favorite player currently in the league?John Wall for the past few years, for sure. I've seen him play 10 times this past year, it was great. Carmelo (and without having to go through a PR filter, he'd agree with everything I've been saying). Fournier (but I'm very worried about the next season, I still cheer for people who are obviously not the best ever). I think Anthony Davis is the best player in the world. Diamantidis (I'm a lefty). Excited about Hezonja. I like the Spurs system. I'm a nostalgic too, I reminisce a lot. I tend to like David more than Goliath (more Ewing than Shaq).

Jason Smith and Quincy Acy both started for the Knicks for, off the top of my head, probably like 50-60 games this past season. So yea - whatever the Knicks throw out there - 18-22 min of D-Will included - is an upgrade over that.

The Hornets will be super interesting to watch. They have actual defenders, no one is pimping out someone with the level of Amundson.

So kettle back off the pot
But are SLAENT's most hated teams gonna be better this year or are we gonna keep hating and think they're not contenders?
Are the Clippers, Rockets, or Cavs actually any better than the year before? Do you personally think they are and are contenders for a title?
Or are they cursed and their teams too dysfunctional off bad management and terrible chemistry to warrant a title?
Are these teams even SLAENT's most hated amongst the majority of NBA members? Should the Thunder be added to the list? Like should we conduct a poll for that?

By Gabyskra Go To PostI'll be meta for a second and comment the commentary, but in US sports culture, I always find it fascinating how some people think it's a matter of pride or loyalty to defend the team they root for, no matter what. There's no end to that attitude, it's campy as shit, and leads to disillusion. Like, if reilo was around saying he's happy Aldridge left, or Heat fans saying they expect a title without LeBron, would you feel the discussion has any worth? Why adopt such an attitude, like Knicks fans are a mob that needs to stand up Ă la "right or wrong, my country", alongside one another? A message board and discussing ideas is not playing ball.
But it's really worse at Sla&nt, cos in the real world, more Knicks fans dislike the KP pick than there are those who like it… I think they're wrong, but at least they can be critical…
LMAO.
You haven't been around us long enough to see my tantrums as a Knick fan. Last year I was in full blown meltdown mode and wanted the team blown up about...oh, 10 games into the season.
This year I'm showing optimism. It's not blind loyalty. Believe me, I'm the last person who will blindly root for this organization. I literally stopped watching them from 2003-2009 because I was absolutely disgusted with the entire franchise and the Marbury/Zeke era. I was more FUCK DA KNICKS than anyone else here. It wasn't until Donnie Walsh came around and started cleaning up a little bit and brought in Amare that I started getting interested in the team. We were still an average .500 squad, but at least not absolutely pitiful and revolting.
So I literally went from religiously watching for 13 years straight, to just dropping the team like a bad habit and watched my #2 Magic team.

Batum + MKG vs Middleton + Giannis... Like seriously, just based on that kind of wing defense, I don't see these two teams not making the playoffs...

Here's my thing going all the way back to the Ewing trade the knicks been fucking up by trying to do to much. Its always been their issue, going for a homerun and striking out or mismanaging cap room, or saying fuck youth for a big name player that doesn't fit..... and it got them shit but being the longest running joke in the league.
They get arguably one of the smartest basketball minds EVER who comes in and does the opposite of what made them a laughing stock and people are now complaining that he didn't go for the home run, he didn't mismanage the cap, or say fuck the youth on the roster for a big name player that doesn't fit.....
Its completely out of touch with the reality of the knicks past to say Phil is fucking up. These are the type of moves that anyone who isn't an outright starphucker fan has been calling for, for over a decade. Like I'm seeing the cognitive dissonance of people shitting on Phil's moves when they know that those are the right moves. Like arguing that a team that won 17 wins still has holes mean they will be worse when Phil basically didn't have a Hull to begin the FA with.

The unfortunate reality is that there are two types of Knick fans: the Dolans and the Phils. One is the quintessential New Yorker dipshit who just wants everything now-now-now-now! The other is willing to wait and plan accordingly and consequently go out there and take the flack for it and ask people to be patient. Likewise, all of the complaining out there comes from the Dolans, because the Phils have been silenced. Before it was the Phils in many of us who were complaining about the team, while the Dolans were like "GET THIS GUY! GET THAT GUY! COLLECT THEM ALL!"
When I was younger, I fell into the former. Now that I'm older, I'm the latter. Everything Jackson's been doing with the team so far has been pretty much his best with what he's got to deal with.

You really love misrepresenting people's words don't u?
The Knicks got better at the 4 in SPITE of Williams. Not because of him. He's the 15th best guy on the roster that they picked up for peanuts, and assuming good health will barely see the court.
all I said about Bargs was that he was a good triangle fit. His passing and mid range shooting were effective in the offense and IF they picked up a combination of Love and Gasol. He'd be a good 4th big coming off the bench. I also said, the night of the draft that he's gone with Porzi on board.
I mean shit dude - I trashed the Porzi pick but I still hink Porzi is a much better player to have on your roster than Bargs - that should tell how just how low I think of Bargs in the grand scheme of things.
You've spent the entire last two pages talking on and on about Derrick Williams when he's like the 6th best big on the depth chart and aren't catching on that all the comments that me and many others are making are not including Williams in the picture.
But by all means let's spend 2 pages talking about whoever the hell's acquisition of Cole Aldrich as a good measuring stick for the FA period this summer.

I didn't misinterpret anything... Williams is going to log major mins he is, right now, the starter on paper and shouldnt fall below the 8th player...because there arent 14 players better than him on the Knicks...
