By db Go To PostEvery time I read JaVale McGee's name, Shaq's voice is in my head.lol I read it and just shouted out the voice.
"OH OH MY BOY JAVALE MCGEE!!"
Karl rumored to be interested in coaching Javale again lol

So who makes Team USA 2016? It looks like there are going to be some hurt feelings this time around.
Paul/Curry
Harden/Westbrook
Durant/George
Lebron/Melo
Davis/Love
Those guys are the closest to locks I think, which leaves only two spots for Dwight, Blake, Irving, Kawhi, Cousins, Wall and Klay.

Why would Love be a lock? He's proven to be not worth much as a low usage guy and Cousins was easily better than AD last summer.
I would let swap love for boogie and still have two slots..and I'd bring Wall and Blake. Blake as a security big that can play the 4 or 5. Team USA relying on shooting means something went wrong. They are a defense and break team, they need those specialists more than strictly shooting specialists. Wall without having to worry about offense or energy is simply going to be the best guard defender and transition guard there by some length and paired with Westbrook and George nobody is scoring on the perimeter.

They're going to give more leeway towards guys who have played on the teams before. Aldridge, for example, has never been on a team while Love was there in '10 and '12. He was one of the best players in 2012 actually.

Blake over Love, easily
Phil on 2000 NBA Finals Game Six:
Phil casually inventing D'Antoni ball.
Phil arguing that an open corner 3 is more dangerous than a prime Shaq being single covered 15 years ago - But he don't like corner threes doe!
One of our best moves was a play we called the "fist chest", which involved having two players do a screen-roll on the wing while another filled te corner. The beauty of the play was that it drew three pacers away from the lane to cover the screen-roll and the corner shooter. That forced them to either cover Shaq one on one (a big mistake) or leave the corner shooter with a wide open three (even worse)
We ran the fist chest six times in the fourth period, and it helped open up the floor for us

By Moris Go To PostOlivier Hanlan signes to bc zalgiris. Who you ask? Yes.
It's a top 16 European team. If he delivers, he'll go to the NBA. The team is rebuilding (Songaila became an assistant coach, Javtokas is getting old...), he'll get a proper opportunity. Not that I care, but Jazz fans might.
By Gabyskra Go To PostIt's a top 16 European team. If he delivers, he'll come to the NBA. I'm surprised Kaunas went for him.
I was referring to Hanlan who actually had good 'attempts at the rim' stats in college. Some think he might be a late round sleeper, surprised he's going this route with Exum's injury status, he would have got some burn and only had to outperform Cotton and/or Burke for minutes.
Hanlan was fucking horrible in Summer League. I'm willing to argue anyone as better than Trey Burke, but even I can't do that with regards to Hanlan.

I believe in you, if you were able to do it for Exum you surely coulda did it for Hanlan.
If you are a Jazz fan or really bored here are a couple videos on Raul Neto,.

There's a vine of Towns doing a through the legs reverse dunk on ESPN. It's supposed to be a highlight, but really his head is like 2 feet from the rim despite being almost 7 feet and he has to stretch his left arm out all the way to get the ball over the rim.

By knux-future Go To PostHe feels no pain in his foot and wants to play. Doctors say his shit is breaking again/ never healed. Embiid says fuck dat shit, let me play. And thus the surgery has not happened yet and Embiid is hanging out with John Wall with no boot on his "broken" foot and the organization is quiet as shit after the last message was "surgery will happen in 7-10 days"..which was a month ago now.Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.
sooooooo
None of this is confirmed but the writing is on the wall so to speak.
also this has been an issue for a while as Jah knew Embiid's foot was fucked prior to the draft.

If I had to play one game, who would I want to coach: Phil Jackson or Dean Smith?
"Dean Smith. [Some audible gasps/murmurs.] Fortunately Dean Smith helped me become the basketball player I am today. Phil was lucky because I was taught the game by Dean Smith."
Biggest trash-talker I ever played against?
"Probably Larry Bird. He talks a lot of trash. Good trash, though, not dirty trash. Good trash."
If I had the chance to go one-on-one with Steph Curry or LeBron, which one would I choose to go one-on-one with?
"Right now, or when I was in my prime? Right now? Buddy, I couldn't beat – well, I'd go against [Stephen] Curry because I'm a little bit bigger than him. So I could kind of back him in. But LeBron is a little bit too big."
This is the ESPN question. I know it's going to be all over ESPN. [Note: He was right.] If I was in my prime, could I beat LeBron in a one-on-one game?
[Long pause in which the campers mutter/shout their opinions.]
No question!
[Huge applause.]
What kind of advice would I give Kobe Bryant?
[Uncomfortable laughter in the crowd.]
"Actually, Kobe and I are good friends. I like Kobe, we talk a lot, I hope he comes back healthy. I think he's one of the great players of the game, I think he's done a lot for the game, and he has a true love for the game of basketball. I absolutely have high regard for Kobe Bryant.
"Even though he stole all my moves, but that's OK. I still love him like a brother."

for a guy that loves to bring up rings
Phil got you 6 rings while Dean Smith got you nothing but individual accolades.

By Omega Go To Postfor a guy that loves to bring up ringsPhil got you 6 rings while Dean Smith got you nothing but individual accolades. He won a title under Dean as well...and Dean was the first coach to really believe in him.
Also MJ wins rings without PJ as long as Pippen still comes maybe not 6 but rings I doubt PJ chips in that era with another squad.
it's all what ifs but don't act like Phil made MJ and not the other way around
Probably a 10% chance that he gets evaluations that point towards him being able to play so Embiid is probably just waiting until the last possible moment to get the surgery.

He also probably wants to enjoy his summer without being on crutches/in a boot. Plus he has repeatedly said he feels great, no pain in his foot and we have been known to lie soooooo.

what does that mean?
EDIT: dug around.. learned it meant qualifying offer.
He didn't take the QO. Rich Paul just said if he does he won't be on the Cavs after that. Just your usual posturing going on. Cavs will probably cave in quick now.
By psychintellect Go To PostBut why?To tank harder?
Yes. This is always the answer with Hinkie...even when it is not.
But no seriously, his silence on everything and the fact that we have done some scummy ass shit makes it easy to speculate shady shit is afoot. I understand his motto of not letting anything out there because it weakens your ability to make moves (We could have gotten a better package for Iverson for example, if the owner didn't basically yell to the heavens that we were going to move him before it) but goddam this surgery was supposed to happen a month ago.
Melo is a leader by example, not by exhorting his teammates. He's also very into the triangle, and with a better supporting cast he has every chance to be the MJ and Kobe of our offense.
Well...

You talking about Bargs and Larkin?
Those words are from April that were just published this week. They were both still technically Knick players back then. He's just speaking the truth. And he isn't wrong about either of them.

The amount of guys, including MJ, who talk about Phil with an insanely high regard are literally too many to count.
And while MJ was MJ regardless, let's not forget how much more those great players did with Phil than without him. TD wins chips without Pops too, but probably not 5.
Besides which, MJ has always talked about Dean Smith like he was a second father. Something about the impact on the formative years. Phil took over a prime MJ who needed that last 5% mental growth but was already the best player on the planet whereas freshman MJ was just a role player dealing with being second guessed his whole life (the famous varsity story) and ended with him leaving college as one of the top two players in the entire country for a college player.
