20. Los Angeles Lakers: Roy Hibbert's acquisition actually makes total sense. He instantly gives the team defensive stability, which means youngsters D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle can learn properly instead of flailing away with no structure at all.
Great read on former NBA players/current has beens trying out for the Korean League.
Hilarious convo also.

Next up was Montgomery Paek, a lawyer for the league who went over the standardized player contract page by page. He used the word “important” no fewer than a dozen times. It was important that the players print their names legibly on page one and sign their names on page 18. It was important for them to know that the contract runs from August through February, covering the league’s 54-game season. It was important for them to understand that they would undergo drug testing.
“Even marijuana can void a contract,” Paek said. “Does anyone have any questions?”
A hand shot up. It belonged to Rashad McCants, a former first-round pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves who was most recently playing in Venezuela.
“Are the contracts negotiable?” he asked.
The short answer was no. If nothing else, McCants was now easily identifiable to the league officials in attendance. It was unclear whether that was a good thing.
By Moris Go To PostLA is not better than 10 NBA teams. They have a decent squad on the low.

If Kobe is Oldbe instead of Deadbe (like 2012/13 Kobe) it takes about a year to really get back from an Achilles injury but I ain't betting on that, if Hibbert can be an All-Star again he did lose like 15 pounds so he could play a bit faster and he's still pretty young but...I'm not betting on that either, if Lou can be 6moy material, if Nick Young can harness his fuckery, if Randle/Russ figure it out and fast, if Clarkson continues to improve.
Too much has to go right for LA to be the 11th worse team in the league, I think it's more likely Clarkson shows he can be productive for a whole season, Lou volume scores off the bench and Russ/Randle take baby steps towards being starters while being on the 5th worst team in the league.
we all know kobe's gonna try to do too much and injure himself before december.
i know this, he knows this, everyone knows this

Not a surprise. From one interview with Vlade, it sounded like they had offered him a spot and were giving him the summer to think it over.
Kings still employ Dean Oliver. Likely still use analytic information.
Kings were very high on analytics while imploding. I always loved how the nerd crew never wanted to admit the Kings were one of theirs.

one of our beat writers reported that Vlade said on the radio that Peja already turned down the offer to stay home to be a family man
as heartwarming as it is that Vlade is trying to bring the band back together, it'd be nice to have a real fucking GM
Has Hollinger made a significant analytics based move in Memphis that's really been beneficial to that team? Other than getting rid of Rudy Gay for Prince (who's out of the league now essentially) there's not really any thing he's been able to do.
It's funny watching the Sacramento Nepotisms now.

I don't know what Bobby would actually do. He's been around the team in some form for years. As assistant coach and as part of the half time or post game show. Corliss has been a coach as well.
Team still needs a cap brain. Someone to tell Vlade not to give away picks when you don't need to.

Still can't believe Vlade gave those picks away with players just to create cap room while not having a guarantee from players who he was clearing room for.
Terrible gamble.

By IWMTB19 Go To PostI got blocked by a few of their guys on Twitter after I said DeMarcus Cousins was good and Wins Produced was bad.I'm not surprised. After reading about WP, it sounds like it's not much better than PER (if at all). It's also very strange to have a site completely devoted to a single statistic (which, at least as far as I can tell, it is). None of the baseball statistics sites I can think of ever did that, even though some of the authors would have had very excellent reasons to do so.
WP rated Asik as a better offensive player than Rose in Rose's MVP year so I think I can say it's a good bit worse than PER.
