By ratcliffja Go To PostI mean Wes Johnson was a lesser player on a terrible Laker team so I'm not counting on him being anything more than a third stringer, but I also don't think he's outright terrible from what I've seen. Did you see our bench last year? You know things are bad when your impact player on the bench is Austin Rivers. It was Crawford. Rivers had like 2 playoff moments and 40 awful games.
Also, Wes is even worse than you remember.
By Mamba Go To PostAre you sure that's true? Because he was waived and stretched, so I don't think that factors in at all. I think that's only true for amnestied players who were bidded on.The only people of value we lost in the offseason were Big Baby and Barnes and neither of them were exactly crucial for us. I'd really like to retain Davis, but that doesn't seem likely right now. Regardless, adding Pierce is huge for us considering he knows how to play in Doc's system and is actually somebody who can hit last minute shots. Smith and Stephenson are definite question marks, but I prefer that over the definite garbage we have. I'm sure I'll be calling them both idiots by the end of the season, but there's definitely potential there.
Pierce coming off the bench? I doubt that.
It's weird. The Clippers are much deeper and yet I feel like they're worse. The pieces don't seem to fit at all.
Edit: I love Crawford, but he played pretty poorly last year after the injury. He never made an impact in the playoffs.

By Mamba Go To PostPierce coming off the bench? I doubt that.I think he'd do it at his age for the good of the team. More problematic, though, is the idea of Josh Smith at the 3.
I like Pierce off the bench though that would leave only Lance, Wes or Smoove starting which is just gross. I think Barnes was actually a better option to start than any of their current players.

It's nice see the ABC side give a fuck about the NBA contract.

Making last minute shots isn't a skill, it's randomness. Pierce will regress this coming year and of course he also will continue to get worse. He should be off the bench and playing like 20mpg.
Barnes was also their hustle guy, something they lack.
Like I said, individually all the players are better but I'm unconvinced of the fit.

Crawford doesn't NEED the ball...

future quote from Lance Stephenson.
They're saying we might use Joe off the bench this season. I'd be really pleased if that were the case. Joe and Brook are both ball dominant, it's never been a good fit. RHJ would make more sense with the starters for his defense.
Yo what the fuck goes on here? Jrue is broken. Luc is broken. Trob's knee is fucked. Embiid....
tanking is literally bad for you.

im not here to mock the clippers signing of josh smith,
but i would like to inquire on the combined IQ of Deandre, Josh smith, Lance, and Crawful when they're all on the floor at the same motherfucking time.

We absolutely need PG help. But I wouldn't touch Lawson right now.
Josh Smith was second in usage for the Rockets last season. We're in desperate need of a secondary playmaker, but I'm feeling pretty iffy about Lawson.
Beverley / Prigioni
Harden / McDaniels / Terry / Johnson
Ariza / Brewer / Papanikolaou / Dekker
Motiejunas / Jones / Harrell
Howard / Capela / Dorsey
Prigioni is the closest thing we've got to an actual point guard, and at his age, I dunno what's gonna happen with him.
Edit: Forgot about Thornton. Glut of wings or SGs in PG bodies. Jones would have been a trade piece, but our PF depth took a hit with Smith leaving.

Detroit might want to unload Jennings, but he is coming off an Achilles injury.

Lakers interested in Lawson? Lord, Jimmy is desperate to keep his job and his plan is compiling a mish mash of players to act as if he's upgrading
lawson is a good player inspite of being for all intents and purposes a pos dude
also cause mitch prob realizes russell's gonna be garbo his rookie year
also cause mitch prob realizes russell's gonna be garbo his rookie year
IMO it would be incredibly short sighted to bring such a volatile human being into a locker room with a bunch of rookies who need quality veteran leadership. Bring Russell in and have his mentor be Lawson?
Chancey on if Denver should move Ty:
I don't know. Maybe the combo of Nash and Kobe overrides this dudes fuckery, but this move would reek of Jimmy trying to keep his job and acting desperately.
Chancey on if Denver should move Ty:
Yes. I think so. I mean, well, one, Ty, he has not demonstrated what you want from the leader of your team and a guy who they’ve handed the keys to. He’s not demonstrated the kind of leadership that you want. And you have a young kid named [Emmanuel] Mudiay coming in who I think has a chance to be a star in this league. Right now the best player on the team is Ty Lawson. As a young player in the league, you come in 19-20 years old, you oftentimes try to emulate some of the actions on the floor and off the floor of the best player because that’s one day what you want to be. So I think just from the standpoint of the welfare of Mudiay and the well-being and the growth of Mudiay, you have to get Ty Lawson and you have to move him along.

By linsivvi Go To PostSo Josh Smith has now played for the currently two most hated teams. IWMTB are you ok?I think it's killing him. But on the plus side, if he performs well, it's because IWMTB was right about him all along and if not, he was right about the Clippers all along. There's always a silver lining.
