By KingGondo Go To PostThunder are sending Perry Jones, a second and cash to the Czzzzzzzz. Basically a tax relief move.
If he can stay healthy I like that move for the Czzzzz.
By Zeus Ex Machina Go To PostIf he can stay healthy I like that move for the Czzzzz.Health has never really been an issue for him. He's just not a very good basketball player.
breh
perry jones knees have been marked for death since high school. if he ever had to play real NBA minutes, he'd have died 2 years ago

I just remember he had a chance to shine when KD went down the first time and got injured himself and had knee surgery last summer.
By Moris Go To PostBird don't give a single fuck
straight tellin the face of the franchise that yeah, we like you but in actuality you ain't shit
Apparently we haven't offered Schved the room exception (which he would take) because we're saving it for summer league scrubs or some shit...
Was PJIII considered to be worth a 1st rounder, like, ever?
Maybe in 2009 during his senior year in high school?
Maybe in 2009 during his senior year in high school?
It's not shocking TP isn't aging well. He's been in the NBA since he was a teenager, and his style of game led to him getting fouled a lot. That and a lot international ball
By SamuraiX- Go To PostWas PJIII considered to be worth a 1st rounder, like, ever?If he had left after his freshman year at Baylor he was projected to go in the lottery iirc.
Maybe in 2009 during his senior year in high school?
He was good value for the end of the first round and he had his moments... but he's a much better athlete than basketball player.
By psychintellect Go To PostI have a suspicion that TP is lazy as fuck too.
Sigh.
I forgot the kind of shit one can read here.
The guy has been playing 110+ games every year since 1999 because of his involvement with France and the playoffs. Lots of players skip international ball, and he has played a shitton for so long (149 international games). The national team does not pay, so that's not what it's about. Keep your suspicions to yourself.
He averaged 18/7 per36 with injuries on still great shooting % (48/42). Of course he's not an MVP candidate.
He'll play with France in september. Good chance to win the Euro again, with Marc Gasol out. Hopefully it'll be the Gobert breakout everyone wants here.
By diehard Go To PostStockton @ 32Well yeah. He's possibly the best PG ever. Like CP3, though, lots of factors led to him not being able to get a ring.
14.7 / 12.3 / 2.4 on 60.7 eFG% and .233 WS/48
goddamn
By ratcliffja Go To PostWell yeah. He's possibly the best PG ever. Like CP3, though, lots of factors led to him not being able to get a ring.CP3 is just a choke artist and general fuckboy though. Stockton had to deal with GOAT teams and whatnot.
Lose out on DAJ and start pursuing the corpse of Samuel Dalembert, JaVale 'Shaqtin' A Fool Highlight Reel' McGee, and Ryan fucking Hollins.
Mavs, ya'll laust, but the fact these guys are even being considered means the Ls keep piling up.
Just take Zaza and fight back the tears. Hang on to the one thing you have left: your dignity.

The WIzards are not taking on stupid contracts these days, for one obvious reason.

I just don't see him being a total gym rat, health but that some athletes are in order to stay in peak shape and help offset the injuries.
Which is completely unfounded because I know nothing about his habits. He very well may be and just gets wrecked by all the minutes logged on his legs/ slightly injury prone/aggressive style of play. Just a hunch.

if he has a problem it is a sickness

like I said alcoholics don't make great life decisions
So the Thunder are sending Perry Jones and a second round draft pick to the Celtics for nothing in order to alleviate the luxury tax. That franchise is going to be in serious trouble if/when KD leaves.
By blackace Go To Postlike I said alcoholics don't make great life decisionsTrue. But it's just an explanation. Not an excuse.
Particularly for a guy who isn't short of a dollar.

By psychintellect Go To PostKeeping Perry Jones isn't helping the team if/when KD leaves.I'm talking about giving up a pick and a player just to alleviate the luxury tax that maxing Kanter caused, which in turn wouldn't have been necessary if they'd just maxed Harden a few years ago like everybody said they should.

To clarify, he expects that change to pass. Hasn't been voted on yet.

By ratcliffja Go To PostI'm talking about giving up a pick and a player just to alleviate the luxury tax that maxing Kanter caused, which in turn wouldn't have been necessary if they'd just maxed Harden a few years ago like everybody said they should. We wouldn't have needed salary or tax relief if we had maxed Harden two offseasons ago? We'd be approaching repeater status by now.
Besides, Perry Jones wasn't gonna play and trading him saved us a ton. Our roster is still deep and versatile.
@SpearsNBAYahoo Adam Silver says a "significant amount of teams" are still losing money in the NBA because their expenses exceed revenue.I don't know how anybody could seriously believe this. Or care. Owning a basketball team isn't Glen Taylor's primary business and he can write off the losses anyway.
Fuck, I wasn't ready for another lockout.
By KingGondo Go To PostWe wouldn't have needed salary or tax relief if we had maxed Harden two offseasons ago? We'd be approaching repeater status by now.I mean they can't seem to decide on their luxury tax status. They want to avoid dipping into it, which is why they didn't max Harden, but then they did dip into it when maxing Kanter, which seemed to indicate that they suddenly care more about trying to build a team around KD than they do about paying luxury tax... yet then they double back on that by cutting costs. They're sending a lot of conflicting messages.

I'd be shocked if more than 2 or 3 teams are legit losing money. And that's being lenient.

We'll likely be back under the tax next season even if KD re-signs to a max deal.
The Perry Jones thing is pure pragmatism. He wasn't going to play and he was gonna cost us way more than he was worth, so we dumped him for what we could.
By Mamba Go To PostElYeah, I really can't believe that anybody is seriously losing money anymore. Wasn't was of the primary purposes of the last lockout the aggressive revenue sharing? With that and the insane new TV deal, this is some straight bullshit.
