I forget, why did D-Will tell Cubes to kick rocks a couple off-season ago when he resigned with Brooklyn but was considering the Mavs?
Was it just money and bird rights?
Edit: quick Google search gave me this
lmfao oh Cubes
oh yeah, the Nets also pulled off the infamous Joe Johnson trade when Williams was considering his options
guess he liked JJ better than Dirk back then

Deron Williams told New York reporters Monday that Cuban's absence from the Mavs' free-agency pitch to the All-Star point guard "of course" impacted Williams' decision to re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets.http://espn.go.com/dallas/nba/story/_/id/8479445/brooklyn-nets-deron-williams-dallas-mavericks-free-agency-pitch-damaged-mark-cuban-absence
The Mavs sent coach Rick Carlisle, president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson and front office assistant/former Mavs star Michael Finley to New York to try to woo Williams, a native of Dallas suburb The Colony.
Cuban was in California taping episodes of the ABC show "Shark Tank" at the time.

They were literally using the phrase "turning back the clock" when DWill played well last year. In a few short years, he transformed from Chris Paul to old Jason Terry.

Apparently, based on current cap threshold projections, Warriors and Clippers are screwed even next season. Gonna be interesting for the Dubs since Harrison Barnes will be coming off his rookie deal and will prob be expecting close to max dollars.
I'm not sure if Warriors repeat this season. They haven't made any moves to get better besides acquiring the corpse of Gerald Wallace. I guess they haven't lost any key role players either though so there' probably a better chance than other teams that chipped and lost an important piece in the off-season.

GSW doesn't repeat for the simple fact that they literally had the perfect season last year. Combined with injuries on West Conf teams and injuries to the Cavs...it was a perfect storm.
The chip is the Spurs to lose in this upcoming season imo

You guys are making an argument that can be applied to every championship team of all time. It's a dumb argument.
Yep. Even if the Warriors don't repeat, there will be a number of ring chasing veterans willing to take less money and join them next summer since they will be a contender for seasons to come.

Not really.
They still had a historic season. They also had a perfect series of events happen along the way.
That 67-15 team with a +10 differential in the West sure got lucky, lol.
The Spurs need to rely on Duncan being the best 40 year old in NBA history next year and that's going to take some serious luck.

We're not saying GSW can't win this year because they had incredible injury luck last year, we're simply stating that to expect this team to have the same luck as they did last year is foolish and we should recalibrate expectations.
They're title contenders, and they'll win at least 55 games. They're probably not going to go 67-15 and only lose 4 times at home.
Are we really forgetting the champion are 67 win team, and their key player also can improve with experience in belt? okay, and they still have the most balanced and deep roster.

Not talking about them. They will be stacked and contenders for a long time.

While I don't know if they needed it is undeniable they had the best luck seen by a playoff team have in a long time.
Sub 40% career playoff shooter acquisition is supposed to push team over the top is pretty funny joke tho.
Before Kanter arrived, no Thunder center in the Oklahoma City era ever had recorded a 20-point, 10-rebound game. In 26 games with the Thunder, Kanter had 11

LMA was playing with an injured hand that needed surgery since January and then he injured that same hand in some other way in March. Dude was averaging 46% FG in four post-season appearances before this year.

The local media guys have to be supportive so the team will throw them a crumb every now and then.
"Good job Darnell, way to go defending the Harden trade for the last two years. By the way, we re-signed Kyle Singler."
Austin Rivers is re-signing with The Clips. Doc Rivers fucking up his own son's payday.

Rivers only took one year though. Prob wants to prove he's deserving of DEM MAX DOLLARS and a starting PG role in the league. Not many opportunities left for either in this off-season.
After he showed he could be a backup PG in this league in the playoffs.....if he's the Austin Rivers we know and feel indifferent about all season I doubt he gets better offers than he got this offseason (he was offered other multi year contracts but felt he could boost his stock further with The Clippers)
