By Dipro Go To Postdo we know if clippers begged or if DJ called them saying he had second thoughts.I would think the latter followed by the former. I can't imagine them randomly courting him unless he already expressed reservations. And that Boyz 2 Men video is amazing.
i heard both.
Had several back to back meetings. Get out and furiously reading through Slaent. This has been hilarious.
I guess DAJ finally figured out they were blowing smoke up his ass, he's leaving 30 million, heading to a worse team and all for dumb reasons

By Branduil Go To PostSuddenly the entire Clippers' existence makes sense as retrospective karma. That was fast.
The Mavs definitely need to sue the hell out of the Clippers if this actually happens. I mean, think of the precedent. A team could basically conspire to destroy any rival team by having one of their free agents "commit" to that team, and then "change their mind" at the last second. It would be disastrous.

This has happened before and no one sued anyone else.

sue for what? it's illegal to sign anyone before the due date, verbal commitment is all you can get.
FA can change their minds at any time.
By Dipro Go To Postsue for what? it's illegal to sign anyone before the due date, verbal commitment is all you can get.Sue for basically destroying the value of the franchise. The Mavs could have pursued multiple different options, that are all gone now. This opens the door for exactly what I just mentioned, teams conspiring to destroy other teams in free agency through deception.

By Forever Go To PostJust put my cat to sleep.
Cried a lot, but less than I thought I would. She had a long good life and went peacefully.
Bro I have two cats that are over 12 so I'm not looking forward to when it's their time. Hope you are doing o . Side note, thr coworker I hated most my entire life hated cats and dogs. I don't trust people that don't like at least one of the species that we have made our pets. Wouldn't surprise me if he is a serial killer

Why is everyone acting like this has never happened before???? Antonio McDyess did it, Jason Kidd did it and now DAJ is doing it. There are no grounds for suing or being outraged since the CBA expressly forbids any binding contract being held during this period so they can get the salary cap set correctly.

wait you can't sue for hurt feelings?
By blackace Go To Postwait you can't sue for hurt feelings? If you could, thekad and Smokey would've sued Lillard last year.
Still surprised that Pierce signed with the Clippers. He's gonna be beat up by the time playoffs come around and barring injuries idk if the Clippers make it to the second round.
Might have a legitimate shit at the ECF with Washington.

some states like california recognizes oral agreements as legally binding.
you can take that to court for grounds for breach of contracts, just saying.

Even if Dallas has a contract with the NBA that clearly states nothing is binding until they sign the player?
21 is ancient for a cat. Sorry to hear Forever. I've lost about 4 now. Oldest right now is 16 and still pretty strong but limps a bit and I can tell her sight is goin'.
By blackace Go To PostEven if Dallas has a contract with the NBA that clearly states nothing is binding until they sign the player?oh this is totally different. Dallas doesn't have grounds on this matter.
the rules makes it very clear no contracts are binding until july 9th and that oral agreements aren't binding.
They are royally fucked if Deandre goes back.
Isn't there an NBA constitution where players/teams cant sue each other?
i recall hearing about that once.
the only thing that gets me is the way pierce joined the clips despite knowing the DAJ situation wasn't resolved, then you hear DAJ signed with the mavs and didn't really get much of a reaction from the clips.....now DAJ on his way back..shit a little suspect..
By K@do Go To PostIsn't there an NBA constitution where players/teams cant sue each other?I imagine there is some kind of stipulation that all disagreements between parties would be handled in-house because the last thing any league needs is infighting and litigation in public court.
here's the nba constiutions and the by-laws.

someone go read all 92pgs to see if there's grounds for legal actions on Cuban's part.

There are no grounds for suing or being outraged since the CBA expressly forbids any binding contract being held during this period so they can get the salary cap set correctly. The problem with these examples is that if you look back and look more closely...
Antonio Mcdyess (1999) - Mcdyess started showing second thoughts within 24 hours after agreeing with Denver and that led to Phoenix's staff fighting to get him back... even though Mcdyess said meh and decided to sign with Denver 24 hours later anyway, so that lasted all of 48 hours
Hedo Turkoglu (2009) - changed his mind literally overnight, within the span of several hours; Portland knew within 24 hours that they got fucked
Jason Kidd (2012) - never actually came to a verbal agreement with the Mavs, were still in deliberations with contract talks when he decided to bolt for New York
DumbAndre made a verbal commitment with the Mavs LAST FRIDAY (over 100 hours ago) and just today we hear about him potentially bailing - the DAY OF the end of the FA moratorium. Granted, his second thoughts apparently started on Monday night, but nothing was ever serious until now. To renege on an all-but-done verbal agreement after so much time has elapsed is unprecedented and shows that DAJ probably doesn't have a single vertebra in his fucking body.
By blackace Go To Postshit didn't Billy Donovan do worse to the Magic?
Which lead to SVG not agreeing to coach the Kings so he could go to Orlando, which lead to a string of terrible King coaches.
