but he did pretty much say it wouldn't happen...
Only if Duncan and green combine for like $10-12 million. Green wants $10 million, supposedly. And this also means Belli walks.
Duncan basically has to sign for little money to make this work. Which, I guess, he may. But that's the only way this works. I have a hard time seeing Green, LMA, Diaw, and Mills all being there with Duncan and Manu, otherwise.
Most likely, Green walks to sign LMA. My inclination is to believe LMA will be a Spur at this point, but it will likely require dumping Green, Splitter, and Belli.
Or maybe LMA takes a 1 year deal (2 year with opt out) for less money and gets a super-max next year with them. That's always in play.
Okay, let's do the math completely because you're not getting it at all.
If they trade Splitter for nothingβ¦
They have $25,659,326 in guaranteed contracts for Parker, Diaw, Mills, and Anderson.
Then there are $14,882,648 in holds for Green and Leonard. Also about $1 million for the 26th pick.
Minimum roster holds 5 (12 minus 4 players and 3 cap holds = 5) = $2,625,465
Total is: $43,167,439
Salary Cap is projected at $67,100,000
LMA's max contract is $18,900,000
That totals $62,067,439.
That means Duncan has to sign for $5 million or less for it to work this way. They HAVE TO renounce Duncan's rights OR come to terms with him before signing anyone else because his cap hold is over $15 million.
If they sign him for $7 million, they have to trade someone or let someone walk.
The issue isn't signing Green, per se. The problem is they HAVE to sign Duncan before signing Aldridge. And if Duncan signs for anything above $5 million, they have to do more shit to keep Green unless he takes his cap hold, hence why I said "Only if Duncan and green combine for like $10-12 million"
edit: Maybe this will be easier. Duncan and LMA have to combine for less than $24 million.
And there are like 3 more post like this... He knows his stuff.. but he wasn't right about this...
"Duncan basically has to sign for little money to make this work. Which, I guess, he may. But that's the only way this works. I have a hard time seeing Green, LMA, Diaw, and Mills all being there with Duncan and Manu, otherwise."
This is happening. I don't get how he was wrong.
Newest cap projections put it a little higher but Duncan will have to sign before others, and take about $5 mil.

Was hearing TD was about 6 mil and LMA signed for 4 years all things that he implied wouldn't happen but did... Sure his math was right but he made it sound roll eyes to think it would happen...

He got the math right. But he said he didn't think it would happen because Duncan, Green wouldn't take that little. They did.

He still clearly understands the cap stuff though, just made incorrect assumptions about the kind of money Duncan and Green would be comfortable taking.
Kevin Pelton @kpelton
It's probably not a coincidence that the Jazz waited to sign Trey Lyles until shortly after the Warriors traded David Lee.
Kevin Pelton β@kpelton
Depending on the cap, the Jazz might've been able to fit Lee's salary by merely cutting Trevor Booker with Lyles' smaller hold.
Imagine cutting Booker to trade for Lee
I've said it before, I'll say it again. Trading for Kawhi resurrected the Spurs and TD's career. It's a top 5 FO move in the last 5 years.
They were a middling team from 2009-2011 and the window for their core was closing shut until they drafted Kawhi. Made the CF in year 1, and two consecutive finals, and I have to believe his presence was a huge reason that LMA was willing to bet the next 4 years of his career

By diehard Go To PostWhich brings us all back to
"But Mamba said it couldn't be done"
which is incorrect.
not really... he basically stated it wouldn't happen for money reasons. Saying that they basically couldn't make the team they have now because players wouldn't take the paycuts
Saying you don't think it will happen is not the same as saying it couldn't be done, especially when in your original argument you lay out a plan where it can get done. I don't know how else to say it.
The Lyes thing was never about David Lee. I think Pelton is just making things up.
Lyles agreed to the full 120 percent that he was allowed to receive today, or $2,239,800. So by not agreeing to a deal until Tuesday, the Jazz were able to preserve $373,300 on their cap sheet, allowing them a bit more maneuverability in the early stages of free agency.

Jazz got to the salary floor and 5 picks for that deal, it was good for them.
Wait, didnt we use that pick to take Rodney Hood? Shit if thats doing GSW a favor lets keep doing favors.

By Vahagn Go To PostC'mon Knicks Slaent. Don't defend this. There's a Chance Porzingis isn't a bust. But it's all fantasies at this point.
He's got the highest bust potential of any of the top 5 picks, anything, no matter how minor, that slows his development is a problem since he's already 2 years away from being 2 years away
Nobody's defending anything.
Story going online now: ESPN sources say Clippers lobbying DeAndre Jordan to reverse his decision to join Dallas and stay in LA with Clips
The Clippers are so out of options that they're just going to beg DeAndre, on their hands and knees, to come back.
By IWMTB19 Go To PostThe Clippers are so out of options that they're just going to beg DeAndre, on their hands and knees, to come back.I can't tell you how delicious this is.
Actually yes I can. This is great.
This sounds like Balmer's doin gthough
RT @AminESPN: When Doc calls DJ, will Keith Sweat be playing in the background? Or will he go more modern with Robin Thicke album "Paula"?
I don't know who looks worse.
Lakeshow begging for meetings with Lamarcus just to keep hearing thanks, but no thanks.
or
Doc and the boys acting like a scorned jumpoff after her man told her it wasn't real

Not a good look. Seriously.
This is embarrassing, and reminds me of the Clips of yore.
Take the L and move on, brehs.

Girl: I hate your personality, we were on a break, and this new guy is nicer to me, I'm leaving you.
Guy: Fine, leave!
*One week later*
Guy: How can you just leave me like that and forget all the times we had together?

I mean it's just a verbal agreement. I've taken job and hours realized it wasn't what I wanted. DJ should be allowed to change his mind. But I'd rather he goes to Dallas because it makes both of those irrelevant.
Key component in Clippers' attempt to change DeAndre Jordan's mind: they weren't happy w/ how Mavs recruited in 1st place, soβ¦War of Roses
????
Dudes, CP3 wouldn't even return DAJ's calls, you guys just suck.
DJ's a buster if he goes back though. Hell, he's a buster even for agreeing to listen to the Clippers again.
Reneging on your word (even if it isn't official) to join a team after the free agency market for his position has gone to shit is a bad look.
But I want to know who was the guy who had to come get CP3 up off that banana boat with Bron to recruit this dude who he clearly hates.

Doc told DJ they didn't know he wanted bigger role. LA offering to hire big man coach & increase DJ's touches.
"We'll give you anything you want, we're sorry, DJ! Just don't leave me!"

But I'd rather he goes to Dallas because it makes both of those irrelevant.I agree, but one major difference here is that it REALLY screws over Dallas who couldn't get a free agent anymore if this were the case. As much as I would love to have DJ back, I think they should have done all this from the beginning. Always assume that every free agent wants to leave instead of just assuming everything's fine.
Dallas said they were going to tank if they didn't get their guy. This reversal would have major fallout.
Going back to DeAndre? Clippers acting like a little fuckboy that don't care about the emotional investment of their partner and only has them for sex. DeAndre don't go back, that relationship is toxic.

Yes... Chris Paul* has been pushing for this.

DeAndre don't go back, that relationship is toxic. It's more like a guy who doesn't want to go to the ballet or see his girl's movies because he thinks she'll never leave and then feels hurt when some guy lures her away with some R&B song saying things like "I'll treat you right."
Edit: Of course CP3 is pushing hard. He's the main one who neglected DJ in the first place and suddenly realized how screwed he'd be without him.
Yea this has a lot of unintended consequences.....could ensure bottom 3 LA pick. I'm ok with DeAndre's decision in either direction, but this is pretty bush league shit.
