By Forever Go To PostAt what point do the Lakers start thinking about trading Russell for Okafor?
Why would they do that?
By linsivvi Go To PostMore like wrong strategy. You can't always go for home runs. While you wait for the max contract free agents, which are unlikely to come to begin with, all the mid level guys are being signed elsewhere.Yeah sounds like with the current roster management needs a new strategy. Since yeah the current one is get a big name max player and worry about the rest of the roster later. Though to be fair it usually works since 1 home run usually brings everyone to LA. In which case here's to hoping Russell and or Randle reach that level.
The allure of LA isn't enough anymore without anyone else to play with. Gonna need the young guys to develop and somewhat quickly to convince any big star to come to the Lakers. If/when that happens then mid level guys will come in droves.

None of the free agents this summer are worth attempting a home run for. They should've loaded up the team with mid-level vets that can help the young guys develop.

And underrated aspect of not completely blowing everything up, is having vets around. Good vets. Guys who are genuine character guys and can help rooks get into a training pattern. Not get busted drink driving and all that shit. Uphold team culture. And go to a club with them and keep them from total skeeze.

The Sacramento Kings will begin discussions with free agents Josh Smith and Lou Williams today, according to league sources.

Oh my god
By thekad Go To PostOh my godBetcha gold coins they'll sign Josh Smith.
By thekad Go To PostOh my godMight as well welcome JR and Nick Young too
By pilonv1 Go To PostA Rondo, Ellis, Gay, Smith and Cousins lineup would have been hot fire. Damn you Pacers.
If the replace Ellis with JR that line up would be even more fire though.......
Do it Vivek
By thekad Go To PostWhat about Rondo/Brewer/Gay/Smith/Cousins? Does that team break 50 points vs the Warriors?Better question is that team even last before half time until riot happened at their own side
That lineup couldn't finish a game without someone ending up in a hospital bed with a shank in the gut.
Trey Burke not in Summer League after he realized he would have been 4th on the depth chart, currently crying in a glass box of emotion.
Note: Only one of these things is certainly true.

third year players only go to summer league due to shame or injury doe
wiz trying to move nene---eh, nene is family. either send him to a contender or let him finish it out here. huge part of turning the culture.
So, it's 10:45 central time. Where does everyone on the board legit think LMA end up? I'm still thinking it's the Spurs

It's the Spurs.

By IWMTB19 Go To PostThat feeling when you realize that the Bucks traded the 5th pick in the 2016 draft for MCWβ¦No, they swapped out Brandon Knight for Carter-Williams. They didn't own that Lakers pick.

At this point I just want mediocre vets to keep the peace, teach the younger guys and not take up minutes or win games.
Jordan Hill was a good lockerroom guy for LA, Booz too. I worry JHill might add a few wins to the team tho.
By Grover Cleveland Go To PostMultiple Sources saying Knickerbockers meeting with Derrick Williams and Corey Brewer in LA today
The good news about fielding a d league team with Bargnani being your most talented player is that almost any FA signing is a step up.
Phil avoiding the Rondos of the world or making panic trades for D Will. Already the best GM Knicks have had in 20 years
By D'Moris Russell Go To PostIt's not like that β¦.bottom 3 teams got between 45-60% shot at bottom 3. The alternatives for LA are less desirable IMO.
It wouldn't be a bad year to get a top three pick. From a Freshman perspective, the upcoming draft is going to be stacked with C/PF's
By rodeoclown Go To PostNo, they swapped out Brandon Knight for Carter-Williams. They didn't own that Lakers pick.
They could have just traded Brandon Knight for the Lakers pick, but instead they rerouted it to the 76ers for MCW. They decided they wanted MCW over the pick which is really just horrible in hindsight.

I'm still thinking it's the SpursHe's going to your team and Duncan will play 20 mins a game and rest on back-to-backs and the NBA Finals next season will be boring as hell since the real Final will be in the West.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Posthinkie really should be getting free agents now though lolI figure they'll get over the salary floor with another deal like taking on Danny Granger's contract. They want to suck next year.

Labissiere could be Karl Towns 2.0
Ben Simmons is a 6'10" small forward who basically does everything
Jaylen Brown 3&D SF who could maybe be a good all around scorer soon
Brandon Ingram could be a poor man's KD
Mitch please, just tank
As an aside from all the free agency talk, I'd like to post some fan-made concepts that made me curse David Stern's soul to hell and back.
So where do the Mavs go when Jordan resigns with LA?
Koufas and Beverly? Koufas and Cory Joseph?
Heck where do they go if they did sign Jordan. Guy needs a pick and roll partner.

Ivan Rabb is going to be a beast too. Saw him play last year.
Interesting that Pop wanted another meeting. I'm sort of having doubts now about LMA going there. Except they're the only ones that makes sense aside from the Rockets who haven't been mentioned at all.

its hard to say without knowing any context. for all we know, Pop might have ended the first meeting by saying "go and see you options and let's meet up afterwards to clear up any questions you have."
@JaredZwerlingone of these lucky teams.
