So Kevin Ding, he who is probably most tapped into the Lakers Front Office and team, says that Buss and Mitch aren't sold on Rondo and definitely would not pay a ton for him (I guess that means max). Also, they have other priorities over signing Rondo. The Rumors about the Lakers wanting Rondo are from his agent and not LA's side.
He does mention the Lakers are willing to sign Rondo, so he's not out of the picture, but at least he's not considered one of their main pieces to get and he if they did, it would be for a low price (whatever that means).
Basically, they're not anti or pro-Rondo.

I'm fine with the Raptors keeping their team and coach together (other than DeRozan, fuck that guy). They were great to start the year and they have a lot of talent. They need Lowry and Amir healthy and they need Valanciunas to learn how to defend and none may happen, but it's best just to roll the dice to see if they can get those things to happen. If they can, I think they'll do really well next year.

I'd give up Ross at this point, ever since playoffs last year he's been off. It's too bad too, he has potential, otherwise he wouldn't have tied Vince Carter's 51 points in a game.
I don't have problems with DeRozan but he needs to be better going forward next year. Overall, the team needs to be more consistent than they have been.
A lot of people are angry at the Raptors, but honestly, you need to fail in order to succeed. Maybe the team collectively needs this in order to perform better next year.

Don;t leave out the quote
But what should be made clear, according to team sources, is that Buss is not the believer he was earlier in the season when it comes to Rondo, and Kupchak is toting enough healthy skepticism that he sees Rondo as value only at a certain low price.
Oh pls God, let someone 'out-bid' LA's low price on Rondo.
also Kevin Ding looks like every non-black character I've made in NBA 2k MyPlayer
Pierce attending the Stanley Cup Playoffs.....can't help but feel this is still a sly diss towards Toronto.
Kevin Ding seems adamant that LA is gonna spend that money on someone and Mitch said in his exit interview that having money to spend this offseason and next (when everyone will have money) is one of the only advantages LA has at the moment.
Max money Deandre Jordan or 12mil a year Kosta Koufos is gonna happen...it's not as painful as Max Rondo, but it's close.

By diehard Go To PostLowe suggesting Batum to the Jazz for a first round pick is strange.
Our wing situation is pretty OK really, it's our PGs that are garbage right now, bizarre suggestion. I hope we use the pick on Myles Turner.

Max Money D. Jordan isn't that bad of a move. It hurts the clippers (though I think they will recover) and hey Kobe will have somebody new to yell "get the fucking rebound too" who actually is ok with just getting it.
Not sure if it's been said or not, but I'm betting on the Knicks trading their lottery pick this season.
They don't really have the time to wait and let a big develop in the next 4 years. Cousins to NY maybe?

They either need to go all in (a mistake I think) or really start from scratch (ditch lengthy contracts see: Melo), riding the fence like it seems they're gonna do is just gonna waste time.

Its too early to tell what the plan is but no way do they trade Melo now.

What about Lowry?
The Knicks are definately at a tough crossroads. They need their pick to be borderline great from jump...or else they are just going to be pretty stagnant.
I'd shop Melo and try to just start over. However, that means more seasons like this one and I don't think they want that either...shit, I'm a ghost right now after our two (soon to be three) years of tanking and this came after a decade of asking for it. Shit is no joke.
So my bet is that they draft a guy, hope he is legit and they make due with being a fringe playoff team with Melo and get some experience and hope he is good enough to attract FAs when Melo rides off into the sunset. Being a treadmill is fine as long as you have young talent that can attract good FAs down the line. The Sixers and Bobcats of old (and currently...wrrrryy) didn't have that. Young up and coming star plus new york plus money is a nice sell.
Of course, that means they can't fuck this pick up either,.....

NY's future more than any other team rides on picking the right guy in this draft. Ending up with Baby Al Jefferson + Melo for 4 seasons could be murder.
It depends on the FA as well. I think its clear the plan is to build through FA. The knicks will have over 20 mil to spend 3 years in a row. If they can get LMA who is a legit star & a pick who has legit potential to develop into something great over that time period even better.
A Towns/LMA/Melo/3&D SG/Galloway Offseason would be perfect but other combinations of that would likely accomplish the same goal. Be a playoff team in 2016, and build from there using the cap raise, then repeat again in 2017 with the goal of 2 years of legit contention in 2018/2019.

NY can be a playoff team without hitting a homerrun in FA I think, but they won't be contending with Melo, especially not a 35 year old Melo in 18/19

The knicks FO are probably a lot more liberal with their time table
Who can say what a team will look like in 3-4 seasons but Old Melo taking up like 20% of your cap is gonna be a hurdle.
edit: fuckin beaten by seconds.

They don't need to contend yet..and they won't. They just need to have whoever the fuck they draft this year be legit and good enough to attract stars whenever Melo finally leaves. More than likely they will draft a 19 year old kid, so they can wait a bit.

Wait, why do you hate DeRozan?
By reilo Go To PostNext Brandon Roy, Trax said. Next Brandon Roy. That fucking guy.Rodney Hood will be Brandon Roy - light.
Yeah, but outside lowry, the team is full of poor shooters.
I dunno, DeRozan seems like a good player to me. Plays both ends. Good at getting to the line. Reminds me of young wade somewhat.

DeMar's best shooting season would be one of Wade's worst. He's wade in the way he can't shoot a 3 (even worse actually) but Wade's mid range game is far inferior.
Through his first 6 seasons Wade got to the line almost twice as often.

The Jazz are were I wish the Sixers would be...
come on bruh both Noel and Embiid are prospects and only a couple months before you have at least 3. I like Covington too.
I worry about Embiid and Noel's fit and Hinkie's seemingly major addicition to draft picks makes it so no one is safe.
I'll be a lot happier after the draft and Hinkie actually takes a guy I get to see play

Noel + Mudiay should be pretty fun to watch develop....Embiid might not be long for this league with that bum foot tho.
Roy was a super athlete with a lightning quick first step. And that hesitation dribble meant he could get a shot off whenever he wanted.
Hood is a bit different.

By Branduil Go To PostJust gonna predict the Mavs' next starting PG will be Jeremy Lin.
That's a solid option really. He can penetrate and shoot the 3 well. If he can't succeed there, he just doesn't belong as a starter in the NBA.

He can play with the right coach. He's just a ball dominant PG that needs to rework and regain his confidence.
Ellis is pretty ball dominant so I don't know if that's a good combo but it could work. I still have faith in Lin.
He doesn't have to be a starter and can work well as a 6th man.
