Kris Dunn already went back to school. Literally the only player in the draft that I wanted. All we need to do is now draft Dekker and I'm ready to become a Nuggs fans
By Moris Go To PostI've talked myself into every player projected 1-7 except Mudiay…..I know I know, don't tell me Knux.
If yall truly believe in Clarkson, I think Mudiay would probably not be the best choice, I have enough faith in Mitch that he'd look elsewhere

Clarkson regressing next season is totally a possibility....I'd still not want to go the Mudiay route in that case.
By rodeoclown Go To PostI don't agree. He doesn't shoot, pass or defend as well as Towns does. Especially the defense part. If somebody wins the lottery and takes Okafor first, they have messed up.
He going to be a 20/10 guy in the NBA. You can cover up his bad defense
Damn DY so damn broken, can he be fixed?
Okafor playing bad D at Center can make it extremely hard to build a contender around. You'd need an elite defender at PF.....tall order.
Towns would be much easier to build around since he could also be a 20/10 guy while also playing elite defense. He's got the higher ceiling.
Minny/LA/6ers/Knicks ....well maybe not New York.....aren't in Win-now mode so taking the guy who has more potential makes sense especially since Towns floor isn't that low

idk I think Clarkson has real potential if he's coached and developed properly.
When Morris had the mock 2014 SL&ENT Draft and I saw that San Antonio missed out on Kyle Anderson and Clint Capella, I thought Clarkson was the next best choice. Hate that the Lakers have him but he just needs more experience and less fuckball.

I'm high on Clarkson AND I don't want Mudiay. His game scares me, looks really raw at almost everything.
By knux-future Go To PostAllegedly Hinkie wants Russell.
oh lawd pls
You mean he wants Russ @ #3, would he go after Okafor if he gets #2?
Okafor falling to 3rd would be interesting
We really don't need Okafor. He doesn't fit with either of our bigs. I like him as a player tho just not sure about his fit with us at the moment tho

Looking through that Mock draft from last year, Shun reall did call that Clarkson pick
Like Embiid and Noel ain't on the trading block.

I wish my Celtics trade for Noel..Give the Sixer's Olynk, Zeller and a first round.
You can cover Jahlil bad defense by putting good defenders around him.

Noel is less effective defensively as a PF.
Defense at C is just too vital, Oka needs to at least become average on D to have success, there's no covering him up.

By giririsss Go To PostNoel had on OK season. But was it so good that you wouldn't trade him?I'd trade him for Towns because Towns is a better fit with Embiid. Okafor fits with neither. Of course doing anything because of Embiid, a guy who hasn't played yet with injury issues is silly in its own right. I just want to start actually building a team at this point. Hinkie for all his moves and picks...only really has one guy that we know can play and who might be here in a few years...that's Noel, who despite his godlike stretch there, I still am not super sold on (like Moris said, I think playing PF takes away from a lot of what he can do) but at least he has a pulse and is a real person.
So its moreso that I am tired of the constant reset that trading Noel would mean. I'd much rather trade Embiid at this point because of it (thank god I am not the GM tho as that would be rather stupid).
I am okay with taking any of the proposed top 4...Okafor the least so because I feel it would require further restructuring. I'm not about that life anymore.
Whats scary is that Mudiay/Russell and below could very well be busts......very scary. Oka should at least be able to score at the NBA level, Towns will at very least be a defensive role player....everyone else could be in China in a couple years.
Russell's jumpshot should keep him around for a while. Mudiay will exist due to his size and "potential" until he is 25. But for top 5 picks...hell yeah. I hate to judge dudes based off of schools but Russell occasionally gives me Evan Turner vibes. His jumper should help but still....
Shooting is all Jimmer can do, though. Russell passes and rebounds well for a guard. He should pan out, he does too much stuff.

Wes Johnson did it all too.
Towns looks like the only sure thing followed by Oka who may end up like the 4th or 5th best player ....jus saying the draft is a scary place.
By Moris Go To PostWes Johnson did it all too.Actually, having studied this a lot, wondering how Kahn possibly picked him ahead of dudes like Cousins, Wes didn't really do it all. His first like two months at Cuse were good (as a 23 year old playing teenagers) and then he floundered the rest of the way and had a particularly lousy tournament.
When he did the combine and workouts, people talked themselves into him. I still remember the Wolves video of him just shooting jumpers in an empty gym and how impressed people were. Because that's impressive when you're tall and well built, I guess.
By RBK Go To PostNo you can't Kuma, sorry.Al Jefferson was playing center for a top 5 defense last year. Its possible to have a good defense around a liability at center but it shouldn't be a thing that you willingly hop into.
If you have any examples though, I'll like to hear it.
By knux-future Go To PostI think Okafor defensive issues are more of an effort thing than a legit can't play defense thing. Its possible. Just really hard to tell these days because kids couldn't give less of a fuck about college seasons when they're committed to the 1-and-done lifestyle.
I really like Russell though.... left handed, great shooting and passing ability, can iso drive and draws fouls... The only real knock against him is defense and conditioning and I feel the defense suffers because he is playing pointguards defensively and once he gets in a NBA gym I think he'll prosper.
His biggest knock is being non-athletic. If he had lift, a good top-speed and/or an above average first step he would be in the convo for #1 overall.
I think a lot of people see Brandon Roy in Russell but forget that Roy was also a hell of an athlete
yeah everytime I see anyone get compared to Roy, I swear people forgot that dude could and would yam on you before his knees went to Pluto
By psychintellect Go To PostFluid?Mayo never got any better since he came into league because he's predictable, robotic, and generally not dynamic on the floor. He's a stiff, and he shouldn't be. Its crazy.
By DY_nasty Go To PostI think a lot of people see Brandon Roy in Russell but forget that Roy was also a hell of an athleteRoy was sneaky quick and had amazing body control once in the air. His first step was also legendary.
By KumaJG Go To PostI think Russell can be a more fluid Monta EllisHe doesn't have anything remotely close to the speed of Ellis. And Ellis is so damned fluid he leaves a mess lol. I DO like Russell I just have a hard time seeing him as the no-brainer #3 pick all things considered.
By reilo Go To PostRoy was sneaky quick and had amazing body control once in the air. His first step was also legendary.
From what I've seen Russell does have a third gear sneak speed which is why he seems able to draw so many fouls.
I mean yeah. Dude understands change of pace and stuff way better than a lot of young guards. I think his skill set is solid.
but if winslow beasts the workouts i wouldn't be shocked at all if russell slips a bit

Brandon Roy was so damn good... I used to abuse him 2k8/2k9 along side Greg Oden lol.
Winslow going to be solid. I think his defense can reach MKG level.

By RBK Go To PostI don't think Big Al plays C on defense…isn't that Bismack's job?Biyombo and Al have literally never been on the floor at the same time. It's stupid, I know.
