By Diprosalic Go To PostMessina is gonna take over for Pop.You don't think he'd jump at the opportunity to coach OKC right now? He's in his 50s, he can't wait forever for Pop to retire.
By Omega Go To PostYou don't have anything to worry about.Phil is not touching Rondo with a 10 foot pole.
It's either LA or NY. LA because he was supposed to sign a max there before he threw away tens of millions and NY because we're the only people dumb enough to still offer him a max.
Birdman is a crazy motherfucker:

By KingGondo Go To PostHim and KD are tight. They like each other and they like playing with each other.
Since when? It's nothing more than a "working" relationship, it's been well documented that Durant was closest to Harden and I think even Ibaka over Westbrook.
never saw much of westbrook at ucla
kind of interested in watching some old games to see how he dealt with dat court spacing

By masud Go To PostOllie would be dumb to leave Uconn . He could probably work there till he's 80 and get a statue when he retires. I doubt he coaches OKC for more than 5 years.
Dumb to leave UCONN and college when an opening in the NBA for a coaching job that includes players like Durant and Westbrook? HOw many times in his life do you think he'll get an opportunity to coach players like that in the NBA without having to build? He can go back to college any time he wants and is young enough to stay long enough for a statue if he went back.
By linsivvi Go To PostIf Rondo signs with the Lakers Mitch will be on my shit list forever.
Forever.
If he signs him for the rumored max .... forever isn't long enough.

At UConn... he's got a 100% approval rating, a school that recruits itself, and an AD willing to write blank checks. That's a dream job. Its a better situation than Howland and Rick Barnes had. Ollie is literally on a modern day Coach K trajectory.
Yeah, can't lie. The weird landscape that is US college sports.... getting almost a life time job as a head coach would be pretty sweet. Less pressure than an NBA gig, but a minor celebrity in your own right. The pay aint bad either.
And every now and then a cheer leader with daddy issues?
life could be a lot worse.

That's why I said he's young enough to go back to college if it didn't work out. Maybe he loses one, or both or none of the durant / westbrook combo. It still doesn't change the fact that coaching gigs in the NBA don't just present themselves with rosters like the one OKC currently enjoys. Durant is, by many, still one of the corner stone players in the NBA. It's just too juicy IMO.
For all I know Ollie could be comfortable and enjoy the random cheerleader with daddy issues enough. But if I wanted to elevate my career it would be to the NBA. An this is a good opportunity if he so chooses.

If you're lucky it can work like that in the NFL but even then you have to walk into a perfect situation twice. No big name school in the country loves their coach more than UConn loves Ollie right now.
Ollie would be leaving THE dream job for a high-pressure win-now scenario in a tough conference where his two best players might not even be around after two years. I mean... Donovan making that leap I can see (because Cal has hijacked his pipeline recruits and if he flames out he'd be in a Rick Pitino situation able to pick his landing spot).
By Fenderputty Go To PostIf he signs him for the rumored max …. forever isn't long enough.I'm pretty sure there's zero chance anyone signs him to a max now.

I guess it's a high risk stressful job for some and an opportunity for others. If you're a competitive person wanting to elevate your career I'm not sure you care. You take the challenge or opportunity or whatever.

It would be hilarious if the Lakers walked away from Tankapalooza 2015 with the 27th pick and Max Rondo.
Adam Wexler @awexler
#NBA just determined draft tiebreakers. Dal gets 21, CHI 22. Mem gets 25, SA 26. Hou gets 27, LAC 28. #Rockets pick goes to LAL (Lin).

By RBK Go To PostThey still have their potential top 5 pick. They can lose it if two teams pass them up and they fall to 6.
They'll be alright.
They won't tho. Mitch would kill Silver
Riley may know where the bodies are buried, but Mitch put them there.
The 27th pick was free. Got it for nothing along with our back up PG for the year (Lin). That trade was amazing for LA, can't spin it as a loss.

We got a back-up PG and the 27th pick for Sergei Lishchuk. We will probably draft trash with the pick, but there are 2 or 3 solid prospects at 27 and beyond every draft, the chance to get a good piece is enough to take on Lin who was the type of palyer LA was looking for anyway.

If neither team wins the lottery, the Pacers will pick 11th, the Jazz will pick 12th in the 2015 NBA Draft
Anybody know of a place with lottery odds. Wiki has a good table, but I have to do a bunch of math I don't want to do to figure out our chances at a #1-3 pick or our chances at falling to #6 and losing our pick.

Odds on where the Lakers end with the NBA’s fourth worst record:
1st pick (11.9%)
2nd pick (12.6%)
3rd pick (13.3%)
4th pick (9.9%)
5th pick (35.1%)
6th+ pick (17.2%)
odds on keeping top five pick (82.8%)
37.8% shot at Top 3
17.2% chance of losing the pick
Thanks Morris. I was doing the math and then was like fuck this shit I don't want to figure out the odds of each team behind us sliding in front twice lol. The 82.8% number is what I'm interested in. I had figured the 37.8% number from Wiki.

i actually wouldn't mind that too much if it would happen. makes for a more interesting rivalry.
the drama would be good tho.

By KumaJG Go To PostJahlil should go number 1I don't agree. He doesn't shoot, pass or defend as well as Towns does. Especially the defense part. If somebody wins the lottery and takes Okafor first, they have messed up.

There was no other way the 2013 draft could've ended except for the Wolves taking home Shabazz after all the mess I talked about him.

Towns went #1 to Minny, Knicks got Okafor and then 6ers picked Mudiay.
I was damn near moonwalkin' in my sleep.
Already talking myself into Mudiay, I'm ready for every outcome, Lottery Gods.
