By alt sy Go To PostChapter 6
I think I got the good ending.
Fighting Micah, then being left to die peacefully at the top of that mountain/hill.
I peeped the others on YouTube, glad I didn’t get either of them. Ain’t nobody want to go out that way, sheesh

epilogue time. Also got the "good" ending.
john is so fucking skinny lmao
0 interest in playing this epilogue.

the whole chapter 6 was setting it up to play as Sadie, wtf is this farmer john shit? God why didn't Rockstar give me an option to play as Arthur pre sickness and finish up the side missions? fuck I'm glad I saved but I'm probably gonna do a new game and get to like chapter 4 or something.

They're a decent setup and show you what happened to alot of characters. You'll see Sadie again :P
i don't know if ill finish the epilogue but overall I'd score RDR2 a high 6/low 7/10.
+Most impressive open world ever. Visuals, weather effects, wildlife and how arthur interacts with everything, all top notch.
+While "scripted", rockstar throws an insane amount of "random" events and encounters at you. It's hard to ride from one place to another without noticing smoke from a camp in the distance, seeing someone on the side of a river and wanting to know what's up with them, wildlife attacking you, stranger missions etc. For the most part they all play out the same for everyone but that doesn't bother me or ruin the illusion. There's an insane amount of these events and it leaves me constantly impressed. It's the most convincing "living" open world ever, it was very hard for me to only play 30 minutes of this, insanely easy to get distracted and lost in the world. It almost sends a chill down my spine thinking of what Rockstar will achieve with GTA 6.
+I enjoyed the plot even though I only cared about like 3 characters out of the main cast. It's not subtle at all but I really enjoyed Arthur's character arc in chapter 6, especially some of the optional missions and dialogue that reveal a ton about him, it is unfortunate that a lot of this is completely missable though.
+beard and hair growth is always awesome.
+Insane production values(8 years and a shit ton of money and talent). It's a massive open world with the visual details and care you'd find in a Naughty Dog game. Crazy.
+I usually hate Horse traversal but this was pretty good
-shit controls
-chapter 5
-shit mission design
-shit epilogue
-shit fast travel
WIll try out the online whenever it's up and in a not broken state.

Would go for an 8 or 9.
Really well done prequel that outshines the original title by quite a margin in nearly every aspect. Writing (connection between the first and the 2nd and the character growth are wonderful), characters (especially the amount of interesting side characters), the world and everything in it, technical aspects.
There's plenty to criticize and some parts of the game really pissed me off more than once.
Certainly among the best games of the gen.
Still, I kinda doubt that Rockstar will be able to deliever a similar good experience with the next GTA. The whole scenario in RDR just fits perfectly for an OW title like that and offers a vastly more interesting world than GTA ever could. So they would need to step up with the writing. Despite being more than pleasently suprised with the writing in RDR2, I don't think the current scenarios with Los Santos or Liberty City could motivate me, unless they really find an interesting scenario.
Would love, if they actually go for a real mafia like experience.

Is Charles mentioned at all in RDR1?
I think they’ve done a really good job of tying RDR2 into the first game given it’s a prequel that they likely had no pre-plans for while making the first game.
Would even say it’s one of the better examples in any media for how to make a prequel, I mean look at the shit pulled with the likes of Metal Gear and the Star Wars prequels.

glad I got a good ending. Imagine Micah killing arhtur. Disgusting.
Would’ve knocked me sick if I got the bad ending. Especially being hit with the two-piece of Micah shooting Arthur and then realising I have to play as Marston

Also, I like Arthur but I would have much rather been able to play as Charles.

I'm in Chapter 6, he needs to be killed.
Props to Marston
By Dark PhaZe Go To PostDutch becomes something approaching likeable in the rare moments where he gets his hands dirtynah, I tried to kill both him and micah multiple times after chapter 5
but especially during the super alligator shit, I'm a sick man and I need to get off the boat?
Thank fuck for the exploit in gambler challenge 9. If anyone is trying to do all the challenges, it's probably worth doing them now in case Rockstar fix it/make it impossible. Basically you have to win 3 games of dominoes in a row, but you keep your streak if you exit during a match when it looks like you're going to lose. Loading a save resets your progress so you can't save-scum it.
Is there any reason to upgrade the camp with mats and tablecloths etc?
Killed a legendary moose, it fell in the water and couldn't be lassoed. Would be livid if I didn't have a save from ten minutes earlier. Started to focus on upgrading my satchels, where do iguanas spawn? I think I saw one on the main island off the coast of the third camp, that's it though.

I really like the characters and a lot of the systems and the graphics in this
but I just don't know how much I can put up with these slow ass controls and I've NEVER had an issue with Rockstar's slower style games before.

I don't really have much of an issue with the controls... sometimes the button layout don't make sense but that's about it
kinda feel like after I made a couple grand, there wasn't much to look into
good with my guns, hunting intrigues me but wearing a full skunk suit or something seems immersion breaking, robberies that aren't story driven seem pointless because I can just earn a lot more looting bodies from story missions...eh. I'm still motivated to finish the story, but there's less to do in the world than I thought.

Sad to do it, but I’m going to trade this in tomorrow. Don’t want to plough through all the content before the PC version comes out.
"Thank you"
Why did you do this to me Rockstar? Watching my baby die, she was so beautiful, why didn't you give me the chance to let her flee :(

Goddamn playing Red Dead's making me want to hit up all the National Parks out west.
Glacier, Badlands, Great Basin, Yellowstone, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Teton...
Want to see them all.

The rail bridges in the north east of the map provide some lovely vistas
Do bridges that look like that still exist in the US or have they all been modernised/the routes changed?
Do bridges that look like that still exist in the US or have they all been modernised/the routes changed?
Fairly sure that those bridges are now out of use and are just tourist attractions, but there is an Amtrak route called the "California Zephyr" where they take you from Chicago through the American West and all the way out to San Francisco. The Gold Rush route basically.
It's not the same exact rail as the First Transcontinental Rail Road but it's as close as you can get.
And if you visit Denver I think there are regional touristy trains you can take with vintage old train cars and whatnot.
EDIT: Like fuck. I need to go see this shit.

By alt sy Go To Postfinished the epilogue. Yeah, that wasn't necessary at all.
I kinda liked it, but at times it felt like they were just wanking off the first game.
They could’ve easily ended the game with Arthur dying on the mountain and finished on a high. No pun intended.
The epilogue ending just left me asking why Dutch was with Micah still, as it seemed like he left him and went his own way after the Arthur/Micah fight.
Even more of a why, why did Dutch shoot Micah there and then? If it was revenge for Micah being a rat then it should’ve been sooner. If they were happily working together then why shoot him at all when the ball was fully in his court. Loosest part of an otherwise tight story
