Real 3 down at HT. Marcelo looks bored.
Real could actually get smashed here.
Looking back at that Hazard goal, what the hell is Moreno doing? Why doesn't he close him down or even foul him? I can't even defend this guy anymore.

Can't trust him in the slightest to step in for even an odd game, let alone an extended period if Robertson is unavailable. Would rather see Milner, Clyne or TAA there instead, and none of them are leftbacks.

Don't think you need to overanalyze it. Hazard is a very good dribbler while Moreno is decent at best in defending.
By Hitch Go To PostHe needs to goBut he was generally good last season for an extended period. His weaknesses and strengths are still the same and that's why he's second choice. He is unlikely to play more than 10 times a season and you really won't do much better with such a player. Certainly, a single league cup game shouldn't have much of an impact on what you think of him in any case

He had a few chances to close him down outside the box. Watch that goal again, in slow motion if you have to. He had no other Chelsea player around him and could have went to help Keita. Instead he back up a few times allowing Hazard to run into the box when he could have stopped him before Hazard even saw the site of the penalty box. Sorry but I don't see how you can sit there and defend him.

Moreno's mistake comes when he allows Hazard to cut inside, but before that it is mostly just Keita not doing well enough.
Agree 100%
And as I said above, whether you think he is to.blame or not shouldn't actually change your opinion on the man. He's played dozens of games for Liverpool, that's more than enough to have a solid opinion.

Look at that gif, look how wide Moses had gone out, which left Moreno practically right in front of Hazard. As soon as Moses went out wide, Moreno could have closed down Hazard, but instead allowed him to run straight at him. Moreno was already face to face by the time Keita got behind Hazard, so you can't really say Keita didn't do much. Moreno should have committed a foul and stop his momentum. Him getting a yellow wouldn't have been a problem since the game was almost over.
after seven games of ligue 1, there are eight points between first and second, and second and nineteenth.

How do Hazards hammys just not explode with those aggressive stops/starts/turns. There's like no ramp up in speed. 0-60 instantly
I'm falling madly in love with Cancelo. Incredible player. Probably the best left + right back in the world right now. Can play both sides.
What's great is he never ever goes for the conservative play. Always tries something daring and it's almost always the right thing.
The reverse Cuadrado, truly. Football would be a much more entertaining sport, if all left and right backs were born wingers.
Can't wait for Napoli. Should be the first big test for him defensively, with Insigne and all.

What are the chances that RM go in for Hazard this Jan? He's in incredible form and he wont be cup tied for the CL.

I don't think your appreciating a) that if he had gone and closed hazard down and hazard played Victor in for a free run into the box which is a big no no... Don't make the decsion for hazard let him have to b) the speed the game is played at, he did not have time to close him down.

Yes he did have time to close him down and you act like there aren't other players that would have came in for Moses.
