By Hixx Go To PostIt's a great change. They've known it was coming for a while now, and certain clubs will use it as an excuse for a shit summer but other big clubs have been able to get shit done no problem.
I mean one of the big clubs has made multiple signings and I would expect the reason they've been able to do so will be reflected in their accounts.
Arsenal have signed players also but they've targeted those in a different bracket to everyone else.
The fact that the two clubs with the most financial power in the Premier League have effective made only one major signing each says it all.
By Hitch Go To PostPlayers who would feasibly make a World XI. From the last few years the likes of Neymar, Ronaldo, Lewandowski, BonucciPlayers from that category just very rarely move in general though. Of the names you listed, 2 are right at the end of their careers and I imagine there was lack of interest in Ronaldo and Bonucci from the PL given the risks involved (correctly, for Bonucci).
I don't recall anyone with that status joining a PL team when they're already in that category, plenty of players have gained it while playing in it though. That's not to say everyone in the PL has to settle for a bunch of nobodys, its just a step below the very top players.
World XI Players in their peak that moved I can genuinely only think of Bale, Neymar, Lewandowski and Pogba in over the past years. Perhaps Hummels as well? But then 2 of that list were just tapped up by Bayern, most clubs aren't so scummy.
Edit: just look at players like De Gea or Griezmann, who have remained where they are despite club issues.

I think just after Suarez moved, for about 18 months he was the best number 9 in the world.
Age appears to have caught up with him though.
So Spanish papers saying we're going for Mina with German papers saying we're going for Boateng. Barca and Bayern could probably be more subtle.
Wonder if Boateng is done
Has a legit shout for being the worst player at the World Cup which I didn't see coming at all.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostTransfer window as a concept is indeed dumb.I actually don't mind the concept of the transfer window. I was just pointing out that in other sports the theoretical transfer window remains open for a very long time and teams are able to integrate these players well -- the idea that you need to have your team set before the start of the season doesn't make sense. The concept of it only being an issue in soccer/football is nonsensical and any complaints are just frankly excuses.
But Meier is only arguing to abolish it because clubs like City would drastically prosper from such a move.
If you already have a very short and finite window of time (about ~7 weeks out of 38) to improve your team during the season, then taking any time away from that makes no sense. It's now about 10% of the season instead of 50% of the season in other big sports.
Other big sports are shit tho
Presumably it's mainly down to it just seeming worse when you sell a player late in the window than it seems good when you buy one
Irrational, but there you go

By Zabojnik Go To PostWhy not just sign Modric? 😒
Man, if Allegri pulls this off … It could solve our undying midfield problem.
The side bar from Miggy D is that people in the club think it'll be Toby but it'll probably happen on deadline day if at all.

Levy loves a nice chunky transfer sum coming in at a point at which his manager is unable to spend it.

Ajax never have their team ready at the start of the season. Usually our best player gets sold near the end of the window and we're still half in shambles looking for replacements when we're playing for CL qualification. This season things seem a bit different though with Overmars actually buying replacements before the player we're most likely losing is sold. That's kind of nice for a change.
By Laboured Go To PostSoooo Chelsea or Totteringham?Everton, innit.
By sohois Go To PostIf Palace want, they can add Markovic along with Ings to help replace Zaha. 50m
Scum pls
Zaha is definitely good enough to be a part of the Top 6 clubs. There's so much depth at most of them that I wouldn't say as a regular starter across the board, but I'd have had him at City if the Mahrez thing didn't happen. Arsenal should be all over him.
By Laboured Go To PostArsenal would be a good shout but they don't have the money.#emptywarchest
Anyone think Dembele is on the move from Barca if they've just bought Malcom to replace him?
Seen a few rumours on the ol' timeline that Arsenal are going all out to sign him. lol

i got a photo of me and her daughter together. it's photoshopped but i wish it wasn't,
Here we go. Toby and Willian pls. Not my ideal transfer window by any means but it would be just about acceptable.
Of all the CBs we've been linked with Toby is by far the best. I'd like someone younger and more exciting than Willian but Mou has made it clear he does not want that kind of winger.

By Kidjr Go To PostI want to know how much they're talking and I'd think about it. 60 million + iwobi and I'm in.Lol. Iwobi isn't very good, so Barca would obviously not be interested. But either way, Dembouz will cost any team well over £100m. Iwobi might be worth £15m to another English team but no more than £8-10m to a team like Barca (if they would take him).
By FortuneFaded Go To PostCity legend. Looks like he's been a decent enough scorer the last two seasons -- hope he does well for you.
By Kidjr Go To PostThere's a picture going of Dembele with arsenal players. There's a billion Dembeles so it's no surprise one would show up in a picture with arsenal players.
