Says a lot about your teaming if you are hoping other teams get weakened. Lions don’t concern themselves with sheep.

but then again I dont see why it's a problem to see other teams weakened. As long as it's not something like a long term or career ending injury.

Good for the player but I think we're going to end up short on centre backs this season. All of them so injury prone

So how do we think the Martial saga resolves itself.
Difficult to see how he stays at the club with Mourinho in the mood he is in. I think he's gone by the deadline for less than £60m.

By Mangoverboard Go To PostI've said for the past couple years now that he will just never be good enough for City. His body type was already going against him to be in a free-flowing system and I really have seen no improvement at all recently. Loan him out, maybe he has a nice season, then sell him. The best choice for all involved. Garcia looks worlds better already.

I'd take a cash + Alderweireld deal.
By sohois Go To PostBut, why?The Madrid part?
Will certainly be interesting. I've read an article in Kicker that says that some Bundesliga managers think they can benefit from the PL's window closing earlier. There were some very high last minute offers from PL clubs that they declined because there was no time to find a replacement in the last years. Now, that they have 2 or 3 weeks to look for replacement, they can accept those offers.
Maybe Real thinks the same, maybe cash in on a ridiculous offer and find a replacement afterwards. Not sure I see the benefit to be honest. PL clubs might not be able to sign anyone but it's not like prices will magically drop or players get available when the PL window is closed. Plus, everyone know you're stuffed with cash anyway.

Think he ends up staying. Mou's done tonnes of u-turns on players.

I too cannot see why waiting for the other richest clubs to be removed from the market would be useful.

he'll stay. mourinho is a fair guy and will give him another chance to apply himself and earn his spot
and i don't think there's actually much in this recent baby situation anyway. another media created storm as usual.
By Laboured Go To PostI too cannot see why waiting for the other richest clubs to be removed from the market would be useful.Except that Madrid won't need to worry about competing with any of the English clubs. Their pulling power is enough that anyone they target isn't even gonna bother talking to other clubs.
The only thing this accomplishes is missing the chance to sign any EPL players
Martial cant even muster himself for a literal free run in the team when everyone else who is in his place was at the WC, a WC he didnt attend because he didnt put in the performances.
He could not ask for a better chance to nail down a place in the team

They can still sign EPL players up to 31 August although I agree clubs will be massively reluctant to do so if they can't replace them.
They won't have EPL sides driving up bidding for the players they want in other markets though, as no one (even Wooders) enjoys over-paying.
Wait so the transfer windown only closes next week for signings?
Clubs would still be able to sell?
That's really weird.

It's also mind-bendingly fucking stupid.
By Pele.gif Go To PostWait so the transfer windown only closes next week for signings?Yeah, the window is only related to being able to register new players. You can sell at any time frankly -- the guy just wouldn't be able to necessarily play for his new team so the new contract is usually not valid until that point. There have always been a few leagues with windows open later than England's.. now they're mostly all open MUCH later. It really was an incredibly stupid decision and it's something I'm sure they'll reverse course on. No way the positives outweigh the negatives here.

By Cleff Go To PostWas Vidal to Barca mooted at all before today? Coz it looks like it's happening.
fuck
I hope they at least pay more than what Inter offered.
Sign Thiago you cunts
Back in the first week of September 2017, 14 of the 20 Premier League clubs at the time voted to close the window early this year, and they essentially did so because they had just come out of a situation where certain high-profile moves - specifically Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from an Arsenal that had just lost 4-0 to Liverpool - had created a bit of a distraction around the first few games. That was it.
Fucking morons.
