FM's shade of Nintendo was hilarious tho
Wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be one of the final nails in the BCT coffin and used as a "this place is not productive" excuse
I tried to sit there and watch it one day since they had a marathon
it's so fucking dated. It's like an 80's soap opera shit is straight

Why is this the first I'm hearing of this?

Jasper, Texas is in the news again. You might remember the city from such other stories as the dragging death of James Byrd.

Justice Department investigating death of Texas man
The Justice Department is investigating the death of a young man in Texas reportedly found mutilated after he'd been missing for almost three weeks.
Volunteer searchers found the body of Alfred Wright, a 28-year-old physical therapist from Jasper, Texas, on Nov. 25 in a field 25 yards from the Sabine County, Texas, liquor store where he was last seen on Nov. 7. Searchers found him missing an ear and some teeth. His throat was slit. Some reports indicate both eyes also were gone.
An autopsy ruled the death of the married father as accidental and local authorities said it was drug related.
The Justice Department decided to take on the case under the request of Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas.
In a three-page letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, Jackson Lee wrote that local law enforcement officials dropped the search after three days, and after finding articles of Wright's clothing. She also pointed out that Wright is from Jasper, a town also known for the 1998 dragging death of James Byrd, a black man.
"This case appears to bear the indicia of a suspicious crime in which an African-American male is yet again the victim of an act of lethal violence," Jackson Lee wrote.

I visit mediatakeout every now and then cause sometimes I like headlines to feel like they're being screamed at me.
I got drunk and am keeping too real with a friend again. Fishing out sobering advice.
Did keeping it real go wrong?

DY refuses to see 12 Years A Slave because of all the Tyler Perry movies that the army had him watch while they did waterboarding exercises on him.

I would tell them all my secrets if they tied me up and made me watch all that shit
Should I feel bad for kind of not wanting to watch 12 Years a Slave
It comes out today. My fiance wants me to get it, but I physically get pissed off watching those kinds of movies.

Then get sentenced to 12 years of slavery in a federal prison, thus completing the cycle.

If that's the case, you might choke slam someone when its over.
No one should feel bad about not seeing slave porn. those movies are for white people.

I had to deal with this shit this weekend when I was sitting by the bar and a random dude mistook me for a bouncer at this Hipster EDM clubs I was at and asked me to get his girlfriends coat from coatcheck (which side note happens every time I go to hipster club because usually my friends and I are the only minorty males who aren't bouncers at the club and I look more intimidating than the actual bouncers......shit let's be honest I am more intimidating than the actual bouncers).
I tell the guy "its alright don't worry about it, it happens a lot" to try to end the conversation and enjoy my buzz.
And his reply is I shit you not "no its not alright, people shouldn't assume your the bouncer."
I mean he completely ignored the fact he was one of those "people" just a few seconds ago.
He then went on a three minute diatribe about how "people" can be so racist and how "everyone" should know better. I had to physically standup and hit him with a for him to finally bounce with his chick and leave me alone with my drink.
Craziest part his girl was a bad light skin black girl.

I finally caught Django Unchained this weekend during a free Showtime preview, and I agree. The movie made me uncomfortable.
I've been waiting for years to do this. Placebo effect? Time will tell.
Where you're from- Mobile, Al
Where you live- Bath, Michigan (let's say East Lansing cuz nobody knows where Bath is)
Your cultural heritage, lineage and genealogy- I identify as "black" because I have to stiffle laughter every time I hear some variation of "African-American." That said, I'm half-Guyanese.
Do you know your roots-I don't care too much for that stuff, but if my wife has her way, this won't last. She's all into Skip Gates' series concerning knowing ones' roots. She even paid $100 to track hers a month ago.
Your Age- 30
Favorite musical genre- video game music and Christian hip-hop (Lecrae, Trip Lee, Sho Baraka, and Da' T.R.U.T.H.)
Your profession/major/career interest- I spent 2006-2014 studying to get my Ph.D in English to teach at the college level, but much has changed in the world of education/academia since I entered grad school, and I'm considering walking away with ABD status and my remaining sanity. My "dream job" has always been to become a video game editor and write for EGM, but we all know what happened to that magazine. Now I'd like to write for Edge, because their style of prose resembles that which I was "encouraged" to emulate despite my resistance. But they're in the UK and I already have a family, am black, and don't even have a passport.
Your religious affiliation- Christian (non-denominational)
Hobbies- Playing (and writing about) video games, reading comics (currently on Days of Future Past of my Marvel Comic Chronology project), waxing scholarly, apologetics/various ministries
Bonus:
Popeye's > KFC
As per the conversation concerning Django, erry body on my FB feed wanted to know what I thought about that film. The short version is any discussion of American slavery (or even race for that matter) a welcome one, since the average US citizen has never read a slave narrative. We'll iron out the authenticity later. How many people do you think read read 12 Years a Slave, which is over 150 years old, before watching that movie? (rhetorical question)

Part of Dy and Devo's plan, surely.
nah....legit problems were exposed but I thought it could have been resolved

It's been resolved.
I've been trying to get better at catching any disconnects in discussions, because I do agree with Dev.
But, um... that's my bad, guys.

I'm all for having better discussions but I didn't know it was that serious. I had to read back a few pages to see what was going on. I don't think just because most of us are down for the cause doesn't mean we cant slip up from time to time. Even though it's frustrating, sometimes you have to remind your brehs to check their privilege.

Don't dwell on it too much if you and Devo cleared the air with eachother, shit has been full of tension all day.
we had a good run yall. even popgaf didn't make it this long w/o getting clipped.we got clipped in our first thread. but weve had a long run since

I actually hadn't noticed any real tension. I had figured that ultimately, we're going to have discussions and disagreements, because we don't all think alike. But now thinking back, I don't think that people holding their tongue until the whole thread is on edge is a good idea in the first place. Unless we just never talk about serious shit.
The ordeal was all but over by the time we got our time out, I thought if you could call someone out anywhere and have a real conversation BCT was that place. -shrug-
Now keep it down before I lock this thread up.

looking at the neofag Reddit. who is this coon dahighyetiofficial ? He lurking the hell out of bct.
He was johnny on-the-spot. I checked just to see how long it'd take them to notice, took like 5 minutes tops. that boy is stressed about black people.
Clearly I'm the glue keeping that thread together.
My take on all that - not everyone has to go around posting dissertations and trying to change minds. Hell, the busier I've gotten the less and less I find myself caring to do that. But, reading threads or following posters to then post in the BCT stuff like "omg, they're at it again!", "why isn't he banned!?!" and "get em!" is pretty lame.
Also, the frustration at OT and gaf in general is getting tiring. I honestly think it's a bit of DY and JC on point. You want to be bothered by that stuff, get in there and debate it (DY), otherwise chill out and enjoy the jokes (JC).
Even when I'm telling cats to "fuck off" and getting banned, I'm not mad.. just felt like a funny thing to say at the time.
RE: the Swift stuff - Yep. That's been a recurring thing, every 10 pages or so BCT wants to post on bodies and asses (fat ass or flat ass).. I mean I'm not going to get too heated about it, I just won't participate--but it's common sense that it makes it harder for women to want to come in and participate. And the "no ass" stuff is definitely the same sort of thing that'd be complained about if reversed, it's jokes (not really a funny one)... but a spade is a spade, and it's a personal appearance blast.
