There's no reason you can't actually verify the identity of someone who pays for a check mark. Crypto exchanges do it for someone who wants to spend $10 on doge.
I mean I'm not saying that's what he will do but if it was my money I'd definitely trade dev costs for human verification.
More than 50 Tesla workers, two Boring Company staff, and one Neuralink employee have been tapped to review code at the social media platform, with current Twitter employees telling CNBC that, to complete Musk's review deadlines, they are pulling 12-hour shifts, seven days a week with no communication surrounding their compensation or job security.Elon is a really bad software engineer lol
Twitter, which runs using publicly-facing publishing and search engine functions, is developed in code written in Scala, a concise 18-year-old programming language, compared to Python, a 31-year-old programming language that Tesla engineers are currently using.
One Tesla employee who was not participating in the Twitter code review told The Washington Post the company's engineers would struggle to accurately assess existing code on the social platform, which runs using large-scale distributed systems that are outside their specialty.
The "idea of Elon being flanked by his Tesla engineers reviewing Twitter code is laughable," the source, who was not authorized to discuss the topics on behalf of the company and spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation, told The Washington Post.
The fact that he keeps thinking Twitter's problems are engineering / product related is really hilarious to me. You're not gonna fix its problems via code. Whoever said the problems of big social media are political is 100% right.
Feels more “human nature” related but maybe that’s splitting hairs.
He definitely views doesn’t understand what he bought or at least the related issues of what he bought.
We’ll see though. Can’t wait to see what his moderation panel comes out with

how's the job market for engineers in the us? people here are literally begging anybody with some IT experience to come work for them. i get calls every week of people trying to recruit me lmao.
Probably "not great" right now but that's all relative -- it's probably still very good to any other industry. The big firms have frozen hiring for the most part in anticipation for a recession but that doesn't mean there isn't great jobs out there.

literally every sponsored post on reddit or twitter is a different company begging IT people for to come work for them. if you have any experience or degree in IT and willing to live in switzerland it's your time.
That sounds awful, but I can imagine getting to DM somebody who's feet you've been perving over is going to prove too hard to turn down for a lot of the population
In early prototypes, a Twitter user was depicted asking the musician Post Malone about his favorite records. Such paid messages could appear in a special area of the direct message inbox, and the celebrities would have to choose to receive them.Exactly what celebrities hoped from Twitter all these years
I already know the answer but it does beg the question whether any of these celebs will receive any of the revenue. Or, you know, just leave.
Imagine if Twitch was like, "sorry Ninja, but you really ought to be paying us money if you want to keep making videos."
And there's only 400,000 verified accounts? That's so hilarious as to how myopic he is.

Surprising that a person that fundamentally doesn't understand people doesn't get how to run a social media platform. At least Zuckerberg is learning how to render and animate legs.
By SP Go To PostSo then what is the point of managers..?Elon doesn't believe in them he prefers to talk to engineers directly like every shitty boss that has an overinflated ego and believes they could do your job better
"World's richest money acquires company for $44bil and fires half its staff in a week" is too Randian and dystopian even for Paul Ryan
By reilo Go To PostYou can get fired for cause for disagreeing with your boss what?

Ah yes, advertiser's have often really really responded to activist pressure.

I don't understand how all these "First Amendment" types missed the whole fucking point that boycotting is THE most American way of exercising free speech
