Why buy twitter at $54.xx when tech stocks have taken a beaten in the past few weeks - it's no longer making financial sense for Elon's backers to buy twitter at Elon's evaluation. Twitter without this fiasco at current market is worth somewhere between $15-$20 at best.
Ohh and Tesla stock has fallen off a cliff, so Elon has less pull leveraging Tesla.
Deal is off 100%

By Laboured Go To PostHe should stick to what he's good at.Well the original concept is essentially public transport, so it's no surprise that a guy who wants to sell cars didn't go through with it
I don't know about you all but I love being sold shit we already have back to us by tech bros and it's even less streamlined in spite of their so called "genius." Oh and they get a bunch of gov grants to do so as well. Good times.
I think it's great how we as a society keep deifying shitheads who inject sociopathy into other people's ideas
anyone willing to improve public transportation in the US without labeling themselves as a politician is getting a parade too tbf
Just a counter to that I guess, and if we're being truly honest and fair, there is a certain touch of brilliance in Elon, he's a phenomenal Operations guy.
I liked how he was telling the Twitter employees that they'd have to work hard but that it wasn't as hard as he works.

Do you also think Bezos or Jobs were personally responsible for the supply chain mega wins their companies implemented or the people they hired that are actually experts in the field?
By Laboured Go To PostWow, reilo admitting Elon is a phenomenal HR guy.Not really because he forced the guy behind the Model S out who's actually an engineer and he's now CEO/CTO of Lucid who by all accounts are making the best EV on the market
By reilo Go To PostAmazing how theDo I also think that? No. It's well documented for example that Tim Cook is the supply chain master in the industry. But just because Jeff, Steve and Tim surrounded themselves with the best doesn't mean they aren't impressive individuals themselves.fakefounder mentality trickles all the credit upwards even for shit not within their umbrella of expertise.

What is it about being so absolute? We can't hate on people while recognizing their legitimate accomplishments? Are we not better than that?
It's not even about Elon. I'd be saying the same shit in a "Bezos running wild" thread.
It's about the pervasive VC culture of propping up founders at the expense of the rest of the company. I don't even need to tell the story, you already know about WeWork and Uber. There's plenty more of them that you don't even hear about in comparison to the "successes" like Musk.
In other words, these founders tend to also be hyper anti-labor and will fuck their employees below leadership level over in the chase for "profit" aka option triggers that just make the founders richer.
It's rich winners picking more of their favorite rich winners.

It's luck at the end of the day but these people position themselves to take advantage of it when the opportunity arises. It is also a skill to finding smart quality people to realise your vision. Bezos and Elon are just the face but it is the brilliant behind them that are the backbone. Humans as social creatures so always need a singular figure to prop up and especially in America where the individual is paramount and celebrities are looked up to as gods.
You saw it when Jobs died and the market was wary of seeing Cook being promoted over someone like Ive to replace him as figurehead, but Apple has been way more than fine because the manufacturing at scale and being on time is their secret sauce -- which was well over a decade of transformation under Cook.
And even then it's nowhere close to being all of Cook's credit. The machine is too big for one person to be responsible and being rewarded for it all.
But if Jobs was still alive and Apple was exactly who they are today, the tone of reverence would be way different and it doesn't really make sense.

Jobs was something special but he did put Cook as his successor and Apple hasn't really been the market innovator since. The new SoCs are impressive though. When Apple became slaves to Wall Street they stopped taking risks.

On Monday, Parag Agrawal, Twitter’s chief executive, posted a lengthy thread detailing how the company calculates its number of bots. He said the company had shared an “overview of the estimation process with Elon a week ago.” Mr. Musk responded to the thread with a poop emoji. This is why you don't give children money
